Miyazaki Quote inside of this Kotaku excerpt

I see that quote being tossed around a lot, but there are a lot other, better ones in the Design Works. Every Dark Souls fan should have that book. $25 here: http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Souls-M-Kirie-Hayashi/dp/1926778898

I also don't think that's something that was necessarily missing from Dark Souls 2. But that's the subject for another thread.

Dark Souls 2 is a great game by any measure, but it was missing one thing that Souls' creator Hidetaka Miyazaki does perhaps better than anyone else: majesty. In his words, "refinement, elegance and dignity".

Ah, yes. Nothing evokes "refinement, elegance and dignity" quite like "Ceaseless Discharge". And truly that is what transpired the strongest from the Bloodborne trailer as well. In fact, the very name of the game, "Bloodborne", is a testament to that quest.

Game looks exactly like the Souls series.

Polygon column that tries (and fails) to distinguish the two: http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/11/5800246/bloodborne-is-not-dark-souls-heres-how-it-should-set-itself-apart

Solid. Why the hell they didn't show that at E3 instead of that nearly worthless trailer I'll never understand...

Interview with Miyazaki regarding Bloodborne: http://www.4gamer.net/games/260/G026038/20140611091/

Partially because development on Artorias of the Abyss Edition and Dark Souls II was going on simultaneously, I was kind of removed from the development of Dark Souls II and then I began work on Bloodborne.

This kind of goes without saying, but heretofore we were told that Miyazaki was a key overseer of quality and consistency for Dark Souls II, even though he was working on the next game. Now we know that was mostly bullshit for keeping up appearances.

During an event in London this was said by producer June Yoshino:

"We're really working flat out to get this game out for early 2015," he told Digital Spy. He also took the opportunity to reveal that Bloodborne will be playable at Gamescom:

"We're going to be there at all upcoming major game shows like gamescom, where we'll have our first hands-on demo on pods on the showfloor. There we can gauge first hand the reaction to the game."

So the game will be released early 2015 and we will have gameplay footage soon, exciting stuff.

Does not equate to:
So the game will be released early 2015

From Soft have delayed their games in the past, so I wouldn't count on a timely release.

Visuals are stunning. Souls-like game play. I wonder what the level design will be like? Demon's Souls is my favorite (Nexus hub with zoned off levels), but Dark Souls was great too.

The environmental detail in that last shot is amazing. I wonder if that's truly in-game.

Pretty sure I've read that it will be like Dark Souls in terms of a large, connected environment.

I get a RE4 vibe from that trailer. Which is not a bad thing.

I can see that, what with the town running rampant with creatures. For some reason it reminds me of the LoK: Blood Omen games (specifically 2 since I never played the first, and I guess, to a lesser extent, Soul Reaver).

Great trailer, and we got a release date to go with it. Though I'm not going to get my hopes up for a timely release or that the graphics will stay this beautiful, it may as well get downgraded like when Dark Souls II was released.

They were too ambitious with what they could do on previous consoles with DS2. Might not be the same case now that they're dealing with better hardware on the new consoles.

I gotta say though, it's really hard to get excited for this after what feels like a glut of Souls content over the last 2 years. Between the PC release of souls, the DLC, DS2 and then all that DLC... I feel pretty satiated for that style of game, currently. I wish they'd spend another year or so on Bloodborne. Put some distance on the disappointment of DS2, polish the game up and whet people's appetites more. As it stands, Bloodborne will come out less than a year after DS2. That's just weird.

Well Walter you called it. Instead of getting a February release, From Software has delayed Bloodborne to March. Well as we say in Sweden, ''He who waits for something good never waits too long.'' I haven't gotten a PS4 anyway, so the delay doesn't really bother me.

I'm glad Bloodborne was delayed because in February, there's already too many interesting games release such as Evolve, The Order 1886 and The Witcher 3. And it will obviously benefit Fromsofware work.

A wise decision. Since 2010 or so, companies have been pushing certain games out of the end-of-year glut to escape the vortex around Call of Duty releases. But this year it's almost defeating the logic behind the switch, since EVERYONE is releasing in early 2015. It's become the new fall quarter.

I'm happy for PS4 owners to get such a great exclusive but I'll be holding out for an eventual PC release. Right now, this is the only game on my radar for consoles, so it's just not worth investing in one yet. Also, I feel like I've had my Dark Souls-esque fill at the moment. But that might subside once I start hearing impressions about Bloodbourne :guts:

I have to confess, Bloodborne is the first ''soul game'' that really caught my interest. Because of the setting but truly because of the shift in the gameplay that seems to rely more on offense than defense within the well known mechanics of the franchise.

Note that i've bought Demon soul when it came out and tried Dark Souls.
