Th3BrandedOne's Colors

Th3Branded0ne

I'll be back.
I had like an hour before going to exercise so I thought to kill time by doing this. I know it's not the best and the time was not alot to make a good pic. Any commentsarewelcome.

Re: Just to kill time

You know? I kind of like it. It reminds me of old pulp comics colors. Thanks for posting!

Re: Just to kill time

Thanks for posting, Th3BrandedOne! Don't worry about it if you're thinking the pics not good. We all started somewhere.

I wish it was a bit bigger so I could see it better, tho. But for an hour this is pretty good. Like Lith said it does kind of look like an older comic book. It has muted colors and very little shading so it works in that regard.

Keep at it and pick your light sources for shading. And of course, keep on posting :)

Re: Just to kill time

Thanks for the comments, Yeah I took a photoshop class some years ago. I know some people have an artist's touch, I just happen to color for the fun of it. Maybe as I continue I will develop alittle bit more. Thanks and I will continue to post as much as I can.

Hey brandedone, I merged your two threads to help organize these.

As far as your coloring is concerned I'd work more on shading these in addition to adding a single color per surface. pay attention to lighting/etc.

Lith has a good tutorial on this and there are others on the internet if you google them.

Keep practicing.

Thanks for the info, I will try to continue to improve. So far so good,at least I didn't get the worse picture ever. Thanks again for the comments, I will post more as I continue to learn.

Good job on sharing with us the picture our members make (in this case Lithrael as the image says, who's the first person who replied to you in this thread). :schierke: Since people like to leech stuff without crediting the source so much I can't really blame you, though.

I just got this beginners carving kit, so I gave it a try at this piece of berserk. It's not quite finished yet, I need to cut it out from the remaining wood, sand it, and give it a paint job.

It's neat, I think it looks good for a first try. I made your image into a link though, because it's too big to be display in the forum.

OK, this is how my carving first looked when I just carved it.

Now, I have had the time to sand it. Tell me what you guys think of the difference.

Wow, the sander really made a difference, there are still some lines betwen the feathers (perhaps a "bigger", or whatever the term may be, sander could take care of these) and minor symmetry issues. Given that this is your first try in this all I can say is SWEET, keep it up.

I tried to give it a wear and tear feel to it, that is why I left those marks and the symmetry off. I could have made it all symmetrical, but I felt since I took it from the pic where Griffith is imagining he is with Casca and with a kid. Then Casca looks at the shield and sword reminiscing about the past. So to me, the shield kinda looked worn out, that is why I didn't do it how you pointed out. But thanks anyways.

EDIT:
Well, I just finished taking the carving out of the piece of wood, sanded the edges and put a stain on it. The front will eventually be blue on the hawk symbol and a silver leaf finished around it.

It's pretty amazing how much better it looks with each stage. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product, as it's shaping up rather nicely.

Well, just today I received my gilding glue and silver leaf order. I managed to put it in about an hour since it's rather easy. I hope you guys like the silver touch, but I still have one more thing to do and that is to paint the hawk symbol to a blue sky. I'll post it as soon as I finished doing that. Later and enjoy the work. :carcus:
