Movies to look forward to

Although Ten is still in production, how can you not watch it after seeing this!?!

BADASS haha! BUT ...

Now in production, David Ayer's action drama Ten (formerly Breacher) features a cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Dawn Olivieri, Joe Manganiello, Malin Akerman, Olivia Williams, Mireille Enos, Josh Holloway and Harold Perrineau. Today, Schwarzenegger tweeted the first image from the set, revealing the look of his character.

The film follows an elite DEA task force that deals with the world's deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one.

The original screenplay for Ten arrives from Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, A Good Day to Die Hard). Bill Block, Paul Hanson, Joe Roth, Palak Patel and Al Ruddy will serve as producers. Alex Ott of Ayer’s Crave Films is executive producer.

I'm taking a leap of faith in adding this at this threat... But I admit, it put a smile on my face:

Very interesting! He does indeed say all the right things. Too bad they can't get Basil Poledouris for the soundtrack (because he's dead).

We will not let word of Arnold reprising the role of Conan pass so easily...

THE LEGEND OF CONAN will be produced by Paradox Entertainment, which owns the rights to the character. Chris Morgan will produce for Universal. Morgan, who has worked on 47 RONIN, WANTED, and the FAST AND THE FURIOUS series developed the story and may write the screenplay.
Morgan is a huge fan of the CONAN series and had this to say about the new film: “After the original seminal movie, all that came after looked silly to me. Robert E. Howard’s mythology and some great philosophy from Nietzsche to Atilla the Hun was layered in the original film. People say, he didn’t speak for the first 20 minutes of the film, but that was calculated in depicting this man who takes control of life with his own hand. This movie picks up Conan where Arnold is now in his life, and we will be able to use the fact that he has aged in this story. I love the property of Conan so much that I wouldn’t touch it unless we came up with something worthy. We think this is a worthy successor to the original film. Think of this as Conan’s Unforgiven.”

Sweet words but you produced Fast and Furious so...

Bring back Milius!

I don't care if it stinks, which is all but guaranteed, as long as they get Arnold as old Conan it'll be an adolescent dream come true. I know it's too sensible to ask that they simply adapt The Hour of the Dragon, AKA Conan the Conquerer, which was fittingly also going to be the name of the third film, but... God, that would be perfect.

I feel like I posted about this movie in here but I can't find it when I pull up a search ... anyway, Holy Motors looks promising

Put it this way: Eva Mendes appears in the film as a model in a burqa singing a lullaby to a naked man sporting a full-on boner, after he munches on her hair… and that’s perhaps the least interesting moment in this visionary, jaw-dropping spectacle. It’s the kind of bugfuck cliff-dive that’ll still be celebrated decades after most of 2012’s prestige awards-bait has been forgotten.

Well now I have to see this.

Cool cast, could be predictable but I'm optimistic ... don't like Freeman's commentary, in the sense, it doesn't elevate the trailer's sellability ...

Looks like it's trying really hard to be Inception in some ways, but still seems decent enough.

This's just a coincidence but both movies below star Tim Roth!

Broken also stars Cillian Murphy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3Py2jvJE6M

Mobius looks like a Thriller and it's got Dujardin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJXIAMsCftA

From the same guy who directed Primer (which is AWESOME), Upstream Color looks intriguing GOOD (YES!) ...

This is a slightly different Japanese version of the Start Trek trailer. Some extra scenes towards the end.

Looks like it's in the proper thread so far. Not a lot of on-Enterprise action in that teaser. Hmm...

With such a good trailer, I found myself not even thinking about it.

I haven't been this excited from a trailer in a long time.

I guess what I meant is that it didn't feel particularly Star Trekky to me. I really enjoyed the last movie though, so of course I'm excited for this one.

I was expecting more, I don't know... space? Lot of Earth action going on here. Still looking forward to it, but I wasn't engrossed by this first early teaser.

I guess it was just another average trailer to me; bad guy says ominous things to ominous music while actors in black leather coats run around (ok, wtf). My excitement hinges more on it being called Star Trek, but as Walter hinted at, you might not know it was just by looking at the scenes.

Wow, I'll say, pretty obvious allusion to Spock's death from The Wrath of Khan! That's more like it, I guess the Japanese version is the one to see.

Yeah, the last one was enjoyable and the crux of it was sort of brilliant for a reboot. As for Star Trek Into Darkness, or STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, I like the weird sentence style title and what it implicates, though they're kind of copping out by so dramatically differentiating the font sizes of "Star Trek" and "Into Darkness" (visually it might as well be a traditional title/subtitle). I would have preferred a single uniform line. On that superficial note, I'm a bit wary of the lack of obvious Trek iconography, namely the original multi-colored uniforms. I guess I can't hold a grudge since bringing them back in the first place was great, but we waited all last movie to see Kirk in his classic golds, and from the look of this everyone's going to be wearing a stupid pseudo-futuristic leather jacket for the most part. What a waste that would be. I hope it's just a specific part they're highlighting in the trailer, because that wardrobe is best left for any, and every, other sci fi movie. I mean, why go to the trouble of faithfully recreating the original costumes and THEN pull the lazy black leather move? What a tease! Speaking of wardrobe, it looked like Kirk and others were also wearing some alternate grey unis (not the cloaks); if it's a reference to the Star Trek: The Motion Picture duds, kudos, otherwise see above.

Oh, yeah, the content, right! Well, like I said, it just looked like any dramatic action movie trailer these days, "IT'S THE END OF THE FUCKING WORLD! AND THIS TIME... IT'S PERSONAL!" Of course, that's because it's how they're all marketed, plus obligatory comparisons to The Dark Knight. Obviously, I wasn't big on most of what I saw, but the big question is still who the fuck is Benedict Cumberbatch playing? Khan? Gary Mitchell? I looked for hints on that ship rising out of the water, which was inconclusive; definitely looks Federation from the letters, and seemingly not at all like Khan's SS Botany Bay (could be the Enterprise, which in another scene appears to be crashing). I'd prefer something akin to Mitchell, since it's more original and a whitewashed Khan suddenly goes from being a genetic supremacist to a white genetic supremest (speaking of uniforms and Gary, Cumberbatch was sporting a starfleet logo, if those are in fact his clothes). Anyway, the villain in the last Trek was a weak point, so I hope that aspect is better this time considering how much of the film seems invested in it. Wasn't vague revenge the arbitrary motive in the last movie, and now this guy wants revenge too? What for? Everyone wants revenge! I feel like we should see one of these guys venge in the first place before they bother to revenge. =)

Yeah... here's hoping there's more trekking into dark space like I imagined, and less battlefield earth than this trailer makes it appear. The bantha in the room though is that any screenplay involving Damon Lindelof is bound to be obnoxiously self-satisfied with how intellectually disappointing it doesn't think it is. Hopefully the "Darkness" doesn't amount to the equivalent of The Man in Black.

Maybe I'm just in an unreceptive mood because my boss is being an unprofessional dick and I'm thinking of quitting. I need a Trek movie where Kirk rebels against Federation orders right now! :guts:

I think it's universally speculated and agreed that Cumberbatch is Gary Mitchell. I also agree that Nero was the weakest point of the last film. Here's to hoping that Cumberbatch's character is more complex.

On a side note, who here likes First Contact?? =/

Yeah, strangely Khan still gets the most rumor buzz though. Maybe because the writer said Mitchell was on a list of villains that wouldn't be used... Of course, why would such a list, essentially "Things We're Not Doing," ever exist except to cover up something you're doing? =)

I did when it came out, but it hasn't aged well. Looks like a bloated TNG episode, and not a good one. Here, the first minute and half of this says it all:
