Movies to look forward to

Basically a movie with Swamp Thing and John Constantine. Not exactly a big attraction, but they are two characters I really enjoy. But, until I see something other than just an interview, I'm not holding my breath on this being released.
I really enjoy Constantine as well. My brother has most of the comics so i always read a few when I'm at his place. I hope this get's released.
I always thought that Jude Law would be the perfect candidate for the Constantine role, what do you think ?

There's a 2 minute trailer out for Danny Boyle's Trance, watched a minute and stopped, looks pretty good. For anyone curious here's the meat of it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHz1RzkTCyw

The End Of Love, apart from pretty ladies in it, looks like a very emotional Drama - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fPp6pJ-T_PM

Brit Marling's co-written, co-starred and co-produced some really good movies like Sound Of My Voice and Another Earth, so I'm excited for The East.

This looks ridiculously entertaining, right till the end of the trailer, I mean the first few minutes has me thinking the echoing voices and visuals are like a Video Game but then it just becomes something else hahaha

Gonna add this in here not because you can somewhat tell what the whole movie's about from watching the trailer, but because it looks pretty good and there's that hint of 'there's more than meets the eye' sort of thing. Some visuals remind me of Beyond The Black Rainbow and maybe even Solaris. Not familiar with the actors or the director, so a bit of a gamble eehh!

Looks like the kind of process Guts might have to go through to bring Casca's sanity back. Could be pretty cool. =)

Man, you're so romantic. Such a sweet thought while watching this trailer. I hope it's a good flick. Seems promising, art and set design look unique, and I'm such a sucker for wordless movie trailers.

I've been a long time fan of The Shining and Room 237 should be such an interesting watch, hit up the trailer here - http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/room237/

Synopsis - After the box office failure of Barry Lyndon, Stanley Kubrick decided to embark on a project that might have more commercial appeal. The Shining, Stephen King’s biggest critical and commercial success yet, seemed like a perfect vehicle. After an arduous production, Kubrick’s film received a wide release in the summer of 1980; the reviews were mixed, but the box office, after a slow start, eventually picked up. End of story? Hardly. In the 30 years since the film’s release, a considerable cult of Shining devotees has emerged, fans who claim to have decoded the film’s secret messages addressing everything from the genocide of Native Americans to a range of government conspiracies. Rodney Ascher’s wry and provocative Room 237 fuses fact and fiction through interviews with cultists and scholars, creating a kaleidoscopic deconstruction of Kubrick’s still-controversial classic.

I remember watching a documentary about a Tangaroan expedition by the explorer's grandson a few years ago. The Kon-Tiki expedition took place in 1947 and this flick looks darn cool ... cannot wait.

Aaaand the trailer is gone.

I never saw Kick Ass. Nicholas Cage is a real turn off for me. Was it worthwhile if that's a factor...?

That sucks, here's another link in shittier quality, might not last long either:

I don't care for Cage either, but I enjoyed it. He plays another total goofball character that works (for me at least). It's a refreshing take on the comic/super hero/graphic novel movie.

I'm excited for it too, though admittedly apprehensive about what kind of growth the characters have left. It'll be fun either way.

Director has stated he intends it to be a trilogy.

Cage was surprisingly fun to watch where I wasn't making fun of him. He can act if he wanted to - Adaptation Leaving las Vegas or Matchstick Men and very few more.

Saw a early night showing of the new Evil Dead. Really enjoyed it. I don't have anything bad to say about it to be honest. Its a very brutal movie to its characters. Its worth checking out. Its rare to get a good horror movie remake. I give it a overall 8/10

High score! Thanks for the mini-review, I'm looking forward to it a bit more now.

Looks stupid, but whatevers, Superbad ruled.

A Single Shot, atmospheric with Rockwell ... has good potential - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vOTaCsHvIAc#!

Only God Forgives ... Ryan Gosling back with the guy who made Drive, speaking of Gosling - his debut directorial venture sounds smacking good and not because of the hotpot playing the lead - anyway, back to this trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqAeVosG4zI

Oburi

All praise Grail
Evil Dead sucked balls. The characters sucked, the plot was stupid. Even the nods to the original were lame as shit. I'm very dissapointed. Cabin in the Woods was a better Evil Dead movie than this boring shit.

Yes I mad!

Really? I really liked it. I like Cabin in the Woods as well. I saw Evil Dead with some huge fans of the original and they really dug it. I don't think its that bad of a remake, and there has been a ton of bad horror movie remakes out there. This could have been a shit fest too, and to me it really held up. I will agree there are characters that make silly decisions in it, but that is in every horror movie. Stupid shit, like leaving the group, going into a dark room, getting close to a dead body that you thinks dead. I think those are typical audience traps. Again, I really like it. Its a good remake to me at least.

That sort of stupid shit happened a lot in Cabin In The Woods. Who goes out in the woods when it's dark, to make out and get topless? (not that I was complaining watching that scene haha)

Sequel*

I think before you start calling Evil Dead’s character's stupid you have to differentiate between the character's being stupid and the characters not being aware they are in a horror movie.
I disagree that you think the characters are stupid, they were all invested in helping their friend recovering from her addiction and it's not unreasonable to believe that the characters would assume that their friend was going through heroin withdraw and not a demon possession ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opioid_dependence#Physical_symptoms )]. So it’s understandable that Mia’s friends would assume all of the blood had to do with the skinned cats or that they would be safe once Mia was locked in the basement [because people just don’t have super human strength]. By the time they did try leaving it was already too late.
What I do feel was stupid on their part was that the friends refused to move to a different place once they found the dead cats and Mia was pleading with her friends to leave the cabin. But I am just not sure if that was because the friends refused or because Olivia [the nurse] convinced everyone that staying was the best chance for Mia to break her addiction, and the movie did hint that that decision may have been made due to Olivia being jealous of David and his new Girlfriend. And yet again, I only think this was a bad decision because you wouldn't want the atmosphere screwing with your friend during their withdraw.
Anyways, before I commit to saying I like the movie, I want to watch it a second time. But I will say that I had a much better experience watching Evil Dead than Oburi.

NightCrawler

Aeons gone, vast, mad and deathless
Why would anyone watch remakes of horror movies, specially twice? I can tolerate some remakes, but horror ones don't make any sense to me.
