Ya that's a really cool trailer, the music is spot on. Michael Shannon is going to steal the show as expected.

Looks good, something tells me it won't live up to these trailers though.

Yeah the trailer sucks you in but I agree it will probably be a letdown overall. I'll wait for the reviews, though seeing something like this on the big screen does motivate one a bit.

I wish he never would have bothered with these movies and instead focused all his attention on Sin City. I remember being excited for the first Machete, expecting trash, but it wasn't even good trash. It was rotten.

Oh? I never even bothered with it. The trailer was enough entertainment for me :ganishka:

I agree. Rodriguez and Tarantino both annoy me at times. It's been a non-stop fanboy love affair with 70's B movie culture for awhile now. I'd rather watch the original material they are paying "homage" to than see them try to prove how cool they think they are by repackaging all their influences without really adding a lot to them. Few things grate on my nerves like Tarantino's too cool for the room dialog. This isn't to say I don't like some of their films, it's just their modus operandi is getting a little old.

Sin City 2 and 3 have been sitting around forever and they are pretty much the most original stuff Rodriguez has worked on in the past 8 years.

People who watched it aren't excited about the abundance of the use of CG as compared to the LOTR trilogy and there's another bunch of people complaining how it looks amateurish. December release gives everyone time to work any chinks.

Chinks? Don't you mean...kinks?

Chinks is a derogatory term referring to Chinese people.

Don't you think those poor chinks have been worked enough?

About that trailer, I wasn't all that crazy about it. Too much cgi with elves running in trees and jumping all around. And of course they make it a point to show Orlando Bloom in a seemingly large role. I was hoping for something a little more subtle. This trailer was just all BAM! IN YOUR FACE SPECIAL EFFECTS WITH LEGOLAS AND A NEW ELF WARRIOR AND CRAZY ACTION!

I'm going to have to jump on the bandwagon and say this looks fucking awesome as well. At first I wasn't too interested but (and maybe it's also because this summer has a lot of shitty blockbusters) I've warmed up to this. The more I read about it the more I want to see it. It's got a great cast too. Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Ron Perlman AND Charlie Day! erm... i mean Charlie Hunnam.

Ditto, was curious and sold on the first trailer. I'm skipping watching this one ... cos sometimes they show a little bit more or something different and I'd rather see it at the movies!

To all who have not seen this, don't. It basically gives away the entire plot of the movie (I'm assuming).

Still, though, it looks intriguing.

There was a trailer for The Zero Theorem a few hours ago but it got taken out. Directed by Gilliam (Brazil fame), it stars Christoph Waltz, Tilda Swinton and Matt Damon. Official synopsis - "A computer hacker's goal to discover the reason for human existence continually finds his work interrupted thanks to the Management; this time, they send a teenager and lusty love interest to distract him."

Screenplay by Cormac McCarthy? Sign me the fuck up.

The New Yorker has the full script online, a friend emailed it to me and I shut down all my windows by accident trying to avoid it cos I didn't know what I was clicking.
