Why couldn't Sega just have published this instead of making that garbage attempt to jumpstart the Sonic series again with Shadow the Hedgehog.

Well, Sonic Hedgehog is a lot more memorable a name than whatever else they could've named it. If you don't like it you can refer to it as Shh.

FYI Sonic Hedgehog is incredibly important in the formation of the human body. People with problems relating to Shh may never develop bilaterally as they are supposed to, in extreme cases this can result in cyclops-like facial deformations. Presence of Shh is also how the body signals the growth of limbs, so people with problems with Shh may be missing or have stunted limb growth (including digits). It's really quite fascinating, and worth checking out.
