Discovering the original Half-Life

I had my first chance to discover this awesome gaming milestone recently.

I've been out of the PC gaming scene my entire life, using excuses such as my PC being unable to run any of the games. To my surprise, I found that Jedi Knight II worked, then Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena, so Half Life was the obvious next target.

I am very impressed. Considering when this game came out, it is simply mind blowing. The AI, the story, the level design, and the awesome legion of mods, adons and user created content.

I've discovered a neat little mod that lets me play the game in co op mode with up to eight players, something really awesome for the single player campaign I was never expecting.

A little late to the party? Hell yes, but I'm still having a good time.

Haven't finished Wolfenstein yet.

You can skip Wolfenstein 3D I think, but the fan made 3D Doom remakes out there are really worth it. The game's too good to be passed on. I think you should at least go through Doom, Doom II and Final Doom.
