Anyone here ever cosplay at a convention?

The total lenght of DS should be 2.1m (7ft)

The length of the blade is around 1.7m (5ft 8in)
The broadest width is 0.3m (1ft)
The thickness is at least 0.08m (3in)

I do not really know the calculation but i had confirm that if DS is made purely of pure iron it should be more than 100 kg!

If it is so light, then how the hell Isidro got pinned down in vol18?

I agree that no sword on earth weigh more than 40 kg (that y Godo got nearly killed by making such a sword), but dun forget this is not Earth! Apostle shouldnt be exist in the 1st place if this was indeed the real world!

Anyways, the point is that the DS is absurdly heavy.

Lets try this. My katana is about 1 kilo.
DS is 2x as long, 10x as wide, and 5x as thick. thats a 100 kilo DS. :p

well, 100 kilos sounds better. and now that i think about it, that sounds closer to the actual weight. The bars in the gym are 45 pounds and are about the right length. about 10-15 times that size would be the DS. I still think that the handle would break if being held at the handle only. I also forgot to add that a claymore isnt made of pure iron, otherwise it would be a few pounds heavier...Most swords arent made by iron alone...pure metals tend to be too malleable and iron rusts too fast. I'm surprised that the DS never rusted from that rainy night in the Misty Elf forest

Sword weight talk aside, please let me know when someone on here or someone elsewhere successfully dresses up as Guts! And really looks like him. I saw a horrid attempt at Otakon last year. Basically, this short, flabby guy dressed up as Hawks Guts using grey sweatpants, a white tank top, and a generic looking sword he probably got from a ren fest. Wow, such effort!

If I ever cosplayed, which I doubt I will anytime soon because I'm not much of a sewer and probably too shy to parade around in costume in public (other than on Halloween anyways), I'd probably be Farneze. She's the only character I could successfully pull off. All I'd need to do is make her current costume (I doubt I'd attempt the old one--arrmor--too hard) and grow my hair out longer. Roshine would be great to try, but I don't have that kind of costume making skill, and probably never will!

well, with enough money, someone could hire jeff hedgecock at http://www.historicenterprises.com/ and have him make someone a suit of armour similiar to guts'. As for the sword, i suppose you could make your own. Then you'd have to get a fairly tall and buff asian...i havent seen any tall asians...or any buff ones at that...

anyway.. i always thought Guts was around 6'4.. but wasn't sure if he was taller in reference to bok's post about people's height on the boards...

Who the hell did the centre one cosplay in? Judeau? He look like a girl to me :p
I agree that Gutz and Caska will be quite suitable for the other 2 to play

But who can cosplay as Griffith! For Serpico i know Lenardo Dicarpo will be a good subsitute!

yeh... the Guts and Caska are really good... but the Judeau is blah.. but not as bad as the Guts I saw at Anime Boston *cough* well, at least he tried... better to have a Guts, than no Guts I suppose...

jeez, i forgot how good that italian guts was x.x

and I could cosplay Serpico... i have blonde hair like that... *shrugs*

K. I read Guts is 6'4. His weight didn't make sense for his build. Neither did Griffith's, which was 5'7 and 170 pounds! ::) Judeau is 5'9 and 170. Does that make sense to you. Of course, Caska is 5'4 or something and 105, which is lame since she is more petite than I am and I'm 5'2 and 125...but that's manga/anime chars for you.

Somebody already did a pleather Femto, which turned out pretty sweet, though it wasn't skintight. Props to him though. Btw, the guy's costume was unfinished at the time.

I cosplay myself...Number 18 from DBZ. I'll post pics of that too if youre curious. But I am planning to do Slann sometime. :D Bodysuit of course. The only problem I'm having trying to figure out how to do things, though, are friggan the wings! I can't see what the hell those two things are that cover her cha cha...like, where do they come from? The corset, collar....even the hair is gonna be relatively easy to do....it's just these damn wings!

She also did the ballroom dress, but I'm too lazy to find that one right now. Her boyfriend did a rendition of Guts and made the D.S. out of brown sheetmetal. He was sort of puny to play the part, but the D.S. was pretty well done.

If u gonna cosplay Slann, U will have to be naked! I wonder if u are that willing too...

Btw, the cosplay posted by Makk is the best ones so far. They really resembles Gutz and Caska well! For ex. the height of the cast who play Caska was a head shorter than the one who play Gutz, totally just like the manga!

Well if you have the body to play Slann you could use a nude bodystocking and wear seamless bra and thong underneath THAT. That would probably turn heads. Thinking about that Femto outfit, I originally said something in a previous post about using leather or latex, but Pleather is perfect...and you could reinforce the bat like wings with wire...a tailor could somehow put that together, or simply fold over the pleather to make 'wing sections'. That's what I would do. Then add a pair of stiletto thigh high boots...even if she wasn't wearing that in the anime or manga, that would be
good because I'm only 5'4". If I was gonna be a Godhand like Slann I want towering height.
A wig sectioned off with tentacle-like pieces in an aqua color, some strong makeup like dark red lipstick and heavy eye makeup and there ya go.

But she is one of the hardest characters to put together unless you want to be one of the other Godhand members. Berserk's outfits are pretty complex.

I actually sat in bed last night trying to think of the logistics of being able to do that. But you're right, a thong would probably be your best bet. I'm sure they make them in flesh-color. I think they also sell these things that are like stickers you can put on your boob so your nipple won't be exposed. I forget what they're called, but I know they exisit. So if you wanted to do the almost naked but covering the essentials, you could do that.

As a dancer yes I know all about thongs, and those sticker bras...they are shaped like half moons and if you don't want to wear a real bra, you slap them on over your boobs. They are like stickers. That's an even better idea.
