Final Fantasy series guilty of imitating berserk?

Theres nothing wrong specifically with homosexual heroes... but would you like berserk as much if Guts was a homosexual?

P.S. : Tidus does not strike me as a homosexual, Alucard.
If Gut's was gay the series would be in the "other" section of the book store that I go to! So I wouldnt even know about it! ;D

He lacks masculinity in his looks.

I don't mean they are gay I mean the designs make them look very feminine.

...
I think I'll simply assume you're joking.
"Good one."

Let me refrase my self: Nothing is wrong with homosexual heroes. It just doesn't work out if the character is going after a girl as all the Main characters in the FF series are. They are acting like guys but looking very feminine.

Why does Olivier Hague like to engage in fights? I have never attacked him nor do I plan to.

If the character goes after a girl, that means he's not homosexual. Obviously.

I think he's just lamenting the lead males for looking all girly and then not smooching guys.  It probably annoys him that most crossdressing men like girls, too.  I'm getting the 'feminine guys are fine, as long as they are not supposed to be straight, straight guys look like Harrison Ford dammit' vibe off him.

Well, welcome to Japan, where as far as the girls are concerned, young bronzed androgynous guy = OMG HOTT and many of the guys are perfectly happy to cater to them, and the Ideal Video Game Guy ends up looking like that.

It's just as well, it leaves all the underappreciated rugged rice farmer types for us.  ;D

I have never understood why the main male characters in final fantasy are always so damn young. Look at final fantasy 7,8,9,10 and 12. They are all boys in their late teens or something like that. Can`t they ever have a grizzled longbeard fill the main role? Would at least make for a little more different story than the classic boy-meets-girl-defeats-all-opponents style they have run so far.

Try and read my whole post: "They are acting like guys but looking very feminine.
". That isn't stupidity that is a statement of fact. Obviously you didn't finish my post. For the last time I am not calling them gay I am calling the way they look very feminine.

Homosexual heroes are funny, just look at Xandir from Drawn Together.

Good point. :)

I am not a guy that won't let his emotions out and think doing so is weakness and all that stuff I just think that anybody who looks like this: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2003/screen0/459841_20031119_screen007.jpg
Lacks some basic masculinity.

They could but they want someone the players (mostly males in their teens) to connect to easily. Plus it would be hard to imagine some old guy getting the 16 year old female lead. Maybe if they made Viagra a power-up... "Ten hours and its still up. I guess its time to call the doctor."

This is masculine?

I am talking about the lead characters not Barret or Vivi. None of the other characters just the lead. The main character.

And? Still is opinion. A fact is "you can drink water". Not what you said.

I never said that they should have the standard relationship thing in there now did I? Okay, it can be good with some romance, but after 5 games who follow the same romance pattern it gets QUITE BORING. :p

Heh, so you're not saying straight guy game heros should look straight?  I thought that was your whole point.  ;)

*chuckle* I'm not calling you out as a gay-hater or anything.  I know what you mean.  These guys look gay as hell and yet they are straight, oh noes!!  I'm just saying that it's a Japan Thing...  The girls like the gay looking guys, and among geeks and pop culture addicts there's not much negativity about looking fey, so, pretty quickly 'looking gay' is no longer an indicator for actual gayness.

These young prettyboy heros are less about 'connecting' to a young audience and more about following a trend that this is what lead heroes are.  Everyone buys the posters of Cloud.  The Cid-fans are the fringe, not the mainstream.

I agree that it seems silly, but that's the culture, so, oh well.  My own personal gripe with Japan is how underrepresented the bad guys are in merchandise.  Heros sell better, so there's no figure of Vamdemon to fight my Paildramon.  Bastards.

Heheheh! ;D

My single favorite thing about FF7 is that thing in the basement of the Shinra Mansion, Yin/Yang... Why are hideous monsters never the lead hero in Japanse games eh? Eh??

No, you're calling them "homosexual".
I quote:

I am not calling them homo. I am saying they are designed like homosexuals. Lithrael came up with some logical responses instead of calling people names. I bow to her argument because I can see where she is comming from. Try explaining your side instead of calling people morons.

Why should he have to argue his side? Your post makes you sound like a moron.

I am saying they are designed like homosexuals.

I told you so.

Going back to the "way-too-young heroes" argument: Guts is what, 22? He was about 15 or so when he joined up with the Band of the Hawk. OMG! G[uttz] iS a YoUNg hEROE, i gOttA StOP ReAdING bERZERKK!!!!112! :p

If Squaresoft and Sony were ripping off Berserk, at least the stories would be more interesting. At best, they're just biting Miura's mad style. BTW, didn't Orson (Record of Lodoss War OVA) carry a rather large sword?
