What would she rather have you spend the money on? Fine dining? Clothes? Most people who look down on the collectibles hobby are simply wasting their money on other stuff, and the stuff they're wasting their money on usually doesn't last nearly as long. A resin statue can last years. How long does an expensive meal last? How long do a pair of expensive shoes last?

an expensive pair of italian shoes last a very long time. I've had a pair for about 7 years now, and they still look new. Not brand new, but very new. it all depends on how you take care of things.
