Skabbius' Artwork

Skabbius

Rotting Flesh
Even if I had joined the forum more than a week ago, I'd like to introduce myself.  I thought there would not any better way than showing off some of my artwork.

I am currently designing and writing a graphic novel series based off the 80's-90's controversial video game, Splatterhouse. Check the artwork out and tell me what you think. You may see that I have been influenced by Miura's art style, yet I want to keep my own as well.

My original design of the main character/heroes face. Rick Taylor:

His design (not finished) of Rick wearing my own design of the Hell Mask. His source of strength:

Rick and his good friend/girlfriend go to the old West Mansion on the outskirts of the town. Owned by Dr. West, thought to be far dead, Rick sees it as the best way to pass his failing grades by doing his term paper on it. They decide to go investigate West Mansion to see what they can find. As a terrible thunderstorm rages overhead, Rick and Jennifer enter West Mansion. Without warning, the door slams shut behind them, and total darkness fills the room. Rick hears Jennifer scream, then the ground fall out from under him. He watches Jennifer reach for him as he fell. Everything goes black.

Rick wakes with a start. He finds a mask attacked to his face. Try as he might, he can't remove the Mask. As he stands up, he feels a wave of strength course through his body, thanks to the power that the Mask is giving him. Then he sets off into the depths of the mansion to find Jennifer...

I have much more story to it. I simply do not want to write it all.

That avatar is pretty cool. :guts:

It's from the cover of a parody doujinshi going by the name of "Gag Comics". I've seen 3 of them up to now.

Damn you and your immense amount of information. :void: For a doujinshi the artwork is pretty slick. Wonder what the actual art inside looks like.

Welcome Skabbius, that artwork is pretty awesome. Hope to see a graphic novel soon. Seems like an interesting concept, curius to see how it unfolds.

I am happy that everyone is enjoying my artwork. Here is some more monsters that Rick will fight:

This monster is pretty cool looking. With his head attached to his torso and upside down:

And the big guy, Biggyman. With two chainsaws for arms. It sounds kinda stupid while talking about it, but he is pretty cool looking:

I have almost two books written already. I am just enhancing my art quality before I really get started.

the shading is nice, but somethings off about the anatomy of the lets and feet.

The first monster was made on purpose with small stumpy feet. It really is not human, so you can't expect the anatomy to match that of a human. Of course these are sketches that I do in school and I have not memorized the human stucture yet. So I wing it as much as possible.

Also, to find out more information about the game that I am basing this graphic novel off of, check out this site:

http://www.classicgaming.com/splatterhouse/

Of course that video game really did not have as much of a plotline and character development as I am going for. I also changed characters a bit around to my liking. But trust me, they look good.

I see, well I look forward to the finished drawings, then.

New drawing of the hero of my story.

This is practically the final design for him. I didn't use a art pencil, so it really isn't as smooth as I wanted, but oh well. I think it looks pretty cool.

not bad!

I'm gonna assume you're following some rules of proportion or anatomy on creating this guy (albeit exaggerating some aspects).

You might want to rework the left hand (his right) more. Also what is on the right (his left) arm between his bicep and his torso?
anyhoo, keep at it

I do believe it is the tricept. If that is what you are talking about.

Sure I still need some work with the hands and placement of the muscles. But you know the saying. Practice makes perfect.
