Ah! Shostakovitch! I like him a lot, and Penderecky (but he might be polish, can't remember)... Stravinskij is good too, though I didn't really like his 'firebird' suite... But my all time russian composer must be Kalashnikov! Such rhytm!
Oh, you remind me of my another man Kalashnikov(scream)
the rhythm of Russian composers almost kills me.
it's like heart-beating sound in a word,isn't it?
i won't listening to Shostakovich as driving. Never!!
That guy caused me to have nearly-car-accident more than three times.
Well, i like "firebird" not so much as "The rite of spring" though.

My favorite Shostakovich symphony is his eigth, probably because of its grotesqueness. I have a soft spot for the finale for his fifth as well since I played it while I was in high school. Ah, and of course his 'cello concerto.

That finale is my favorite which i always listen turning on high.
