Halo: Reach

Is the "new topic" button new? I don't remember it being on the right like that, it looks nice.

Oh yeah! The Beta for Halo Reach begins tomorrow! I'm not going to be playing, but will be purchasing the final game...I'm pumped about seeing a story told over a team of spartans, and the overall fall of Planet Reach..Bunjie is headed in the right direction I'd say, although there are few details about the campaign.

O yes! I can't wait for this. The Halo series left a bad taste after they started pumping out half assed games like ODST then that anime thing which was terrible, but REACH looks like it's going to be great. Halo in it's true glory!

I know right? :D They've described it as the "definitive" Halo.  I believe the team working on ODST was much smaller and now the full force of the studio is concerned with reach.  One of my favorite things about the halo series is the crazy cool environments...looking forward to all the different maps and locations.  In terms of art direction, I really dig the way everything looks.

I enjoyed ODST's firefight, but can't say anything about the story, never played it...

Probably be getting limited edition for nerd journals and little halo nick knacks/sweet case.  Although legendary comes with a pretty bad A figurine with the whole noble team:

Halo Reach feels like the same old Halo. You can fly now...cool. Collect skulls. Sprint! :isidro: Become a temporary statue for people to wait behind and assassinate. Go invisible, oh wait, you always could. There's now a gun that shoots stickies, so now mediocre players can stick n00bs too.

In short, go away Halo.

Sad face, you're going to miss out on haxoring newbs with that kewl plasma launcher.  :isidro:

I feel you, but I don't really want the experience to not feel like Halo.  I think the armor abilities throw a really interesting dynamic on gameplay, too.  I feel like the plasma launcher is going to be just as strong/balanced with the rocket.  Kind of the covenant alternative to anti vehicle.

I dunno, would you say that about other sequels, like, say, Megaman? Megaman 9, for example, was awesome in part /because/ it played like old school Megaman.

I agree that the similarity to older halos are nice, and give the game a nostalgic feel, like you're still playing the same series...but at the same time I think there's going to be a lot of new content.
