Batwoman's a Lesbian?

I like that she's wearing high heels (so convenient to fight crime). A definitely modern vision of womanhood.

Wow, this is a really suprising move for a comics company, owned by Time Warner or not. Way to appeal to your horny male fanbase. Now they have no CHANCE of scoring with Batwoman. :judo: But now there's a chance to see her score with... well shit there aren't any other lesbians in the DC universe.

This is altogether strange too. DC already has a firmly established Batwoman character in their main "universe". This chick will be in an altogether different "alternate gayuverse" according to what CNN's saying, and will run parallel with her straight counterpart.... Weird.

What's with the 5ft 10(is that like the perfect height for a lesbian or something), and the "more unique personality", can one actually be more or less unique?

Why do I have the feeling this change is just because of all the controversy over gay/lesbian couples lately?

It's not a new trend. It's just that now the gay culture has developed into something endorsed by major media. This move by DC and "Brokeback's" critical success are just the zeitgeist of what started over a decade ago.

It means here personality will be 70% brooding, 10% insanity, and 20% something else... as opposed to the 85% brooding, (now) 5% loner, and 10% insanity personality that all the others in the present "batman family" have.

Well, Montoya (Gotham cop) is a lesbian. But that's all I can think of outside the Vertigo line.

The present Hawk and Dove are lovers I think.  I'm sure theres no shortage of homosexuals in the DC universe (or marvel, Ultimates Collosus for example) its just not normaly mentioned in CNN stuff.

edit:  ohyea, and montoya isn't a cop anymore, she quit... she's now doing grunt work for... The Question! (see 52)  it was actualy rather amuseing, he tore the bat of the signal, sprayed a question mark on it, and pointed it straight at her apartment window for no apparent reason.

allright, I think I've earned my geek points for today.

Oh my god, that's awesome. I love that guy. And I love that the Reanimator guy voices him the the JLU show.

Funny article. I love how he tries to explain how they were just going for more overall diversity. If that was the case he would have no problem making a comic book with a gay male lead, lol. Don't think those will fly off the shelves too fast. Obviously just a gimmick for the appeal of lesbians to the main comic audience (men).

Very lame how they sacrifice the consistancy of an aleady established character though. How would a Spiderman fan feel if they wake up on day and he is admiring Rhino's ass. I'm sure there was a couple batwoman fans.

That article you linked was appalling Vax.

In Cthulhu, the protagonist is a gay professor at Cascadia University, who is called back to his hostile Oregon hometown in order to execute his mother's will. Gildark and Cogswell explained how the "latitude of the horror genre" and the "huge metaphors" that other horror films have exploited will allow the film to take on even broader themes, from suburban sprawl to free-floating anxiety about politics in this country.

Yeah right, the "huge metaphors." :schierke:

I suppose the next step if for Robin to get AIDS.
One of Green Arrow's sidekicks, the current Speedy (the girl) allready did that. She used to be a prostitute before GA recruited her.

I couldn't agree more in that this is another trend following Brokeback's success, and although not a new trend, it certainly seems to be getting more popular nowadays.  So I suppose DC's just trying to get in on the trend and make a bit more profit with its fanbase, which for most comics is typically male.

The world's turning gay, run for the hills!

My guess is it won't take many issues before the series turns into a softcore lesbian porn. Something about high society, lesbianism, and black spandex strikes me as the perfect setup for nerd masturbation material.

True, but why anyone would settle for this over the hardcore stuff on the internet is beyond me. :carcus:
