Berserk Merchandise / True or false?
« on: December 05, 2004, 03:52:10 AM »
I was just looking around on e-bay for rare BERSERK stuff when I came across this right here being auctioned for $0.99.

My question, to collectors, is if this and the other seller's items are legitimate. $0.99 seems like a really low price to pay for something that would be part of an exclusive minis set...and I couldn't find that on Art of War's site, though it did turn up more than once on Yahoo!Japan, so I'm confused. (And yes, people have sold limited edition figures for ridiculously low prices on ebay, not even Yahoo!Japan before; that's how I got my Guts Danzai Hen PVC for $15 ;D)

Shootin' the Breeze / For the few fans of Batman/DC comics in here

Batman Begins teaser trailer

This is not exactly the best or most explicit trailer to say the least...but at least it gives us a release date  ;D.

Like many others, I'm sure, I want this movie to connect to the first Batman movie, maybe even seeing Joker kill Batman's parents. And no connections to any of the other "movies".

Speculation Nation / Who will turn on Griffith?
« on: June 17, 2004, 07:41:18 AM »
This topic was probably kind of covered in a few speculation nation posts already, but I found no posts or topics so might as well start one.

Anyways, does anyone think that Ganishka will build a strong enough case for people in Griffith's group to join him? That the Apostles will get a lower opinion of Griffith at some point? Or that they'll turn against him or leave the Taka No Dan for another reason?
Here is why I think the following characters may end up leaving/turning against Griffith:

Zodd - Eventually finds out that Guts (or someone else perhaps) is the "Ultimate Strong One" and leaves in search of them. It's pretty far-fetched implying that Zodd will eventually team up with Guts in any way, but then, when I saw the first Zodd episode, I didn't think he would eventually team up with Griffith either. He also has a lot of respect for Guts as a person, but with Griffith, his respect for him mainly comes from the fact that he is Godhand and because of the Hawk of Light message (or so it seems).

Locus - Seems like a nice guy and so far he has killed only those who oppose his master. Doesn't act as sadistic or barbaric as some other Apostles and may end up turning against Griffith if he crosses the line in terms of evil.

Grunbeld - If he found the burning of Flora's house a dishonorable act, then he'll probably find Griffith's later acts even more dishonorable. But Grunbeld doesn't really seem like a likely candidate.

Void - Loves order and causality, while his fellow "Godhand" member Griffith only cares about ruling a kingdom, not really about keeping causality/Godhand intact.

Charlotte - too dumb to understand that Griffith does not really love her, but once she realizes that Griffith is only using her to rule Midland, and maybe at some point to give him a child, what will she think of him then?

Rakshas - already said that he wants Griffith's head, but does he just want it as a trophy or because he really hates him for some unknown reason? I'm guessing the later but you never really know with Apostle-like characters. Either way, I got the feeling that he is only teamed up with Griffith to bring down Ganishka; after that, he may care less.

Sonia - innocent little girl. Looks too innocent to take part in Griffith's sick plans.

Mule (couldn't fit on poll) - finds a way to resist Griffith's charisma somehow and leads a [weak] group against him after witnessing his evil first hand?

My theories are pretty wild, so feel free to add more logical ones.

Shootin' the Breeze / Categorize yourself
« on: April 14, 2004, 03:03:22 AM »
This article is pretty old and may have already been posted in this board because of that, but oh well, it's an interesting read:
http://www.somethingawful.com/article.php?id=61

I'm pathetic enough to place other people in categories, so I will based on the categories I've been given:

Mensa Trolls - Griffith, Walter
Derek Smart - Olivier Hague
Anime Freak - if you replace DBZ with Berserk, then everyone here, except for the people who post exclusively in Shootin the Breeze
The Flamethrower Clone - Griffith when pissed, DemonX, Skull Lo/ard, Wereallmad
Malf - Doctor Conspiracy / Man With a Grudge meets The Confused Newbie
Cute Gurl v2.0 - Lauralana
The Elite, Highly Advanced Forum Regular With 15 Million Posts - Vampire Hunter Bob(tons of one liners), pheonixfenix, Majin Tenshi
The Confused Newbie - too many to list...

I can already feel the flames I am going to get by some people because of this thread...like a Mensa Troll :) Anyways, feel free to flame me, my only request is that you do so while referring to that thread. Categorize me too while you're at it, if you can.

Some people can't be categorized, but that applies only to a few.

Speculation Nation / Why was Rakshas exiled from the Bakiraka?
« on: March 29, 2004, 05:24:36 AM »
When we first meet Rakshas, he talks about wanting Griffith's head, yet he pledges his allegiance to him. Not so long ago, he chooses not to attack Ganishka with the rest of his BOTH "comrades" but instead chooses to show his former Bakiraka comrades the dark nature of Ganishka. Could it be that he really doesn't give much of a shit about Griffith (though he would prefer having him dead) and just wants Ganishka dead? I think that Rakshas will have a part to play in Ganishka's demise. After all, Rakshas is much more involved in Kushan/Bakiraka affairs than in Godhand/elf affairs. For this reason, I predict that Rakshas will die along with Ganishka (or possibly join Silatt). Maybe Rakshas was exiled from the Bakiraka because he did not want to serve Ganishka like the rest of them. Only by allying himself with Griffith would his goal of Ganishka's demise even be possible. If it weren't for Rakshas, Ganishka would just seem like an overgrown Wyald (who rules an empire). Rakshas is awesome.

Berserk Merchandise / The search for the good Zodd statues/figures
« on: March 11, 2004, 03:43:42 AM »
I'm currently on a search for all the good versions of Zodd. I don't think I need to say it, but "good versions" do not include the regular human figure, the mini-figures, or the Kubrick stuff. I'm talking about the big statues, preferably the limited ones. Here are some ones in particular that I am interested in:

Also, I am looking for some the limited versions of Godhand+Griffith set:

and this Rakshas + Griffith figure set:

Speculation Nation / Gate watcher?
« on: February 22, 2004, 02:33:00 AM »
In the Great Eclipse, while Skull Knight is conversing with Zodd, he mentions Zodd watching the gate. I've read several translations of this one line. In one translation SK says "Skull Knight: You are assigned to be a Gate Watcher, Immortal thing.", another says "You have been commanded by the Gate Keeper.
Undead thing!", and a third one says "I take it you've been assigned as gatewatcher?"
The thing is, I don't know which line is accurate...
If Zodd is indeed a "gatewatcher", then that may mean that some apostles have actual positions, outside of the Godhand monsters. Perhaps this line hints at Zodd being the highest ranked apostle (next to Godhand of course). Also, before SK saw Zodd, Zodd was considered immortal because it was rumored that he had fought/lived for 300 years, but SK acknowledging him as an immortal may really mean that he is immortal. And if the second translation is accurate, was there some special apostle who was gatewatcher? Of course, all of this could just be bad translating, since I doubt there will be another eclipse to discuss the "gatewatcher" position", but if it is an accurate translation, then maybe Zodd has an even bigger role than we imagined.
