Other than Zodd, i think all the apostle are practically that arrogant.

Hmm... how about for a new ending using this thread... Gutts sword of evil somehow sucks the evil out of Griffith in one final battle, leaving Griffith to be the nice guy he was ruling over Midland peacefully and... uhh... no idea for Gutts just yet.

Except Griffith was never a particularly nice guy to begin with. He was manipulative and selfish right from the start. So I kind of doubt this scenario.
