Ok maybe just a little bit.

If by "little bit" you mean drawn with big streaky lines, yes. If you meant they shared physical resemblances, no. Either way, it's totally irrelevent, isn't it?

Bye bye, Elfhelm  :judo: :judo:

Most probably not the case, actually...

Anyway, people are jumping the gun, just because there's a fire on the docks doesn't mean every ship in the World is destroyed.

I didn't feel like reading 8 pages of your ramblings.

It's in the post with the link to the scans. :schierke: And that's certainly not a valid excuse. So next time you ask I guess I'll just delete your post.

The crocs were Pishacha, the whale was a Makara, what can we expect the tigers to be called? :???:

I think Pishacha is synonymous to Familiar, so I guess the Tigers, as well as the Crocodiles and the Elephants, are all supposed to be Pishacha... Not sure, though! :???:

Not exactly. Pishacha are "demon beast soldiers", it's the term applied to the crocodiles and elephants in Wyndham. It basically refers to animal-based monsters, and so the tigers fit that name. Now, they are familiars, regardless of how Ganishka calls them, but that's not really synonymous. The Serpents of Thorns are also familiars, but they're not Pishacha.

Yep, and the Makara was a huge monster, but it was a familiar too. See this previous discussion we had about it for more information.

OK, thanks for these precisions! :guts:

Well, I'm no kind of specialist in Magic, but according to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, a Familiar is described as "a spirit often embodied in an animal and held to attend and serve or guard a person". That's why I had basically say the Makara is not one, since the whale is really transformed, physically, when the other animals seem to stay the same, only they act as humans...
But since Schierke herself calls the Makara a Familiar, it for sure is one! :troll:

That definition is broad on purpose since the meaning of the word varies from region to region, and I don't see anything in it that addresses the physical aspect of the creatures being modified or not. The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition defines it as "An attendant spirit, often taking animal form." And the Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) lists a familiar spirit as "a demon or evil spirit supposed to attend at call."

As you see, not a basis by which you can seriously discriminate the creatures in Berserk, especially since they're inspired from Indian mythology in this case.

Yeah, no doubt.

I don't think there really needs to be a debate on what they're called. They're creatures that are remotely controlled and look all funky.

Do they really need a ship to cross? Couldn't puck get large and let everyone ride him or maybe have Guts swim with Casca on his back, or maybe Schrieke could teach everyone to ride a broom, or maybe SK will show em all where to get flying horses?

They look cool too! Much cooler then the Apostles :p

Hmmm I still wanna see if Gut's cover gets blown by Raban, yet somehow I don't believe that Miura will give us the satisfaction T_T

He's not really under cover, it just means that his friends would learn about his past. I don't think the nobles would care much about it at the moment, especially since the majority isn't from Midland.

Thanks for the clarification, Aaz. I'll call them Pishacha until Miura-sensei says otherwise. At least, on this board. Off site, I shall continue to call them RC Tiggers. :serpico:

I wonder about that. Granted in this situation they are preoccupied, but some of the nobles present at the banquet represent clergy, right? Or would at least know about the black hawk. And since they were hunting the black swordsman before, thinking he's the black hawk, the situation could get sticky. Of course, that doesn't factor in our friend the Emperor who has just made a housecall, nor the legions of Weird Monstrous Illusions(tm) that are knocking on the city gates just about now...

Guts is the only thing staving off the nobles' obliteration. When their lives are in danger, survival overrides religious affiliation. What are they going to do, slap cuffs on his wrists in the middle of a fight, calling him a heretic?

And last I checked, Monstrous Illusions couldn't rip a nobles' intestines from his body :SK: These are pishacha.
