Guts as a "real" monster

Guts went berserk in the eclipse. So the sword can't have a thing to do with it. I don't remember any real taka no dan berserking,

Thats iffy... did he have the demon eyes? I'm too lazy to check...

He has them in several panels. Is the eye thing that important anyway? Isn't it his actual state that's what's in question, not his pupil's location?

If you want to get really technical, the only time Guts is ever in his "berserk" state is in the DC game, since that's the only time his eyes glow red and create a motion trail .

he was definitely berserk on the way from Griffith's cell... come on guys, just look at his face.

his berserk state is not necessarily the Beast itself, or rather the Beast isn't the cause, in my opinion. Theres the berserk state which is the beast (notice the lack of a capital) and then the Beast, which is the result of his being in the interstice, and it growing a mind of its own to an extent. the Beast is temptation, the beast is just his anger, IMO.
