There's something I've wanted to get off my chest and I know it may anger a few ardent Berserk fans but I'm going to say it anyway. First off while I've seen the Berserk anime series I haven't actually read the manga, though I am aware of the basic storyline up to now.
Using information gathered from a few websites (mainly the faq from this site) I managed to piece together what happened after the anime. I have to say though I am very disappointed with the storyline Miura has chosen to pursue. It just seems to me that much of what is in the post Taka No Dan arc Miura could have done without. I mean, why did he have to spend so much time, and episodes, on irrelevant apostles like roshinu and the count? And what's with all the new characters that have popped up in the millennium falcon arc? They may play a small role in the climax of the series but you all know that their relevance is minimal compared to the central trio.
If you ask me Miura had the basic storyline with Guts, Casca, and Griffith (and perhaps also skullknight and the God Hand) sorted out years ago and is relying on our interest in that to keep us reading while the rest is just filler to extend the natural life of the manga to make him more money (and give him something to do). Pessimistic? I know but that's what I believe.
Your thoughts are welcome.
