Manga Recomendations

I saw Battle Royale in Borders. Since i've heard of the movies so I read a few pages of the manga at Borders and dam it's freaking violent . Oh and were can I buy the movies that are sub.

well probably cause it's shrink wraped with a big ass diclaimer sticker on the front as opposed to berserk's tiny mature reader warning on the back

So how's Naruto is it as good as everyone claims. Or is the manga just for mid teenagers. >:(
Naruto's good. It's the best series in the US version of Shonen Jump. Damn, why couldn't they have Kenshin? :-\

As for the mid teenagers part...it is a Shonen series, so it is written primarily for a younger readership, but it's still a great read. ;)

If you like Naruto, you should try the Gamecube fighter they made out of it...the characters are rendered very faithfully, thanks to the cell shading technic.Truly cool...

I don't think they made anything out of Hellsing, but there are two Playstation kenshin games,a 3d fighter and an RPG.The RPG is kinda of 16 bit looking and the fighter kinda of sucks, sadly.Still,it's worthwhile getting if only because of the anime scenes they implemented, inpired by the TV series but different nonetheless!!!

40 Bucks??That's not too bad actually, considering that game is getting pretty hard to find...
60 Bucks for the RPG,well, that's to be expected. That's about what I must have paid myself.

Yeah I've heard the Naruto games are really good. The one game that I really want to get is that Naruto game that is a Power Stone type of game it's recently new for the PS2. But when will the Naruto games be release over here in the U.S. when the Anime is finally lincense but Naruto is popular enough right now because of Shonen Jump.

Has anybody read Shonen Junai Gumi? I really like GTO and would love to read Bad Company, which is a one volume series about when Onizuka and Ryuji first met, and Shonen Junai Gumi, which is the series right before GTO when Onizuka is in High School.

If anybody has read either of these, tell me what you think of them. Are they as good as GTO?

I'm currently reading Shonen junai gumi.Hugely popular in Japan,it's definitely very good and funny,it's just too bad they started to release it abroad after they first released GTO.

The Black Chick of Darkness
Has anyone read "Priest" by Hyng Min-Woo. Yup it is a manhwa or a Korean comics. The first thing you notice is that is drawn the western way . It also a supernatural survival western ( but it is a alternate universe old west -see the anachronistic modern weapons) that has nothing to envy to berserk for hopelessness and violence. Like in berserk the protagonist (but by his own guilt here - he sold half of his soul to the devil) is a damned man that fights against the supernaturals creature to affirm his own life and reclaim back his soul.

I notice that their manwha is read in the Western way. Is this because Korean is read from left-to-right, or do they flip it?
Yeah, we read from left-to-right. and I myself also want to read Priest but I'm too lazy. :-[

Berserk is genius....pure genius!
i recommend Lone Wolf and Cub. its the best samurai genre manga ever. the only thing ive ever read that even comes close to Berserk. the main character is a totak badass.

Best ever in your opinion maybe I enjoy Blade of the Immortal far more than Lone wolf and cub... :-\

a sci-fi bitch
I bought Under the Glass Moon cause Tokyopop described it as some sort of gothic fantasy story...but there ended up being a lot of comedy that I didn't expect, SUPER bishounen, and just...lame kind of magic...the kind where they're just studious and know lots of spells and can whip shit out their ass like it's nothing. All the other people I know loved the damn thing cause omg there is a cameo by Gackt and Lady Battoli looks like Manasama!! But...err, I didn't think it was that great.

I saw King of Hell and the Cursed Swordsman comics too but was a bit wary of them for some reason...just cause I don't want to buy a comic that just has "cool" characters that do fantastic moves and blah blah blah. Is King of Hell the one where the guy's girlfriend/wife gets killed in the first few pages? That looked semi-interesting, but ultimately I said "put it down."

What's funny about not wanting to buy something that looks like its just a bunch of cool character designs and fights is that I LOVE Dragonball. Love it. To death.

As for Naruto, I was following it in Shonen Jump and thought it was pretty alright. Only recently, after Shonen Jump has been out for about a year, has the story started to get exciting and "good." One Piece, as well. Both stories are getting much more interesting.

Wish I could give you guys some more recomendations, but I read more shoujo type stuff than anything.

I believe that's Rebirth. I haven't read it yet, but I'd like to. King of Hell is about an idiot who escorts people to the afterlife. It's kind of stupid in my opinion.

Yup. Naruto and One Piece are both getting good. I don't know which one I like better, but those are the only two I really like. I like Shaman King a little too.

I like Shoujo. I love Watase Yuu's works and several other female manga artists. I don't like Rumiko Takahashi much...maybe I'm a little biased, but I believe women should stay out of the Shounen genre.

I havent come acrosss one person that has mentioned the Akira manga, that surprises me alot

i have read several manga series, my two favourites are by far berserk and akira, akira is an all time classic manga and anime, and must not be ignored under any circumstances!

cmon, there must have been someone else that has read it...

Akebobo

my god... it's full of pants
Can't believe that no one has mentioned any of the works of Masamune Shirow. Not sure if any are still in print, but dark horse comics has put out some excellent translations over the years of Black Magic M66, Appleseed, Dominion, and Ghost in the Shell. Here in Japan Ghost in the Shell 2 has been around for a bit, but I haven't heard anything on an english edition.

I'm still better than you
For those that are talking about Battle Royale. Volume 11 is out over here. Also, it was a novel first before it was a movie or manga. I also read (read, meaning looking at all the pretty pictures) when it comes out ever 2 weeks or so. It is violent but it goes into detail a lot more. Another thing, Battle Royal 2 is out over here in Japan...it actually came out 6 months ago or so. As normally, the sequel is nothing compared to the original but its still worth watching.

Second, for that person who is wondering about Bad Company. I just downloaded it... Some of you should use Emule, it's like Kazaa but not as user friendly. It is more reliable though, you can find more stuff on it. If you use Emule or any of its offspring, go to... www.sharereactor.com I found Bad Company on Emule.

Third, for those of you who want to buy foreign films (asian movies), and this is especially pointed to the person looking for battle Royal, try this place... www.HKflicks.com Good stuff there.

Has anyone seen Grappler Baki? And I dont mean the shitty 45 minute movie that is American released. The manga is alright looking but I believe Grappler Baki is the first Anime that looks better then its Manga roots...The characters in the Manga just look very homosexual and not very well drawn....

Also, for those that don’t like DBZ...who here likes thundercats? Who here likes Voltron? Who here liked G.I. Joe? Chances are, if DBZ would have came out at in the US, people would have liked it more seeing how it came out at the same time as the other shows I mentioned did. Anyways, that is all. Bye. ;)

some of the best mangas to me are:REAL BOUT HIGH SCHOOL,RAGNAROK( the cool ones),JING KING OF BANDITS, GET BACKERS,Tenjo Tenge, and Shirows dogs. 8)

Try those,

That is one of my favorites. :)
And I read in an interview he got inspiration for his drawing style from Hellboy.

I have not read many manga, but from what I have read.
Besides the obvious(berserk)
My favorites are:
