Movies to look forward to

Really? It looks fucking terrible to me.

That's what I thought when I first saw the preview. I've since reconsidered my position though. The reviews have been mostly positive, and it's not like there's anything else worthwhile in terms of science fiction coming out these days. I might as well give it a shot.

I'll be the first to put it in here ... though it's George Lucas producing it.

Red Tails ... I'm a big fan of WW/ WW II planes and I hope the movie backs substance. George is infamous for re-writes and he better not botch up the real story this's based on.

EDIT: Jet Li's new movie looks EPIC!

The first expendables was such a waste of time that unless the praise for the second is unanimous among action fans I'm not even going to blink at it. The original genuinely made me angry because of it's wasted potential, and my friend and I who saw it in a dollar theater both felt we had been ripped off.

The only good news I've heard so far is that at least Stallone isn't directing this one.

Rum Diary. Lookin hot!

Also, I may be jumping the gun here but I am looking forward to Tim Burton's next project which is an updated film adaptation of the classic Dark Shadows. It's got a pretty big cast - Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Helena B. Carter, Chloe Moretz, Jackie Earle Haley, Christopher Lee, Michelle Pfeiffer and Alice Cooper. Normally that would be enough, but of course leave it to set pictures to put me in panic mode.

Set photos aren't what set my alarm bells off; Tim Burton is like the Nicolas Cage of directors now. Except he's the one actually making the movies bad, and unlike Cage his unfortunately make money.

He goes both ways for me. It's almost like every other movie could be good. I liked Big Fish. Charlie and Chocolate Factory...no. Sweeney Todd = Great! Alice in Wonderland = all of my hate.

By my own personal account Dark Shadows has potential.

Cats are great
I'm going to watch the shit out of this.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is the long-awaited feature film version of John le Carré’s classic bestselling novel. The thriller is directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In). The screenplay adaptation is by the writing team of Bridget O’Connor & Peter Straughan.

The time is 1973. The Cold War of the mid-20th Century continues to damage international relations. Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), a.k.a. MI6 and code-named the Circus, is striving to keep pace with other countries’ espionage efforts and to keep the U.K. secure. The head of the Circus, known as Control (John Hurt), personally sends dedicated operative Jim Prideaux (Mark Strong) into Hungary. But Jim’s mission goes bloodily awry, and Control is forced out of the Circus – as is his top lieutenant, George Smiley (Gary Oldman), a career spy with razor-sharp senses.
Estranged from his absent wife Ann, Smiley is soon called in to see undersecretary Oliver Lacon (Simon McBurney); he is to be rehired in secret at the government’s behest, as there is a gnawing fear that the Circus has long been compromised by a double agent, or mole, working for the Soviets and jeopardizing England. Supported by younger agent Peter Guillam (Benedict Cumberbatch), Smiley parses Circus activities past and present. In trying to track and identify the mole, Smiley is haunted by his decades-earlier interaction with the shadowy Russian spy master Karla.

EDIT: Anyone read the book? How good/ bad is the book?

I didn't, but the premise is interesting. Might give it a shot.

The Divide ... looks interesting after the 1 minute mark.

I like the look of Dream House a lot, but the trailer gives away waaaay too much.
The movie was really bad, I admit. The trailer looked promising to me in-spite of revealing a lot. But, I wondered why ... and found this -

http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/news/a344870/daniel-craig-rachel-weisz-dream-house-director-wanted-name-removed.html

Dream House director Jim Sheridan reportedly wanted his name to be removed from the film, it has been claimed.

The director approached the Directors Guild of America over the summer about having his name taken off the picture, according to 24 Frames. The studio was reportedly unhappy with the amount of deviation from screenwriter Daniel Louka's script and took over the final edit following a poor test screening and a series of unsatisfactory re-shoots. Dream House stars real-life married couple Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig as a pair of newcomers to a suburban town who end up entangled in a local supernatural mystery. Weisz and Craig were also apparently unhappy with the final cut made by Morgan Creek and refused to do press or promotion for the picture. Sheridan has been nominated for six Academy Awards in his long-running career. The director made critically-acclaimed films such as In the Name of the Father and My Left Foot.
Damn.

A movie made to look like it was cut straight out of the early 70s. Fantastic trailer full of all sorts of hokey looking shit. :ganishka:

Oh c'moooon, you guys are no fun at all.

I guess it's my fault for liking stuff like the Paranormal Activity movies, Kick-Ass, and Hancock though.

Okay fine then, Happy Feet Two!. You have to be plain evil to not be looking forward to that. :azan:

Color me evil! If there's one thing I can't stand it's fluffy little cute things singing dirty dirty pop songs and everyone acting like it's hilarious. :puck:

I've heard that The Adventures of Tintin is not bad so I'm getting interested in seeing it. Has anybody here had the chance to see it?
