Of the armor Guts now wears...whose apparition carries a sword similiar to SKully's. I wonder who that guy was?!

Hmm so lets say the Skull armor was the default and since maybe Skully never had a beast, then lets just say this "morphing" armor just gave him the form of the default. Simple probably wrong but its an idea.
