We should probably do a Breaking Bad podcast.

I would love to hear the admins and any other members of the forum who would like to chime in talk about Breaking Bad. Are you going to wait for the show to end or should we expect a podcast soon? (If you guys decide to do it of course)

My fiancée and I didn't catch it the first time, either. We were like, "Wow... Walt's finally snapped." But you're right, the second time around it's obvious what he's doing. I'm going to be sad when this show is over.

I also didn't catch it the first time, and probably would have taken me a long time if I hadn't read it here :ganishka: So nice to see this pure act of love in such a dark episode. In the future, I hope at least Skyler would look back to their last moments with less enmity now...if she survives the last two episodes.

Of course Jesse will get away. First off, Jesse is off by himself, while everyone is distracted. Second, Jesse is in Walt's super fast car near a highway, those pickups wouldn't be able to keep pace.

Now that I saw the scene again, he did reach for the door after all. It's more likely he'll probably start screaming that there are millions of dollars buried nearby. It won't really do anything to improve his odds of surviving, but Walter can't keep getting away with it!

What the hell! That cliffhanger was maddening.

So who will make it out alive? On the one hand it's doubtful that Gomie, Hank, Jesse will die all at once, but on the other hand... Walter will probably not plead for Jesse's life now and there's no way that the nazis are going to let two federal agents live. And even if Jesse makes a run for it, they'll probably chase him down with their cars and assault rifles.

I hear you Viral Harvest, it's going to be hard to be productive this week.

That was hilarious. Dean Norris seems like a very funny guy, you can easily imagine him and Cranston clowning around on set all the time  :guts:

That voicemail Meth Damon left at the beginning of the episode could very well be the evidence that Hank is looking for. That kid sure has a big mouth, and you can't really blame Walt for not informing his former partners in crime of his current predicament - he's seen how Lydia reacts to "heat": exactly like he does. No half measures  :carcus:  Also, as you said Griffith the house doesn't seem burnt at all in the flash forward...maybe Walt Jr.'s at home and that stayed Jesse's hand?

And just how effective could Jesse Pinkman's testimony be? Walt could easily incorporate it into his "Evil Mastermind Hank" story by pointing out the beatdown Jesse suffered at Hank's hands and how Hank is intimidating Jesse into a false confession.

The writers are just outdoing themselves with every episode. Man, what a great show.

Current Episodes / Re: Berserk Hiatus for 19+ Weeks—A New Record

IMHO, I think Griffith got it right a couple podcasts back: Miura is really trying to make Berserk the best story of all time, hence the huge breaks. I'm really the person who just does things half-assed all the time so I'm not very familiar with the feeling, but those of you who rather do something perfectly or not at all can attest that this is a very emotionally draining process. Can you imagine doing your work this way for 20+ years? It would drive me insane, literally.

For some reason Miura strikes to me as the guy who will beat himself up over something that 99.9% of us wouldn't mind/notice. I just hope he's ok, that's all, sorry for the dramatic vibe  :iva:

And yes, there is not a single doubt that the next episodes will be mind blowing. If I remember correctly, the last time the series went through such long breaks was during the merging of the worlds and well.... let's just say that scenes from those episodes are what I show to people that I want to get into Berserk.

Works every time  :slan:

Man, this break is starting to affect me too. It's the unknown duration, really. It would have been totally fine with Miura coming out and saying 'Berserk to resume in 10 months', rather than having hopes every other week and then coming here and seeing the dreaded 'Berserk Hiatus for 19+ weeks' thread still at the top. I hope at least that we get 3 consecutive episodes after this break ends.

And also that Miura gets over whatever's been preventing him from continuing his masterpiece. It's got to be something serious (not exaggerating here, it's only logical to assume that), I just hope that it isn't something TOO serious.

Anime Asylum / Re: Berserk Golden Age Arc II: Capture of Doldrey [Review]

It was pretty awful, if it were anything other than Berserk I would have turned it off halfway. I really don't have anything more to say that has already been posted. Voted for Poor though, since it could have been much worse I guess. At this point the only thing to look forward to is to see how studio 4C will animate the Eclipse.

But hey, by the time movie 3 is done there will be tons of good AMV material to accompany Nomad's music, :cough: Griffith.

I love how Falconia, the plains around it, and the World Tree are so jaw dropping beautiful, but the sky looks so dark and ominous. Maybe Miura is conveying something here. :carcus:

Making the fields around the city to be in permanent springtime to feed the ever growing population...what a brilliant plan. The Godhand truly engineered everything in Falconia to contain huge amounts of people. Drawing the majority of the human population in their "protective arms" is really a crucial part of their plan, isn't it?

And damn, that foreshadowing of the dark sphere inside Falconia again. The dome of Griffith's palace, or something else? I hope when Rickert enters Falconia in the next episode that we'll finally get to take a look at it!

Cool beans dude, by the way - does that bracelet/ power band thingie work? What's it supposed to do?

It's supposed to give you 'balance', but it's a scam... I was swept away in the marketing craze surrounding it, but it's a total waste of money.

You're a braver man than me, Sura! What gave you the idea to jump in the first place?

Ah, just curiosity really. Something to cross off the list! :guts:

Congrats again :guts: You guys should totally print n'frame that photo, what a beautiful picture.

I performed an Isidro Jump right before the facilities closed down for winter, by plunging right into the Corinth Canal:

I almost pussed out seconds before the jump, but there were ladies watching. I could not afford to show any weakness.  :slan:

What a hilarious podcast, there were times that I laughed so hard I had to rewind just so that I could hear what you guys said :ganishka: The movies are so far gone by now, that any serious conversation about them is pointless.

Also congratulations Gobulatula and Grail  :guts: I think choking on and then vomiting out the ring would be pretty romantic actually, it would show that you're willing to brave death for Grail, Gobs. Just like Finn would have done for Princess Bubblegum.

Shootin' the Breeze / Re: Subs or Dubs?
« on: December 18, 2012, 09:10:10 PM »
I recall when I first found the '97 Berserk anime, I was faced with this choice. I decided that since this had a Medieval Europe setting, it would be more realistic if the characters spoke English instead of Japanese.

I've been pretty adamant about watching subbed versions ever since.

Video Games / Re: What Are You Playing?
« on: October 01, 2012, 07:59:14 PM »
I beat Diablo the other day and started on Diablo II. I can't believe I missed playing these games when they first came out.

Diablo 1's atmosphere was something else, wasn't it? Sadly, I wish I could say the same for Diablo 2.  I don't want to bias you negatively about it before you get a chance to play it but, that feeling you got when you first descended into the catacombs in Diablo 1 or when you first fought the Butcher? Nothing comes remotely close in the shitfest that is Diablo 2. As another member said once (can't remember who), Diablo 2 is more like Diablo 1 on crack.

On a related note, believe it or not guys but I played Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the 1st time just YESTERDAY. Didn't expect to get so much addicted to it really. Jumping back into it right now actually.

Sweet, I really liked the variety of this podcast. Is there any clue/teaser regarding this big subject you'll be tackling?

I usually down half a bottle of vodka before every presentation I make in university (talking in front of 100-150 people in an amphitheater isn't exactly my strong suit) so I understand where you're coming from IncantatioN. :serpico: You and Johnstantine should definitely come back for another podcast in the future.

And damn, I knew One Piece was good... but THAT good? The coup where you guys usurped LuffyKast SkullKast sold me, but One Piece is already like 700 chapters long and some friends who read it have actually told me that it can still easily go on for 700 more. That's 14+ more years in real time! Following Berserk & Vagabond 1 episode at a time for so long has already taken its toll on my sanity, I'm not sure I can handle another awesome series before my own Beast of Darkness takes over me. (So yeah, my fear is actually it being so good that it hooks me like Berserk)

Anyway, thanks for answering my questions. I was half expecting Griffith to give a villain's exposition about skull_l0rd, but I guess the legend lives on.  :badbone:

It does seem close, but I wonder if that can happen within one episode.

Yeah you're right, it's true that it's quite a stretch to arrive at Elfhelm within just one episode (more like impossible, now that I think of it). But I'd like to believe that we'll see at least the coast of Skellig before the next break. Guts will probably still be unconscious/bedridden by the time they reach it though. And should he get completely healed by the Elf King himself, it would be a good sneak peek of his powers before he treats Casca.

New episode?

Here's to hoping we finally see Elfhelm looming on the horizon towards the end of next episode! It seems surreal to me that we're actually just a couple of episodes away from it, and I've been following the series a short time compared to other members (4 years). I can't imagine how someone who has been waiting for it for 10 years must be feeling about 3 weeks from now.

1. Apart from Aaz's theory that Casca was supposed to die at the end of the Incarnation Ceremony but was saved at the last minute, do you guys believe that there are other instances of the Idea of Evil's plans not going exactly as planned?

2. Was Skull_l0rd_femto an admin in disguise? If so, what was the reason behind that?

I just finished reading Think of a Number by Josh Verdon. I really liked it, was glued to the pages and went through it in very few sittings. I recommend it to anyone that wants to read a good (and pretty original IMHO) thriller/mystery.

Also, Nomad! chill out with your podcast music deadline! Your music/clips are always worth it. Life happens - it's all good.

I second that. Nomad, it has become something of a ritual for me to restart the podcast 5-6 times before actually listening to it, in order to hear the intro music again and again. And when I first heard 'Serpico', I thought Walter took it from an actual video game or movie soundtrack (I have listened to the 21 podcasts in a very mixed order, and missed the intro walt made for your track in an earlier podcast.) Btw, I recently heard your 'Hill of Swords' piece. Blown away. Keep em coming!

Great episode. The part where you all watched the dub trailer and the comments that accompanied it was my favorite. Neat idea! I really believe you should do more of these in future podcasts. You know - not necessarily in every episode... but every once in a while would be amazing.

Also, I would like to point out that SkullKast probably has a bigger audience than you guys might think. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that two of my acquaintances from my university class actually download and listen to podcasts, since both of them are pretty 'casual' readers of Berserk and generally aren't too much into the whole 'participating in forums' thing. Let's hope that your discussing of the manga has opened their eyes about how much of a masterpiece Berserk really is... their casual and 'just another manga' approach to Berserk enrages me!  :mozgus:
