It has nothing to do with Dark Horse (what?).
Oh. My bad. I'm not used to english editors and you were also speaking about translations by Dark Horse so I got them confused. Sorry. :farnese:

Anyway, Japanese people get English words wrong all the time. Look no further than "Knight of Skeleton"  :ganishka:

True haha! :serpico:

Also, "Blame!" Itself is a bad translation, since it's pretty obviously supposed to be the onomatopoeia of a gun firing: "BLAM."
I have no doubt you must know what you're talking about but are you sure? (I didn't read it yet.) In that case it's probaly not a mistake made by Dark Horse Vertical since it's exactly written "Blame!" on the japanese volumes. Or maybe that's what you meant? :???:

On the subjet of the Deluxe Berserk edition, as long as it's not something official from Miura/Miura's editors I'm not interested. They'll probably reuse the same sources files and stretch them.

There is an exhibition with a Guts statue signed by Miura. I never wanted a Berserk statue so badly.

Sources :

I had actually looked at it before but I found it to be excessively goofy for my taste. It might just be another misleading introduction though.

I can understand your point of view, it's possible it was a bit goofy at the beginning indeed, I don't remember exactly to be honest.

Boichi's art style is amazing when he's serious.

I totally agree with you on that.

Besides Berserk, my favourites would be Monster, Vagabond, Slam Dunk and of course the great Hunter x Hunter.

I could add more like Vinland Saga, Real, 20th Century Boys, Dragon Ball, One Piece, but if I had to choose they wouldn't be my absolute favourites. I also recently started reading Kingdom and I feel that I'll like it a lot.

I'm at around vol 8 of Monster, but I lost interest. Seems pretty overrated to me.

Give it a second chance! :puck:

Aside from that, other titles that I'm fond of are The Breaker and The Breaker: New Waves, which is actually a Korean manhwa series. It's one of the best Karate Kid type formulas that I have encountered. Great artwork, drama, martial arts, the whole package.

Then I highly recommend you Sun-Ken Rock, a manhwa too, in the same style, but way better in all aspects in my opinion. :)

Do what I did and stop actively waiting and assume it's over... until proven otherwise. :griffnotevil:

Yeah you're right, I should do that.

I go into detail in the post below with links to Inoue's thoughts and a summary of the exhibition where he kind of wraps up everything before he gets there.

I'll take a look, thanks.

Nice interview, but i'm getting tired of waiting for him to get back to Vagabond or Real...

I finally watched "I Saw the Devil" today, it has been recommended to me here quite a long time ago after I watched Oldboy. A very well orchestrated revenge story, it was great. I recommend it to anyone who might be interested if some violence doesn't bother you too much.

BOOOOOO! Well, then I'm not coming to visit this weekend, dad!

The fire alarm went off during the trailers! Will update/consolidate posts later. :ganishka:
So unlucky! :judo:

I came out of the theater 2 hours ago, I had a really great time. Those 2h43 felt so short, I wish it was even longer! Just like the original Blade Runner, I really loved the awesome atmosphere. I don't really have anything to add to Walter's analysis except that I would give it a 9/10 and I think Ryan Gosling did a pretty good job.

And I don't really agree on Deckard being a replicant.
"We learn that Deckard went on the run with the remaining old-era replicants"
Didn't he run away with Rachel only?

"Fear of other blade runners hunting him"
Probably because he ran away with Rachel, and futhermore had a child.

"Wallace regards him as “a wonder” at his role in creating the first replicant child"
Maybe because he's a human having a child with a replicant?

I don't want to open a "nerd debate" as you call it because I don't really care, but I'm not really convinced. Perhaps I'm too naive, or I maybe need to rewatch the first Blade Runner to refresh my memory

Anyone watch the short movies they released? I haven't ...

I did, you can find them on Youtube, they're interesting. The first one is a short anime, I liked it.

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: Movies you've recently watched
« on: October 10, 2017, 05:46:37 PM »
And to be fair, the movie does represent different POVs or aspects of science and humanity with Mann and Hathaway at opposite ends of the spectrum and Michael Caine and Coop somewhere in-between. Coop will earnestly make the hard choices, but he's altruistic, honest and not cruel. Him going after her at the end was a nice conclusion.
I can only agree again! :serpico:

My point was there aren't many like Interstellar and it should be more appreciated and elevated above the typical alien, cyborg, and time travel gimmick movies that come every year like Christmas and get a pass (they're basically just thrillers with a sci-fi twist). But, uh, Aliens and Star Trek? :guts:

Oh, of course, you're 100% right, sorry I misunderstood you. About Star Trek, I don't know why but it never really interested me, I'll give it a try someday! :guts:

I think the turning point is what's-her-name's clumsy love speech; the idea there could have been conveyed much better.
I agree.

Yeah, but it's much softer than all those other aspirational sci-fi movies about interstellar space travel, black holes, relatively, and humanity.

Do you have any recommandations?

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: Movies you've recently watched

I also loved Interstellar! :schnoz:

Blade Runner was good. Carve out 2h43m of your lives and go see it  :void:

Unfortunately I haven't had time to watch it yet, but like Griffith and Incantation this hypes me up even more!

I'm watching it tomorrow.
Maybe I'll leave work early this week and see it before I go home.

I'll probably watch it friday. Even if I think you won't, don't forget to use spoiler tags! :guts:

Podcast / Re: Skullknight.NET Podcast: Episode 90
« on: October 06, 2017, 08:24:14 AM »
That's a popular answer to this predicament, but it doesn't work for a few reasons:

1) We've seen on three occasions the boy astrally project a body. It's that white figure that speaks to Guts (eps 241, 316, 327). Under what you're positing, the boy is an astral projection who can project another astral body, which is pretty convoluted.

2) The boy is perceived by everyone as a physical being, with weight, and is subject to gravity, unlike any astral/luminous body in the series.

3) He is able to slip under Schierke's radar only because she's never been cognizant of when he's used his powers (check all three instances; in each, she's been preoccupied or unconscious).  If the boy were a pure astral body, he'd stand out like fireworks to her perceptive eyes.

Yeah, you're totally right, it should've raise some questions. It all makes sense now, thank you for clarifying Walter !
