Well, some people enjoy refined dishes and find in them a flavor that many others do not even notice. Those other people are usually satisfied with eating in fast foods.

hehe.. easy.  I love SC.  I just don't think it has much of a story.

Is it just me or do alot of people in the Berserk-fandom tend to be artistically inclined?

Artists know good art when they see it.  Miura's stands above most.  :troll:

The story of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur saga is more elaborate, deeper, richer and subtler than that of many other fighting games.

Perhaps needlessly so, but I see you're into it.   :serpico:

Interesting pic with the leftovers.  Kind of an abstract beherit?

Yea Serpico's right about Luca's eyes.  The right eye seemed higher to me initially but it's fine.

New trailer : (light or darkness, game info first lines) and (the Soul Edge Timeline events).

Thanks for the links.  So apparently it both takes place in the 16th century and "transcends history and the world"?  wieeerd  :guts:

(I mean, do you think you could strike at someone with a sword while swimming?)

Yes... Yes I do.

Hmm, got in a guild yet? And as a tank, I recommend you to max out your run speed and endurance skills. Stay in defensive stance too. When the gankers come and if you feel they'll overwhelm you, take a sprint for the nearest body of water. Keep potions ready to use too. That should help I think.

They were making fun of this sort of thing on GFW Radio the other day.  Apparently you can't be attacked when you're in the water (even by alligators?)  They described the rush to the water to avoid gankers like some kind of reverse "Jaws" scenario.  Quite funny to listen to.

Lookin' good, vee!  Something about the structure of Luca's hands and eyes bugs me, tho.  Can't wait to see the final result

In the beginning, I just hope that Darth Vader and Yoda will be playable only as guests, as a bonus and not a part of the story. I mean, it doesn't really matter for me, and the roster will be better (especially for the Versus part) but I'm really concerned about the consistency of the Soul Calibur/Soul Edge concept.
Everyone knows the historical background is the 16th century (even Link's presence from SoulCal II GC version wasn't credible though the Zelda universe was maybe easier to connect to than with Spawn or Heihachi).

Your first mistake was to assume Soul Calibur has any sort of real story.  Its more of a "ok they're all after this swor-- oh who gives a fuck? FIGHT!"

It's not much of a concept, and nor should it be.  People typically don't play SC to see what happens to the characters, they're after a great fighting game.

As for defining "historical background take place in the 16th century", it really has never been stated in the game (to my knowledge).  SC's arenas are likely created to look pretty while you fight in them, rather than tell a story or have any real history.  They pretty much can throw any character they want in there as long as it doesn't mess up the fight mechanic.

Shootin' the Breeze / Re: 2008 Presidential Primaries
« on: May 23, 2008, 08:15:04 PM »
I don't understand this either because California already voted for their nominee and none of this has anything to do with bobby kennedy. So why bring it up?

Well the argument for June doesn't have much validity as the primaries were earlier this year, and the delegate count wasn't the same for Bill Clinton.

The assassination thing is a bit wierd, tho.  Perhaps she's hoping someone takes out Obama  :troll:

The cage, I couldn't think of a better title for the thread.

Mother locks children in cage, sentenced to 20 years in jail.

-"I love it.  Print it"  :badbone:

The cage or the sentence?

I would assume he's referring to the mom if the thread wasn't titled differently.  :guts:

That aside, throwing your kid in a cage is pretty fucked up.  I agree she isn't technically a "threat to society", but a little time in a cage herserlf wouldn't be bad.

What the fuck... Kojima finally realized his dream of being a film-maker it seems.

Yea, a film maker without an editor, it seems.

I'm not sure I have the patience to sit through cutscenes that last over an hour.  Even if they're pause-able and skip-able (no chapter selection?), there has to be a better way to tell the story in a game.

we could have made a guild called the "Knights of the Skull" or something. :void:

Knight of Skeleton?  :badbone:

It has at least one 90 minute cutscene:

...I'm sorry, that's just ridiculous.  :schierke:

Was outta town but it looks like I made it back just in time for the episode  :ganishka:

Since there is no official thread in this i decided to create one... For I feel it deserve to have its own thread here...

I mentioned it in the "looking forward to" thread

Oh just for a slight spoiler, the storyline is way better than Ong Bak and Tom Yung Goong, seriously...  Thailand film has come a long way... :badbone:

It's interesting, but I feel the premise is just an excuse to go from fight to fight.  Like fight porn or something  :carcus:
I wouldn't expect it to be good, but fun to watch

It's Advent Children all over again.  For some reason I can imagine the leading staff of Playstation keeping Kojima in a room  with threats of terminating his family if he doesn't meet quota.  That was... horrible.

Totally agree, just didn't wanna be the one to say it  :guts:.  I'm at serious risk of really disliking this game...

Which ones do you guys recommend?

I haven't seen all of them, either, but I'd fathom that all of them are probably good.  If you got a good TV then Last Emperor should be very pretty to look at (if memory serves).

And if you got a good sound system then Gimme Shelter will be awesome.

There's always going to be some kid somewhere who gets off on calling others 'noobs', or claims superiority because they've played the game since beta.  And whether it be one high level who gets off on killing lower level players or a group of lower levels that gank you when you first start, that shit is to be expected whenever you start playing a MMO.  That doesn't bother me nearly as much as crippling lag/bugs that happen in the first few months of a MMO launch.

Besides, I just started WoW like a month or two ago.  Barely scratched the surface of that so I don't see a really good reason to switch just yet. :troll:

ooh... Last Emperor on Blu-ray should be awesome.  Been meaning to pick that up but I'll wait for the HD version, now.  :badbone:
