Shootin' the Breeze / Do you want to learn Japanese?
« on: May 06, 2014, 01:35:09 AM »
Howdy folks, long time no post! As the title suggests, would you like to learn Japanese? Well I have something that you might be interested in.

A friend told me a about website that he has been using to learn Japanese, specifically Kanji, for a bit of time. After a month and some change of using it, I am a huge supporter of it now. I have learned probably 75 kanji during that time frame. That may not seem like a lot but learning a new language, especially with Kanji can be a very challenging thing.

Without further ado, I present to you, - The Crabigator

This link here, , can explain how it teaches you, the thing that got me into it was the whole "level up" aspect. You learn a kanji or a radical, type it out right after a few days, you get some "exp" that moves you closer to the next level. As an avid gamer, I automatically get into the mentality of, "I want to level up and win the game!  :zodd: "

This site is good if you are busy with other things like family, work, etc since its at a "your own pace" type of structure.

So If you want to learn some 日本語, then I would suggest you check it out. The first two levels are free and I would suggest you complete though's first before you setup a subscription.

Also if you do stick with it, here is a supplementary site that goes with WaniKani.

Its pretty easy to figure out but you just set it to the level that you are on and it will display sentences with the kanji that you should know to help with memorization and most importantly, which version of the kanji to use. Be warned though that this site is learning just Kanji, not sentences structure, so you will have to do some independent studying if you don't have that aspect down.

This thread is obviously open for any comments or questions! Happy studying!  :carcus:

Video Games / Game Sell/Trade
« on: September 24, 2009, 02:51:56 AM »
Howdy all! Well after getting the ok from the powers that be, I am starting a thread to sell/trade my PS2 Games and anything else game related that I may choose to sell at a different time.

Time's are tough and I need to get some extra money. I have quite a few games that I no longer play for my PS2 so instead of letting them go to waste, maybe somone out there would be interested in getting them!

Now before we get to the good's, I want to set some rules just incase this catches on and others want to do the same...

1. State where you are willing to sell/trade to.
2. I would recommend if you dont use it already, to use a service called heatware. Their address,, gives you the ability to have a buyer/seller rating profile where people can give you positive and negative points. It's a decent way to keep track of who is good and bad for doing business with. With that my heatware profile is kuroikenshi. You may see it at 0 but I assure you that I have already dealt with a few people at some other forums.
3. I think everyone should be able to use Paypal as their main way to pay for things. You don't have to but in my opionion it does make things easier.
4. I think pictures of the actualy producuts for sale would be good to show others that you actually have what you say you have. So along with the pictures of your items, get a piece of paper and put your SK account name on it and have it in the picture.
5. No virtual products: IE, WoW accounts, CD key's, etc, etc. You can do it if you want to but if there is any drama, dont bring it here!
6. Try to keep your sales to one post to keep this thread organized. Also please make sure you point out any items that have already been sold or traded so that we can avoid confusion.

Alrighty, I think that wraps that up! Anyways, on to my goods!   I am copying and pasting my thread from the following website.

Selling anywhere in the world!

Please be aware that I do not have the original cases nor the manuals for said games but they do work since they have been in my protective case ever since I last played them. Also that these games are all NTSC-U so they will not work on your systems if you do not have a US PS or if your's is not modded.

Also I am looking for some games for other systems, namely for my original Xbox... Here are a list of games that I am looking for.

Halo 2
Dynasty Warriors 3

Here are my goods for sale!

Edit 2: Gameboy color WITH Dragon Warrior monsters!  :isidro:

EDIT: Four new games for sale!
Phantom Brave - Slightly scratched but I have the case
Disgaea - Slightly scratched as well but works! No case
.Hack DVD 1- Have the case and no scratches
GTA San Andreas - Have case no scratches!

I just made a heatware account earlier this week so I am sitting at zero but I have traded with others on this board such as Tau, Overclocking101, and llllllllllll.

My heatware name is the same here, Kuroikenshi.

I do have tons of extra CD/DVD cases so I would obviously put the goods in there and send it out to you! I am asking for about $15 shipped per. I live in Japan so it can be a bit expensive to send things. :o

PM me if you are interested! Paypal only!

Video Games / GameGun
« on: September 01, 2009, 03:49:13 AM »
Not sure how many people have heard about this or seen the demo's but a while back (6 or more months ago), a slightly redneckish guy made this crazy gun mod for FPS games. Well he has just announced that he is going to put these into production and that they will be ready for Christmas and be compatible with all the latest consoles.

It would be pretty neat and goofy looking at the same time but damn I bet it would be fun!

Also the Mech Warrior creators are going to be releasing Mech Warrior 4 for free along with its expansions!

Video Games / Descent into madness.....

So I have made it my goal to get to level 9999 in Disgea for the Nintendo DS. You can just imagine how much of a pain in the ass this is... with that I will give play reports from time to time on my abusive journey. Will I make it? If so at what coast?  :void: I am going to avoid Gamefaqs at all costs to avoid stumbling on way's on how to level up incredibly fast if a way exists and prefer to find it on my own.

Day 1: I suppose I've just been leveling up in the first few stages trying to get my preferred group of characters and trying to unlock some of the better ones along with getting some good items to start of well prepared. Currently my group consists of..

Leharal lvl 9
Etna lvl 7
Pugilist (melee type) lvl 8
Cleric lvl 7
Red and Yellow mage lvl 5
Warrior lvl 4

As you can see I have a loooong loooong way to go. With that things should go quicker since I have already beaten Disgea for the PS2 so for the most part, things are the same. So far my health in both body and mind are holding for the time... I can only pray that they maintain at that level.

Video Games / Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition
« on: June 24, 2009, 01:26:43 AM »
Not a video game per say but a game none the less!

So what's the deal with this. Anyone have the players handbook? I hear that it simplifies a lot of things to make it a more pick up and go type game.

Anyone have a 4th edition handbook they don't want anymore? We can trade!  :carcus:

I started to get my oldest son involved with D&D and he seems to be having a good time with me telling him stories in a grandeur's way!

I am trying to get my wife invovled but she keep's saying that she doesnt have time and doesnt want to think! I plan to change this!

So let me have it, what are your opinions of the 4th edition?

Alrighty... shit has hit the fan. Ganishka has opened up like a piñata and the evil and good candies are spilling out over the world. With that, lets see what shows up... I know the whole world isn't going to be shown up (well maybe it will) but just for the hell of it, lets keep track of what is shown. Make your guesses here and I will try to update the OP as much as possible.

I know this may not sound like an exciting topic and granted people probably get a what ever feeling with the start of more mythical/magical creatures showing up BUT Miura has done a great job of giving his own personal touch to them to give them a fresh feel to them.

Unicorns  Shown!
Hydra Shown!
Harpies I'm dumb!  :???:  Shown!
Nymphs (all sorts)
Leviathan/Kraken/Giant Squid or Octopus
Giant Boar ( forgot the name)
Charybdis & Scylla

Ugggh, that's all that I can think of off the top of my head! I am excited to see how Miura goes about depicting some of those guy's. Keep in mind the following have already been shown.

Video Games / MMO Talk
« on: April 10, 2009, 03:39:38 AM »
Hello all, the residential MMO whore is wanting to make a thread where we talk about current and up and coming MMO's. I am going to start off with the one that I am currently playing, Darkfall.

Darkfall is a made by a small Greekish company called Adventurine. Its a game that is being compared to the likes of Ultima Online. There are no levels or exp but the more you use your skills, the higher you get. Lets go over the good and bad things that I have observed.

Good:-Not restricted to one class
-Player run economy
-Not a dumbed down MMO
-You need skill, tactics, and perception to accomplish things.
-No auto swing for anything
-Armor has an affect on your stats, ability for your skills, and how fast you can run

Bad:-GUI needs a lot of work
-Currently has a journal system to keep track of your quests, friends, and kills but its through an internal web browser that sucks.
-Some features are currently disabled since they do not work or are not implemented yet.
-Hacking ranging from speedhacks, teleportation, invulnerability are in the game unfortunately (I got ganked by a group of 5 guys who caught up with me on my mount this morning before work .   )
-Delayed mob spawning.
-MOB AI is retarded and easy to exploit.

You can find mobs practically anywhere in the game but the catch is... they wont be there waiting for you. If you know that there is a spawn of Orks where you are at, they will spawn there after about a minute or so of waiting. Not sure why they did this but it can make things a bit exciting if you are fighting off a ganker or if you are the ganker... then to see about 3 to 5 mobs start rushing you and/or shooting arrows or spells at you. Mobs of entirely different strengths can be clumped together so you really have to pay attention to your surroundings.

With in the game you have your standard Health, Stamina, and Mana bar. Everything in the game (almost everything I guess) uses stamina. Doesn't matter if its spells, it uses stamina... If you jump or sprint, it drains your stamina a lot so you can't be all willy nilly like with it. This proves true not just in PvE but more importantly in PvP.

Mob's are really stupid in this game. You can solo just about anything if you know how to use the terrain that you are around. My friend and I decided to go hunt some Hill Giants near our town. We found them and went onto this rock. These giants are huge and it was funny watching them chase us  to the rock and once we got onto it, fall back and just stand there while we pelted them with arrows and magic missiles. They had a lot of HP and it took a while to take them down but they did. It was funny though that by the time we killed the three in the area, that they had respawned... so started the chase of one of us being the bate and kiting the three while the other grabbed all the loot. It was a good time to be playing Yakity Sax's.

With that all mobs can be skinned for various things, mainly for regents used in weapon crafting, armor crafting, enchanting, and alchemy. All the best weapons so far are all crafted and take many PvE components and gathering materials like ore, wood, and reagents.

All in all the PvE is so bad and it can keep you awake. Also another thing to keep those of you who want to be semi safe if you decide to play this game is that all the start towns/capitals have guard towers in them that will hit people that try to attack you (that you are not at war with) or those of other races. You can use this to your advantage actually by finding two people that are fighting who are at war with each other. While they are fighting get in their way and get hit by them. Since you are not at war with them the towers will attack them and you have a chance to get all of their loot!  :rakshas:

With that there is a bank system in game and its universal so if you put your crap in one bank, you can access it anywhere else in the world.

The bread and butter of this game. As with many games you can get create your own guild's and align yourself with other guilds to become super guilds! With that if you are at war with someone they can attack you even in the start towns with out repercussions. So unless you are going to war, hunting monsters, or ganking, keep all of your good stuff in the bank.

After you have created a guild you can scrounge up enough money and get a clan stone. This will give you the ability to make your own town at various locations in the world. Once you get your place in the world you can set your bindstone (Hearth, recall area, what ever) to there to cut down on travel time. From there you can start to build up your town with various services like a smelting building so you can make metal ingots our of that iron ore you got, or a fighters guild so you can learn more melee skills.

With guilds you can declare war with each other and thus take over their city. The nice thing about this is that if you destroy their clan stone, you can set up yours and take over all that shit  :guts: .

Another system that is in the game is an alignment system. You start off at 0 and if you hit a person of your own race, you will go grey which puts into an attackable state by your own race for a short time. If you do not attack after that you will return to normal after about 10 to 15 seconds. If you kill someone of your own race you get negative alignment and drop down 8 points. If at anytime you fall below into the negatives you turn red and will be attackable by your own race and guard towers, so this means that you cannot return to the starter towns until you get rid of it. You rid yourself of the negative alignment by killing other races and finishing them off. Each kill is worth 8 positive alignment points.

There are several ways to function in game if you are a murder but each is its own risk... .one way is to go to a chaos stone. its a usually a neutral NPC town where anyone can bind to. Another way is that there are places called Wilderness banks where its just a small small encampment with a merchant npc and a bank. Both areas can be good places to get trapped and to spring traps.

Weapons come in all shapes and sizes and act differently. Currently two handed swords are the flavor of the month since they have the longest reach and hit hard. Polearms used to be the hottest thing since they came with an inherit push-back. That gets annoying though if you are chasing runners and what not. I use great-axes cause I want to be cool which they hit the hardest i believe. Daggers are worthless since being right on top of people is very difficult and right now Archery is king.

There are two different views in game when fighting. If you are using siege weapons like cannons, archery, or magic, you will be in a straight up first person mode. If you are in melee mode, you will be sent to a 3rd person mode with limited zoom back abilities. I keep stuff for any situation... if I wear down my stamina when fighting mobs or people, i switch to my magic staff and cast my Mana to Stamina spell then go back to hitting stuff with my bow.

Potions are in game and they do what you expect for each bar. There are currently three levels of effectiveness from minor, medium, and large which heal for various amounts. There are timers on the potions so you cannot use them at all times.

Food also plays a role in game since it helps your health and magic recovery. Most items are player crafted and you can get tools and some reagents to create these items from NPC vendors. Other you need to get from mining, lumber jacking, fishing, skinning, or by some other means.

I know this was rather long winded but if this has gotten you interested in this game, lets talk about it! This game is not for everyone. It can be mean and cruel and make you cry if you do not think before you act. You could lose litterly everything in 30 seconds if you are not aware of your surroundings. I enjoy this game because its not easy and takes for ever to skill up things. I enjoy the tension and its a good break from easier games like WoW and what not. So if this sounds like your type of game check out the link from above! :serpico:

Video Games / SK.Net's Mass Gamer Tag Thread

So here we are all liking to play games, some of which are online. With that, how about we share our gamer tags for any and all systems that we play online with?

I know there are a few threads out there for specific platforms like the Wii friends code but how about we consolidate it? So you can follow the format below and place the console type below in bold with your id below it. If you use the same ID for multiple platforms, then just stack the platforms on top of each other with the ID below.

Well as days go by with this affecting a lot of places and people. I came to in this morning and saw that the yen to dollar ration dropped down to 86 yen to the dollar!  :troll:

As a contractor who doesn't get any COLA (extra money to offset local currency exchange rate) and all of that stuff like many of the teacher and other GS-official employees, this really hurts.

So how is this craziness effecting you guys where ever you are? Also when do you think it's going to end or what would be needed to have it end.

I have heard that a lot of places are pumping their money into the yen thus why its getting stronger against the Euro and Dollar. Any one else care to add anything?

Shootin' the Breeze / Official SK.NET Cooking Thread
« on: November 22, 2008, 09:52:43 AM »
Today’s cooking with Saiyajin No Ouji

As many of you requested, here is my thread about the joys of cooking.

Today’s meal is…. Home made pizza!

A quick picture of my main ingredients!

EDIT: I have garlic salt in there but I made a mistake! It should be Garlic POWDER.

The following measurements make about 2 good size pizza’s. Cut these in half to make one or double up to make 4! (You know you want to!)

½ cup warm water (40C degrees)
3 and a half cups flour (All purpose bleached or all purpose non-bleached are ok)
2 tablespoons yeast (Any yeast is ok)
1 and a half table spoons white sugar
½ cup milk
2 table spoons cooking oil
Lot’s of patience

1.   Dough making!

Get a mixing bowl and dump your water into it. Put half a table spoon of sugar and a table spoon of yeast into it. I stir it with a fork to really mix the sugar and yeast together. Once you mix it quickly, let sit for 5 minutes.

After that, dump a cup and a half of flour into it, along with your milk, the rest of the sugar, cooking oil, rest of the yeast, and a BAM of salt!

Stir one direction 50 times, then the other direction 50 times.

Add the rest of your flour and stir that son of a bitch around until it gets rid of its stickiness and toss that bad boy to a floured surface and let sit for 10 minutes. Should look something like this.

While waiting get another large bowl and oil it up.

After that, kneed that mofo for 5 to 10 minutes.

Once done I slam it on the table or where ever you’re kneading it at a couple of times to make it in a nice ball and place it in the bowl. Get a wash cloth and get it wet with warm water, drain the towel and place it on your bowl. Wait…. 1 fucking hour!

Time to play some WAR (or what ever you want to do to pass the time) in the mean time!

"Look at dat fuggin Squiga."

Last part!

If you have gone past an hour, don’t worry about it. Dough should be double its size roughly so now its time get a little bit of flower on your knuckles and punch the dough down the middle and cover it back up with the towel.  During this time preheat your oven to 190C or 375F.

During this time cook up your toppings. I am going with a simple set of just pepperoni and chunks of Jimmy Dean Sausage!

When your toppings are done, go ahead and lay some flour down on an area, which you will be kneading your dough a little more. Once it is ready, oil up your hands and get the dough out! Start kneading it for a few minutes and start making it into your basic pizza shape! Since I only have a conventional oven, I have to make mine into a square, but its all good!

Once its down, get your cooking sheet and put some foil on it and oil it up lightly. Put your pizza crust onto it and load up your toppings. By this time your oven should be done preheating. Your pizza should look something like this!

Wife messed up the photo! Sorry for the blurriness!  :judo:

Put that bastard in the oven and cook it for 17 minutes!

Look at that fucking pizza. God damn does it look tasty…

Hope you guys and gals get a chance to try it out! I am sure it will be just as tasty if not better then mine! Tomorrow I will make another post with tomorrow side dish being... Macaroni and cheese!

News & Not News / Robber uses Craigslist to make getaway
« on: October 03, 2008, 03:41:47 AM »
MONROE, Wash. – In a move that could be right out of a Hollywood movie, a brazen crook apparently used a Craigslist ad to hire a dozen unsuspecting decoys to help him make his getaway following a robbery outside a bank on Tuesday. He then made his escape in an inner tube on the Skykomish River.

The robbery happened about 11 a.m. on an armored truck guard at a Bank of America branch.

"He was wearing a dust mask, a particle mask. At first I thought it might be a surgical mask. I still didn't think anything was wrong, just unusual. Then I noticed he had a pump sprayer," said Mitch Ruth, who had looked out his office window and noticed the man walking into the bank.

The robber sprayed the guard with pepper spray, grabbed a bag of money the guard was carrying and ran about 100 yards to the creek that runs into the Skykomish River, shedding clothes as he ran.

But apparently, the robber had planned ahead. In case anyone was hot on his trail, he had at least a dozen unsuspecting decoys waiting nearby, which he recruited on Craigslist.

An armored car sits outside a Bank of America branch in Monroe, Wash. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008. Police say a man tried to rob the car, then jumped into a creek that led to the Skykomish River.
"I came across the ad that was for a prevailing wage job for $28.50 an hour," said Mike, who saw a Craigslist ad last week looking for workers for a road maintenance project in Monroe.

He said he inquired and was e-mailed back with instructions to meet near the Bank of America in Monroe at 11 a.m. Tuesday. He also was told to wear certain work clothing.

"Yellow vest, safety goggles, a respirator mask… and, if possible, a blue shirt," he said.

Mike showed up along with about a dozen other men dressed like him, but there was no contractor and no road work to be done. He thought they had been stood up until he heard about the bank robbery and the suspect who wore the same attire.

From there, the cook made his watery escape in a creek that dumps out into the Skykomish River. One witness said the robber swam away, but another said he used an inner tube to get away.

"We did get an inner tube that was about 200 yards from the place where he entered the water and took that for evidence," said Debbie Willis, Monroe Police.

Investigators believe accomplices could have picked the robber up at a nearby boat launch or park.

The FBI is helping Monroe Police trace the ad and want to talk to anyone who responded.

"Any piece of information anyone has could be the piece of the puzzle we need to apprehend the suspects," said Debbie Willis, Monroe Police.

Some Monroe residents, while not endorsing what the robber did, are somewhat amused.

"Creative. Not a right way of doing it, but creative," said Monroe resident Byron Bevard.

"I grew up in LA and I never heard of anything so crazy in my life," said resident Sarah Vazquez.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, wearing a dark blue shirt, jean shorts and a mask.

Oh Monroe, what WILL you come up with next!

Video Games / Warhammer: Age of Reckoning
« on: September 28, 2008, 11:43:41 PM »
Heya all, your good old MMO whore Saiyajinnoouji here. This month's hot MMO is Warhammer: Age of reckoning. With that Warhammer has a rich history as it first started as a table top game. It later had Warhammer 40k which takes place a whole god damn farther in the future and has Space Marines and fucking zerg's.

In any case, this game is heavily on the PvP side but brings some great new things on the PvE perspective such as Public quests.

I know that this really doesn't explain a whole lot but if you go here,, it can answer some other questions that you may have.

I am currently playing on Azazel on the Destruction side as a Squiger named Kerplunker. Squigers up! WAAAAAAAGH!

Anyone else playing? I am currently loving it and can't help but think that Age of Conan's pvp should have been like this. Where opposing factions battle it out in the pvp settings and actually make a difference for their sides. Not as graphically appeasing as Conan is but it's look feels good when you consider the Warhammer universe.

One of the things that I like from this game that it really doesn't feel like a grind when leveling. There are pve quests that many are familiar with, "Get me 10 bear pensis!" but those are totally optional and you do not have to do them to advance.

On one of my characters I level from 1 to 5 doing nothing but PvP. Money wasn't an issue since I got money from killing the other opponents and turning the repeatable pvp quest. You also get loot from the dead players which is proportional to their level, so if you kill some one who is level 11, you have a chance of getting an item that is of that same level.

Anyways, lets chat Warhammer in here.

Ladies and Gentleman of SK. There is a great internet war upon us. The Anon. have felt that they need to eradicate Scientology from the internet and beyond. War has been declared by Anon and operations have begun. First a recap.

Crazy boy Tom Cruise makes this video.

Censoring began soon after where comments made about said clip where edited through out many websites that hosted/linked to said video.

Anon. declares war in the name of freedom of speech, knowledge, and epic lulz.

What say you knave?

Anyways, if most of you haven't noticed, this has gotten a lot of media attention and for the most part, most people are on the side of Anon. What do you think about this little parade?
