Movies, TV, Books & Music / 10,000 BC
« on: March 15, 2008, 08:06:55 AM »
I saw this movie today.  I think I learned a lot.  I never knew European looking cave men lived south of Egypt and South Africa.  I never knew frozen tundra could exist within half a mile of a hot, steaming jungle.  I never knew mammoths were used for aid in constructing the pyramids.  I never kne-BARF!

Really, the only thing prehistoric in this movie were the B-thriller cliches.  I got about a 3rd of my money's worth though, my friends and I were laughing for a good half hour after getting out of the movie.  I have never, in my life, seen a movie try to look historical yet take such a gigantic shit on (pre-) history.  I probably shouldn't even be posting this, but I thought maybe I might save some poor historian from taking his or her own life after seeing this movie.  By the end, I was genuinely hoping, and almost expecting, the Spartans from 300 to charge in and kill everybody, thereby redeeming all the parts from that ridiculous yet awesome movie that 10,000 BC stole.  Now pardon me, I have to god vomit out of my eyes.

Movies, TV, Books & Music / POSTAL
« on: July 01, 2007, 06:35:54 AM »
Let's see if Uwe Boll can actually be good at something, even if it's making a bad movie.  Here's a trailer, looks like he's at least gotten some of it right:

Somehow I find his obsessive self insertion into the trailer obnoxious even amoungst the rest of the moments of intentionally crude humor.  Of course, this is already probably too much thinking for Postal.

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Snakes on a Plane
« on: August 22, 2006, 03:05:35 AM »
I'm surprised nobody started a thread about this yet.  Anyway, I just got back from the movie, decided to see if it lived up to its reputation.  I must say it certainly did.  Best 'comedy' of the summer.

Seriously though, it's worth the $5-$10 if you've gotten caught up in the gimmick, but if you're easily bored then give it a pass.  Also depends on whether or not you'll laugh when the disposeable characters get bitten in risque areas.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Beherit Sculpture
« on: May 19, 2006, 08:30:47 PM »
Thought you guys might like to see this.  A guy sculpted his own Beherit.  Looks pretty damn good if you ask me.

Website is here: It uses frames and I'm not very internet savvy, so I couldn't get a direct link to the page.  It's under 'model-works' and then just look for the picture.  The website is in Korean, just in case you're curious.

Shootin' the Breeze / Predict the Future
« on: April 03, 2006, 10:16:21 PM »
This is either a genius topic or a total failure of an idea.  Anyway, do what the title says.  I want to hear about what you guys think will happen to the world in the near (i.e., next 200 years or so) future.  No flying cars and robots crap, I want stuff founded in reality with supporting evidence.  Keep in mind global issues, the impending oil shortage, the European union and how world trade is slowly shifting from the US Dollar to the Euro, the US's failure of an economy (strong words I know, but we're over 6 trillion dollars in debt, so I consider 'failure' a euphemism), and other global issues I don't know about since I don't read the paper.

Shootin' the Breeze / CDloader
« on: February 18, 2006, 02:29:13 AM »
I hate to ask this, but I just tried to play the Berserk PS2 game with a solderless mod chip and swap magic.  I discovered that I need CDloader to get the thing to work.  My question is, how the hell do I properly burn it on to a CD?  I tried using CDclone and a .ccd file I found, but it did squat.  Help!

Shootin' the Breeze / Beloved YTMND Robbed!!!
« on: January 08, 2006, 06:13:29 AM »
If you've checked YTMND today, you've probably noticed that they were finally attacked by the dreaded empire of Ebaum's World.  Currently, Ebaum's World's forums are being spammed by YTMND enthusiasts.  I hope Ebaum learns his lesson.

I've been trying to find a good place to Get the Berserk game from, but haven't come up with much.  I stumbled apon this website, but it looks a bit shady.  Anyone bought stuff from them before?

I got screwed by BuyRite before, and I'd rather not have it happen again.

Video Games / Soul Calibur III
« on: December 12, 2005, 07:51:38 PM »
I've been becoming more and more interested in 3D fighters recently, so I just bought Soul Calibur III.  Haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, but I'm pretty excited.  Its about time someone came out with a fighting game that allowed for decent character creation.  Anyone else been playing?  If you've somehow gotten pics of your original characters, I'd love to see them.

To give this topic a bit more of a point, I've noticed that the character Seigefried (or however it's spelled) is extremely similar to Guts.  He has a scar over his eye, a big sword, and has been driven mad by a cursed piece of equipment (Soul Edge=Berserk Armor).  It may just be coincedence though.

Shootin' the Breeze / Revolution Specs
« on: December 07, 2005, 05:46:41 AM »

Not sure if this is old news, but I thought it was worth posting (I did do a search, but my searching skills suck).  Looks good to me, more powerful than the Gamecube by some but not so much as to warrant a rediculous price tag.

Shootin' the Breeze / E3 2K5
« on: May 14, 2005, 02:23:39 AM »
It's getting near that time again.  Figured I'd start a new thread, even though we already have one going on about video games, since I thought it might interupt the other one.  Hope nobody minds.

Anyway, some stuff to look for (or at least that I'm excited about):

The next generation of systems (duh)

Phantasy Star Universe
I'm kind of an addict of the first online series, but this one looks much better.  The graphics are also pretty damn good for a PS2 game, let alone one that's online. a trailer with gameplay (IGN)

Drakengard 2
I know, the original wasn't so great, but this one seems like it'll be much better.  The five minute trailer:

Not much else so far.  Any reactions?

Creation Station / Vax's Colors
« on: April 11, 2005, 09:41:53 PM »

Here's a coloration I did.  It's my first, and I'm no expert in photoshop.  Still, I think it came out pretty good, minus the inside of the Dragon Slayer.
