Podcast / FloraCast Episode 2: Women's Berserk discussion
« on: February 05, 2015, 03:49:16 AM »

Hey everyone! It's been a while, hasn't it? :ganishka: Well, thanks to to all of the great feedback on the first FloraCast, Gummyskull, Lithrael and I got together to record another episode. In addition to our original lineup, we invited on Tumblr-based O-Blessed-King-of-Longing as a special guest, who I really enjoyed having on, and think you will too. Overall, I think I had even more fun recording this episode than the previous one, so I hope you'll enjoy listening as much as we did talking it up. :slan:

Here are the sections we covered this time around:
1. Flora (how appropriate!)
2. Slan
3. The virgin/whore dichotomy and how Miura addresses it
4. The theme of motherhood in Berserk
5. Listener questions (Schierke and Guts, the legacy of the saggy titty thread, and the mystery of men's nipples, among other subjects covered)

As with our last discussion, feedback is always awesome! If you have questions that you'd like to see answered in the next episode, please make sure that you bold them. Enjoy! :griffnotevil:

Podcast / The FloraCast: Women's Berserk discussion
« on: June 21, 2014, 07:03:54 PM »

 :schnoz: At last!

This past weekend, Lithrael and Gummyskull sat down with me to record a discussion about our experiences with Berserk as female fans. In this podcast, we cover the Berserk fan community, as well take a broad look at Miura's unique treatment of women's stories within the series. I was really pleased to find that we all had a lot to say, and I think listeners will enjoy new perspectives and ideas that they may not have considered before.

Of course, I don't want us to end the discussion with this little podcast. I'd love to encourage other women users here to share their thoughts and experiences with Berserk and being a female member of this (or another) fan community. And of course, guys can say stuff too! :slan:

Special thanks to Walter, Griff and Aaz for inspiring me to do this podcast. I don't think I'm alone when I say that listening to the SkullKast has made me a better Berserk fan, so big props to you guys for taking the time to create such a fun and informative series. Thanks (again!) to Lith and Gummy for joining me. You made this podcast awesome, in my book. And last but certainly not least, thanks to Gobs for helping me to edit the podcast and recording the opening theme. :griffnotevil: Hope you enjoy.

So, Gobs and I are on an east coast vacation this weekend! :guts: We're in town for a wedding, but we have a little extra time to meet up if anyone wouldn't mind doing a little driving to see us. So far it looks like we'll be free on Sunday evening or sometime on Monday.

We were thinking of meeting up at a bar or pizza place in Southern New Jersey. If you're interested in making it, let us know what you're preferred time would be.

In the meantime, here are my initial impressions of New Jersey:
- It is moist. Very moist. :magni:
- Salads taste great over here, but blue cheese dressing is a lot like ranch dressing here. What's up with that?
- Everything is open later!
- No avocados for you.
- Lots of cool looking Jewish-style food, but seems like they call it in on Mexican and Chinese.

That's it for now. :griffnotevil:

Shootin' the Breeze / Re: SECRET SCHNOZ 2018! Time for Presents!
« on: November 01, 2013, 04:16:00 AM »

The holiday season is officially underway! And what does that mean? PRESENTS! :schnoz:
Incantation and I decided to host a Secret Santa event here on the board. For those of you who aren't familiar, here's a summary of how Secret Santas work.

If you're interested in entering, please read the rules below, and then PM me and Incantation with the following information:

1. The address you'd like to have your gift delivered to (this info will only be seen by me, Incantation and your Secret Schnoz). You can also provide something in place of an address (Steam ID, email, etc) if you'd prefer a digital gift and/or want to keep your address private.
2. A list of at least 3 gift preferences. Don't leave your Secret Schnoz in the dark! :griffnotevil: Just don't ask for anything like a new laptop, ya goof.

Today -thru- November 15: Collecting entries - PM us to enter!
November 16: Incantation and I divide up the entries and randomly assign Schnozzes using a randomizing program (or a bunch of names in a hat...).
November 17: We send out the information to the Schnozzes so that they can buy/make gifts!
November 18 -thru- December 25: The gifts come rolling in! Don't forget to post pictures!!

Canty and I spent a lot of time mulling over an appropriate set of rules to make this fair for everyone. Please go over them if you'd like to participate:

1. 50 Post Participation Minimum This is a tough one, but we want to ensure a certain level of trustworthiness among the participants. If you don't quite have 50 posts yet, try to rack up your post count in time for the Nov 15 deadline!
2. $15 Price Minimum Feel free to get a single or multiple gifts that add up to $15! Keep in mind that this minimum doesn't include shipping costs. If you choose to participate, do so knowing that is an international community and you may or may not end up sending gifts to someone in a different country.
3. Handmade Gifts In the interest of fairness, we've decided that handmade gifts will be worth the amount spent on the materials. For example, if you want to create a Beherit out of clay for someone, you can subtract the price of the clay and paint from the $15 total. If you're into 2d art, I would recommend painting a picture and then putting it in a nice store bought frame! Sorry that it's so complicated, but we don't want to leave it open for any bad apples that might ruin the fun for everyone.

I hope we get lots of entries this year! Feel free to discuss the event, and post gift ideas in advance! :slan:

Creation Station / Berserk Valentines!
« on: February 07, 2012, 05:52:41 AM »
With everybody's favorite (or least favorite) mushy-mush holiday coming up this week, I think it'll be fun to make some goofy Berserk-style Valentine's Day cards. Here's an idea that I had:

In the immortal words of Aphasia, "bitches love plants." So true!

Now it's your turn.  :casca:

Creation Station / Grail makes doodlies?!
« on: February 15, 2007, 03:13:03 AM »
Hallo everyone. As many of you know, Grail goes to school. Grail takes notes. And when there are notes, there is an unbearable, agonizing boredom that tears at Grail's heart. When this occurs, Grail makes doodlies.

ENJOY PLX  :troll:

Notepage scans  one, two, and three!

This is mostly just to get the ball rolling... I'm hoping to set aside time to make some real stuff in the future. :void:
