Creation Station / Griffith does the ALS bucket challenge...

Didn't see a general AMV type thread so I am posting this here. Someone challenged me to this so I did a little video editing...

Anime Asylum / Re: Berserk Saga Project News

Eiko Tanaka, the president of Studio 4C that made the films, will be doing a Q & A panel at this year's Anime Expo in a few weeks, so someone could ask her over there if there are still plans to continue the project.

I'm a bit conflicted on this. Yes I want Studio 4C to continue the adaptation but a closer more faithful one to the manga.  That being said I recall that she did not read/was aware of the source material when they begun the project.  Considering the lack of popularity the movies received I doubt the studio will continue.  Sad thing, considering how Attack on Titan got so stupidly popular...

Reading everyones thoughts and theories I can see any of them happening.  With this release I believe the next big event will be if Griffith tells Rickert how he got to this point without leaving any details out.  I don't think this will happen as when he asked Guts to assassinate Julius because he didn't want the others to know about his "dirty deeds."

With Rickert knowing some things from Guts, I think he will find out everything himself and honestly I don't know how he will react. I'd like to think he would become Guts and companies inside man.  We shall see.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Stuff that reminds you of BERSERK
« on: May 27, 2014, 07:31:45 PM »
Stuff that reminds me of Berserk? Well, i bet it was already mentioned here somewhere on sk.net over the years, but i find much of it is similar to warhammer fantasy.
I even used that to describe Berserk to one of my friends "think of it as... well, as Warhammer Fantasy - The Manga Edition"
Well ok, it doesn't work for everything from Warhammer, but for lots of it's elements.
There is of course the dark age medieval europe setting and all, but ok, you have stuff like that in many other works too. But i have to say, i lol'd pretty hard when i first read about the Abyss or when you could even see it in the background in volume 2 or 3 i think, i was like "Wtf, the "Warp"? They have the "Warp" from Warhammer in this manga? Awesome!"
Or the idea of evil, which pretty much reminds me of the chaos gods, since they are also manifestations of the thoughts and ideas of all sentient beings. And of course Slan, i even sometimes call her Slanesh, the chaos god of pain, lust and pleasure.

edit: woah, ok there was one search result for warhammer and that was my post. This board is 12-13 years old, and i'm the only warhammer fan here? Can't be :???:

Fellow fantasy fan.  In Warhammer the Bretonnian army has a model called the Green Knight, which is based on Arthurian legend.  He reminds me of the skull knight a lot. :SK:

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: What Would You Ask Miura?
« on: May 27, 2014, 07:28:01 PM »
This is going to sound way selfish but its actually something I've been thinking about for years.  I would ask him if he could draw a wedding ring for me.  I ask this because its due to Berserk that I met my girlfriend.  I was cosplaying Guts when she noticed me and she is the perfect Casca, you can check out the cosplay thread.  I know its very unlikely that he would entertain such a question but I've even thought of visiting Japan and Young Animal to see if my message could get passed on.

Hey, I did go to korea to try and see that Zodd statue that was posted in a thread on here... it wasnt there when I went  :puck:

Excited for this as no matter where we got from here it moves the story along. Rickert meeting Griffith or going back to the ship. In either case I'm happy where we are and content on getting information about upcoming chapters.

Awe no need for any of that. The 100 man sword is simpler that's why I picked it. The most important part of making it was drawing blueprints for everything. I tried to make it as close as possible to the manga. It's all wood except a metal rod going down the center. It weights quite a bit but I can swing it around like a fool :)

She will be there all days but wearing Casca for the masquerade. I don't know which day that'll be.
I made my sword without looking at any tutorials. It's the 100 man slayer sword. I don't think I'm worthy to make a DS yet. I have a bunch of WIP photos I took. My father and I made it since he's a bit of an expert in woodworking.

The horn is made out of wood too. I don't do much costly making so I shy away from foams flexy things etc. When time for armor comes I want to make the real deal. Even considered contacting man at arms to commission him for a DS but that would cost about $5000 and he's booked till late 2015.

The dress took about 4 months of work. It wasnt like an everyday thing, just when she had time to work on it but it was a lot of hours. Making mine was worse due to the fact I wasn't there to try it on!  Were both not anywhere near cali so I couldn't financially make it  :'(

This is an awesome project sir. You did very well. Did you have any experience working with wood before this? Also how did you make all the other pieces of the outfit?

Sorry for nercoing this and if its against the rules but I didnt want to make another thread.  I've still been visiting here regularly but I have some new cosplay to share with everyone.  My lovely GF made these 2 outfits entirely from scratch minus the wig which was styled by her.  I helped too... I bought things. She decided to make the dress from the old anime, while using the new anime for Guts outfit.

Here is our Ballgown cosplay of Casca and Guts from Katsucon 2014:

Intentional dumbfounded look on Guts face when he first sees Casca in the dress. Like a church bell indeed.

And then this happened:

Not in character, sort of...

Oh and heres a random one:

I know thats a lot of pictures and we have more on her facebook if anyones interested.  We still live apart and its killing me but when we finally move in together we plan on making armor versions etc...

Bonus. Didnt get many shots of this:

BTW if anyone is going to Fanime she will be there in Casca for a day. I believe she is going to do a walk on at the masquerade so keep an eye out! (pun intended)

*Blush* Shes not my waifu yet... Theres a lot road ahead of me to make her mine but CMON SHE PUNCHED ME IN THE GUT THE FIRST TIME I GAVE HER A HUG <3 <3.
I was a bit disappointed with AX... it seemed to be more about the industry than the fans. I think next year I'd like to check out fanime, with better cosplay ofcourse!

We will one day do a potato sack casca  :???: with the berserker armor guts cosplay.

Did any of those horse faces make it to the movie? I don't remember any non-CGI horse scenes.

Maybe its a preview of whats to come when they do the Holy Iron Knights arc... seeing how much effort was put into scenes dealing with sex, maybe Mr. Rape Horse will get some screen time.  I can only hope!  :ganishka:

Guys I recently went to Katsucon and they screened the first movie in English.  I don't get that since you can buy it in most stores right now.  From what I head it had a good turnout.  Anywho, I ended up buying one of the artbooks.  I almost passed it by till I noticed the brand on the back of it.

Heres some pictures:

Rape horse?  By the way, everyone in my hotel was introduced to the rape horse coming from the other thread, and they loved it.

Heres some heraldry:

Theres a bunch of other stuff in there.  It goes chronologically, starting off with green fields and ends up with scenes from the eclipse and sketches of demons, etc.  The dealer told he me is getting in the red book in next month.

Be warned though, the manga goes into much more detail but there is a lot of graphic wtf moments. Also if you catch up to the current release, you will be waiting months for new releases.

And Casca still looks like a man.

Poor Griffith. Good to see you pick up that watch, how much did it run you for and where did you grab it from?

It ran me over $100 which is pretty inexpensive considering the other Berserk watch.  I saw it on ebay and had to fight till the end of the auction in order to get it.

I am very jealous of that man cave  :ubik: amazing!

Here is a watch I recently got:

I really like the watch so far. I only plan on wearing it during killing sprees
special occasions.  Is has a thick leather band so it will hold up nice for a long time.

Also totally unrelated, I went to the shooting range:

Berserk Miscellaneous / Re: Miura Tribute for Hajime no Ippo 1000th Chapter
« on: December 05, 2012, 02:53:48 AM »
Nice find. Miura's is by far the coolest tribute though.  :guts:

I've never read Hajime no Ippo, but it's always great to see such camaraderie among mangaka.
Whaaaat? If you haven't read/seem the anime you should definitely check the series out.  It may not be as elaborate as Berserk, but there are some overall themes that are in both if you look for them.  Also I love Hajime no Ippo because it somewhat based in reality.  No crazy super powers or people flying around...

Also... Takamuras right eye is not shown, maybe a little tribute to Guts???  :isidro:

I bought the Japanese first press Blu Ray and I'm doing the same for the second film, I'm not dismissing my favourite series by pirating, no matter how bad the interpretation may be.

This. Exactly this. I imported the Japanese movie day 1 and have the 2nd film on preorder. No matter how off their interpretation may be, I am still going to support this project. The series has a limited appeal to audiences, but that is what makes it special to me.  These movies did not do well in theatres in Japan, and I'm hopefull support of the home market will help this project going till its conclusion. Most pop anime that everyone is familiar with I actually dislike. Its never going to meet our collective expectations, and sure its ridiculous at times, but its still fucking Berserk Guts damnit!   :guts:
