It also includes a full page version of volume 39's cover illustration.
The collage itself is new, the rest isn't.

Neat, thanks for the info.

Yuka Kuramochi has been distributing what I guess are prints of the extras/promo images along with the release of Vol.39 and the new Novel.

Can anyone confirm if these have been seen before? I like Guts's "collage"

PS: The mindbogglingly opening is the least comprehensible piece of animation i saw in years and i have graded 2563 pieces of animated content on ANN and even more on Imdb. Was it put together by aliens? Did Japan accidentally discover Dadaism :troll: .

That one made my day  :ganishka:

Title: 人の都 - Human city

Found this. (Link to camshot)

Not sure how legit it is. I can't read the kanji either.

That's an illustration from the Trading Card Game; it wasn't done by Miura.

While listening to the latest podcast, I noticed that their skin tone in vol. 7 cover is not that different.

That being said, I do think that the pattern used in the B&W manga for Casca's skin clearly shows they have a very different skin tone.

Hey guys! Sorry for the double post

I wanted to let you know that the Placing it on display stage has been updated in the opening post!

Now I hope to carry it with me to wherever I live in the future. For now, it's safely placed under the stairs.

And his injured side goes through the full range of motion when he's emoting so I wouldn't think anything is simply unable to respond due to nerve damage etc..
That is a very good observation!

Character Cove / Re: Guts' Eye

Localized loss of sensitivity is the most likely scenario to you? Really? Seems on the contrary rather far fetched.
Yes, really.
I was thinking of an extreme case of Eyelid Ptosis due to trauma. Like this:
I considered it likely because: "Ptosis due to trauma can ensue after an eyelid laceration with transection of the upper eyelid elevators or disruption of the neural input." And I know many cases of loss of sensitivity in the zone of the injury.
But maybe the fact that we don't see a scar in Guts right eye is a strong point against a laceration of the eyelid.

Anyway, if that had been the case, the numerous times Guts was upside down or knocked down or endured some kinetic force, his eyelid would have opened by itself. Since it never has in the entire series, I think we can discard that notion.
That is true.

About the cauterization: Wouldn't that leave some kind of scar, too?

Character Cove / Re: Guts' Eye
« on: March 20, 2014, 02:49:27 PM »
Godot and Rickert probably cauterized his eye and eyelids together to prevent hemorrhage and infection, which means it is fused and can't be opened.

Huh. I always had the impression the most likely scenario was that he had lost sensitivity in the area because of the injury, and just couldn't control the eyelid, thus keeping the eye closed due to the inability to open it.

I'm going to make a few surprise predictions/things I hope to see in 2014, in keeping with Walter's itemized questions.
1.  Finally, we see Skellig, but the peace doesn't last long because Falconia's forces are on the way.
2.  With the help of the Elf King, Casca regains herself, Farnese and Casca both have to confront their new roles and relationship with Guts.
3.  Rickert at first is ambivalent about what to do in regard to Griffith, until he realizes staying in Falconia means pitting himself against Guts & co.
4.  I'm not predicting a new group member, but very possibly the demise of a group member.  Sooner or later we're going to get a darker arc, and I don't think the God Hand (well, at least Slan  :slan: ) are going to let Guts' suffering end anytime soon.
5.  Isidro will continue being the most underrated character who people aren't mentioning enough!  I also hope/predict his relationship with Guts, and the parallel with Guts' relationship to Gambino, is explored more in depth.

Those are good points, though I also hope to hear and see more of Silat. He's had a very privileged point of view of some of the most significant events in the story, and I'd love to see how things will move forward for him: either choosing a faction or remaining aside watching things develop.

A new videogame called "Berserk Steady Advance! Surging Waves of Soldier Companies" (ベルセルク~快進撃!怒涛の傭兵団~) was released in the Japanese site GREE as one of their social media games, available for iPhone via the iTunes App Store.

A little info from
This spin-off of the popular Berserk series puts players in charge of their own mercenary company, recruiting soldiers to form ranks of cavalry, swordsmen or archers and then sending them off to battle.
You’ll be able to affect the number of troops, health of your units and so forth depending on the rarity and strengths of your commanders, but there’s surprisingly little on how actual combat flows in the game.
From what we understand, once battle is joined—with cel-shaded units on a 3D battlefield—players touch the screen to issue basic commands and watch their units fight it out against opposing enemies.

Sadly, it's not available in the west (or at least in my country, since I haven't been able to access the game).

Manga Mausoleum / Re: Penetration Station: Who REALLY Raped Casca?
« on: August 01, 2013, 12:03:40 AM »
I think that was a more interesting discussion personally because if it were true it offers more variables to the story. (Its not true btw)
Spoiler since it's offtopic.

I've always been puzzled by Miura's choice about Casca's face expressions and sounds she makes during Femto's violation.
There are many layers to that subject to, I think: Casca confusing him with Griffith at the beginning, she "blushing" and gasping during the act, her final "kiss" just before Guts looses his eye, etc. I can see why someone would think that maybe she felt aroused during the scene.
I mean, I do understand it was such a traumatic experience that she can't even think right afterwards, and that she suffered (and is still suffering) a lot because of it.  But why wasn't she depicted with a horror expression (like Wyald rape victims, for example), instead of what we see from her doing the rape?

Amazing job! Breathtaking!

I think the metallic effect on the armor is very realistic.
Your talent, dedication and hard work really payed off with this figure.

Speculation Nation / Re: Will Rickert survive Berserk?
« on: July 29, 2013, 01:40:27 PM »
Based solely on my gut-feeling I'd say his chances are pretty good. He and Erica strike me as the kind of characters who end up watching over the rubble as the dust settles at the very end of a story, sharing a few deep thoughts and then going on to create a new future.

They do remind me of Rin and Bat from Hokuto no Ken.

That shot of Irvine from above is very cool. :ubik: Can't wait to see more!
Yeah, I think the Irvine costume ended up pretty cool too. There's a chance we will present the same team with Casca and overall improvements to every costume in a couple of months at another convention.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun plus that's a good number of varied Berserk cosplayers to have come together.
To tell you the truth, we had a GREAT time! There aren't many Berserk cosplayers here in Argentina, so the series' fans that saw us were very exited. I have no idea how many pictures with different people we took during the two days of the event. It was worth the effort!

As Guts, how hard was it fighting a pretty Griffith?
Hahaha! Griffith was done by a good friend of mine, so we did do a couple of confrontation scenes with and without the cameras during the convention. But we spent most of the time joking around "in character". She being pretty and keeping her cool in every pose was like an extra motivation to bring out the "angry guts". She kept provoking me too, haha.

I'm happy you guys liked them! I'm sure the rest of the team will love to read your comments too.

I'll do my best to improve the quality of the costumes and bring better photos the next time!

Hi guys.

I wanted to post some pictures of a Berserk team taken during a convention. The costumes are not perfect yet, but I trust that with time we'll be able to make them better!

I hope you liked them!

Congrats on completing the project, good to see an update!
Thanks! I'm aware it didn't ended up being a perfect replica, but I think it's good enough taking into account my initial objectives. Maybe in the future I can make a better one.

Seeing the coach hold the sword got a smile outta me (wearing a Slam Dunk tee at work today, coincidence).
Hahaha, everyone I showed the picture had the same reaction!  :ganishka:

What did you use to secure the link around the handle of the sword?
I used a mixture of things.
First I used a screw like these ones:

Then I used a layer of plasterwork, then some very, very strong adhesive based on Cyanoacrylate, and then a generic Universal Adhesive. All that together, after it dried, kept the link secure on the handle. I wish I could have gotten my hands in a proper chain link, though. I think that will be the first improvement moving forward.

How heavy is the sword?
I don't have a scale here with me, but I promise I'll find out soon. The thing is, though: it's not about the weight, but the balance. Grabbing it from the handle and moving it around was a real pain (I almost injured myself in the two days of the convention).

Nice haircut by the way.
Thanks! I've had long hair for several years now, so doing this to my head was a big sacrifice... I had a GREAT time, so I guess it was worth it. After all, hair grows!

What material/ metal did you use for your armor (cosplay)? That paint looks fresh.
The armor could have a thread of it's own, since it took equal or more work than the Dragon Slayer. But I didn't have a camera ready for every step, so it's not worth it.
It's made of 5 layers of different materials, as follows:
*Cardboard structure
*Glass fiber
*Plastic Filler (poliester)
*Black Metallic Spray

I realize it's not as good as it could be, sadly...
But it accomplished the premise of being as strong, hard and heavy as a real armor. If you punch it, your fist hurts, haha.

Sorry if the names of some materials and methods are wrong. I don't know how they are called in English. I linked "Plastic Filler" to an image of the product, for reference.

Thanks for the interest, and let me know if there's anything else that's not quite clear.

I just wanted to let you know that the Smoothing, Adding details to the Grip and Painting and Testing and Wielding Like a Boss stages have been updated in the opening post!

So it took more than 3 months, but My Wooden Dragon Slayer is done!!!  :ubik:

Now I have to see how I'm going to place it on display, since it pretty darn heavy. But for now, I'm going to celebrate!

Or maybe there is, but we are so far away (in distance and in language) that we don't have access to it?
