Haha, jeez. To think that I was feeling sorry for the guy! Now I'm glad he got a bunch of holes poked in him. :badbone:

Thinking how cruel the viscount and his son are (idiot father, idiot son like Guts said), I hope they are put in the same prison and disappear soon like the prisoners. :zodd: It's possible since the castle was seized.

I expected Guts to be fully recovered so that he can neutralize the son instantly. His wounds are healed and his fever is gone thanks to Chich but not his strengh, which I didn't think of. He was sick, had big wounds and couldn't eat anything for days. The ending is harshier than I wished it to be, but I should admit Chich's beautiful sacrifice saved the world's best swordsman's life. Otherwise, Guts might be killed futilely by a fat moron. And we should also keep in mind that Guts is quite often saved by elves. :iva: Lastly, it's touching to see how young Guts always kept Gambino's lessons in mind. It's a really really great episode.

No matter what other manga Miura will work on after Berserk I'm 100% sure it'll be a masterwork, even if it's a shoujo manga! Miura's ability is beyond that of a mangaka. He's a truly great storyteller. Too bad no movie nor animation can reproduce the quality of the manga.

Guts is supposed to be an easy prey for the "good son" of the viscount before he goes into his first battle. But I think he will actually have his first and last battle with Guts where he won't even wield his sword and ends up being taken hostage. :iva:

I think this flashback is not just about companionship but also fatherhood, which is big complex for young (or adult) Guts. When Guts says "stupid parent", the viscount replies "yes, you're right."

What do you think of this thing? Watch the video carefully.

After watch it 10 times myself, I tend to think it's an unknown abyssal creature or a variation of a jelly fish.

The "Sea Arc" is over because Miura said so. I want to raise three questions.

1) Do you think it ended at a good point or did you expect a little bit more?
The latter is my case.

I expected Isma and Isidro's puppy love and an impressive "separation". I even thought that Isma would tell her mana to Isidro. :iva:
And I thought we'd learn a bit more about the Sea God's backstory, like what his nature was.

2) Do you think the Sea Arc will be related to future events?
Considering that Miura never introduced arcs that didn't tie in to future events so far, I think it will.

3) What are the most important things in the arc to you?
For me:
Guts recognizes the boy.
Farnese' development in magic.
Guts can control the armor to some extent.
Schierke's telepathy and spiritual help aren't imperturbable.

Let's discuss!

How peacefully they sleep! I can understand your fun even with the incubators.  :iva:

By now, they must have gained a few pounds and inches.

You'll be twice busier than other daddies. However, I recommend you to use coton diapers for the pretty ladies! If it drives you crazy, you can use them alternatively with disposable ones. :SK: If you're interested, I can even instruct you on how to manage everyday-washing-diapers life.

Speculation Nation / Re: What if Guts dies...
« on: July 13, 2011, 08:12:30 AM »
No, no, no! I don't think Guts will die.
But if I were to imagine it happening, I think the manga would end with that and he'd die as a human being. So he just disappears from the world. Nothing remaining, no after-life.

On a side note, I always wondered what Guts would do if he couldn't fight anymore because of his wounds or just his age. I personally think he'd become a smith, like Godot and would be a good partner to Rickert, who would by then be a successful shop owner.  :guts:

In Episode 312
Roderick: I like it myself. I feel like we're at the bottom of the sea. Quite interesting, isn't it?

In Episode 322
Guts: Sea God indeed. It's not just a feeling, it's really like we're at the bottom of the sea!!

22 weeks so far.  But the wife shows as 28 due to twin factor.  My woman has only gained 1 pound so far since the pregnancy started.  These kids are sucking every resource lol.  As for sexes?  Don't know.  We decided not to find out, however... I have a serious hunch that the gods will mark me for my sins and give me 2 little girls.  I'm already looking for 2 things just in case... Chastity belt, and a double barrel shotgun.  :beast:

Wow, we can see the fetuses very clearly! They're pretty. Hail to modern technology.
Your wife hasn't gained many kilos for now. But I think she'll be very hungry after 6 months. You should be ready to get her food at any time. Pregnant women especially want to eat at night. :chomp:

Here are a couple of things I'm wondering about:

Boss: Look at the bottom of the darkness following the subtle light my brethren emit!
Guts: We can see a dim light even inside of the body.
Guts: I didn't know squids were like that...

The "dim light" catches my attention. What part of its body is the source of the light? Could it play an important role soon? I feel that the way it's been repeatedly mentioned isn't fortuitous.

Guts: Isn't it the perfect chance?
Schierke: Eh?

Guts: We can use it as a means to bring us upwards.

I don't understand how the gastric juice can bring them upwards. It's not like the gastric acid will fill more than half of the stomach, is it? Maybe I shouldn't relate it to human anatomy, or maybe the Sea God's afflicted with "acid reflex" or "excess gastric acid". :iva:

I think Miura would depict the scene differently if Guts' night vision was related to Schierke. It's true she's helping him stay in control of himself by clearing his vision of the armor's "fluid" right now, but it doesn't mean she's bestowing him some special power.

There's one line I don't fully comprehend from Guts.  "It's convenient to be able to see clearly in the dark."  Is this an advantage of the armor, or because he is possessed by Schierke?

Good question, I think it's thanks to the armor.

Speculation Nation / Re: What do you think Schierke wants to say?
« on: April 12, 2011, 06:05:52 PM »
Oh, well then that does make things different. I imagine then that she may have said something about the merrows since Isma had told her about their history with the sea god. But that's not as compelling as the other possibilities.

Actually I think it's possible Schierke thinks they might see merrows. I think it's important to link our guess/imagination to the ancient civilization. She was a bit impressed to see it.

Speculation Nation / Re: What do you think Schierke wants to say?
« on: April 12, 2011, 05:44:12 PM »
This topic is really open to every suggestion. However, I personally don't think Guts is continuing her sentence considering her surprised expression in the following panel. What's more, in the original line Guts said something similar to "anyway" before his sentence. "Anyway" is not a good equivalent for the Japanese word "naniseyo", and some words aren't necessary to translate in English, which is why I omitted it. But now that I think of it more, "naniseyo" can be important here to show that Guts doesn't care no matter what it (what they saw) means. So I've added it to the translation to clarify.

Speculation Nation / What do you think Schierke wants to say?

Page 02

Schierke: Guts!

Guts: A stone statue?
Schierke: It's a seal, probably...

Schierke: It's part of an ancient civilization.
Schierke: Then it means...

This line is very meaningful. I can't overlook it. It should be followed by something like "we might (    )".
I can't stop thinking about the part left to our imagination here. How do you think Schierke meant to finish her sentence?
It should be related to her guess about the stone statue being from an ancient civilization.

Speculation Nation / Re: What happened to Daiba?
« on: April 10, 2011, 09:24:30 AM »
I think Daiba could be the one who would be able to tell people what the change is. In Guts' band, we can learn many things about the changes or new phenomenon through Schierke. But for those humans who are ruled by Griffith, they don't know anything. Basically, Daiba is still a good resource in the manga, unlike Theresia. :void:

I always wonder where he is and what he is doing now. Is he safe and can he live for a hundred years more? Or did he transform into something like his master?

Can we see him again in the manga? Or will Miura leave his fate for us to wonder?

I imagine that the power of the spirits on the island can be unsealed while the Sea God has a "stomachache" caused by Guts. Then Schierke might be able to borrow their power so that they can finish off the Sea God. Or merrows also appear... Otherwise, the Sea God is too enormous for Guts to completely destroy, I think.

Guys, I feel like we thought about it too hard and missed the obvious. The idol assumed to be the Sea God that Casca noticed on the island looks exactly like Conrad: short tentacles, big bald head and thick lips!

I believed Miura was OK. However it feels good to be totally reassured now that it's been confirmed.
Even in such a simple illustration, his great talent can't be hidden. Concise, intelligent, effective and modest.
Thinking Miura should save electricity and necessities breaks my heart. :judo:

The earthquake was as strong as the one than hit Indonesia. However, the casualties aren't in the same order of magnitude. That's because Japanese people prepare everything in case of an earthquake:education, buildings... I hope this disaster will leave the least possible damage in Japan.

I wonder if that's for the best under the circumstances. :guts:

I think Schierke might be sent back to her body if something serious happens, like when Ganishka zapped Guts. It also seems to me that the ship will be attacked, specifically when reading Ivalera and Schierke's lines. Then Schierke can't come back to her body since it's in danger?!
