Shootin' the Breeze / Re: Show your scars
« on: October 09, 2009, 03:59:10 AM »
Sorry about the bad photos, I just took these with my phone. These are the only scars I could find on me.

Two small burns on my finger

Tiny scar on my left foot, I don't know what caused it. My friend's kitty maybe.

I've got volumes 1 - 20 nicely shelved. Taking all of those home in one trip was a bit of a strain. I technically read all of the current volumes online but I don't really trust those translations. With my physical copies, I'm on volume 6 but since my second year of college started, I hardly get any free time and I would prefer to read the entire volume in one sitting.

Nice! The glossary especially is an interesting read.

Thanks Shane, what have you been up to?
You're quite welcome, these emotes are fantastic.
As for me; School, school and more school. On a slightly related note, I found Vagabond vol. 3 at my campus book store.

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
STALKER: Clear Sky

These two games are pretty challenging and I had a blast playing them. They're first person shooters with some rpg elements (quests, inventory, micromanagement, free roaming). The atmosphere and art direction is amazing as well. They take place in a zone around the chernobyl power plant, which the developers did a great job recreating. The eerie beauty of the environment alone makes me want to reinstall it.

I loved KOTOR, that's why I played Mass Effect. To be honest, I like KOTOR more than ME but they are still both great games. KOTOR II is great as well, though the storytelling is (imo) nowhere near as amazing as it is in the first game.

That looked amazing, thanks for sharing.

EDIT: Sorry to double post but here's some gameplay. I haven't watched it yet, I'm posting this from my phone while lying in bed, I don't feel like getting up.

One of the best in the series. May I ask how you're playing it? DOSbox?
I have an old cd from 1996 or so full of old DOS games. I think the cd has some DOS emulation software on it. DOSbox would work too if you could get the game files.

Shootin' the Breeze / Re: Anime Conventions 2009
« on: September 01, 2009, 07:56:03 AM »
I went to something called the Fan Expo yesterday. It wasn't really an anime convention, it dealt more with comics, manga and video games. It was pretty fun, I got to meet Bruce Campbell which was cool.

I picked up my volumes today. It's a much nicer experience to have it physically rather than reading it off a computer screen. Maybe I'm just too happy but I feel like I can appreciate the artwork and the story much more now that I actually have it in my hands.

Reading all the other posts in this thread makes me think "damn, that actually is a really nice cover..."

Even though I voted for 26, I don't think I could ultimately say it's my absolute favorite. Every cover is amazing in its own regard

I voted for volume 26 simply because Musashi is wielding twin swords, something he perfects later on in his life. Volume 9 is quite nice too.

I got a nice comment on my profile on youtube today:
"Hi, do you actually read the manga? or are you basing it all on the anime and the video game?
Please properly read the manga and find out. It is spelled G atsu. Ask any proper fan of Berserk and youll get your answer. Dont try to teach when you know nothing, understood?"

Thanks for the warm welcome Griff and although you did it indirectly, thanks for getting me curious about Vagabond. It really is wonderful. I'm told I should get my volumes by next week on Friday. I hope I can offer some decent input here once I'm all caught up.
