Thank you so much!!! :guts: I'm super happy to get this, a whole year of Star Wars goodness! :ubik:

Not sure who my Schnozer was. There was a nice gift message, but it didn't say who it was from. Anyway, thank you again, whoever you may be and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

As a special bonus, I created a 5th anniversary postcard to share with everyone
Ooo, that sneak peek has me curious to see the whole picture! :rakshas:

Manga Mausoleum / Re: Favorite Volume Cover (Poll Results)

I've always been fairly amused that they put the sticker over Casca's naked body, but left the bloody stump of Guts' left arm out in plain view.
Reminds me of a situation when I was buying a video game for a younger relative. I wanted to get his parent's approval, so I checked with his dad. He was fine with some violent stuff as long as there weren't any scantily clad chicks to be seen. :ganishka: It seems to be a strange thing in US culture anyway, not sure if it's elsewhere, too.

I really like the newest volume cover for 39! :ubik:

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: What are you reading?
« on: November 07, 2017, 10:07:59 PM »
I finished reading Phasma by Delilah S. Dawson. It was entertaining and it kept me reading even though I didn't have much time/energy, which I think says a lot for it. The characters were pretty good. It felt like they could have been fleshed out more, but it was sufficient to get me to give a fuck about what happened to them. This book provides some interesting insights into the First Order, including things I'm sure you've been dying to know, like General Hux's taste in interior décor and loungewear. Well, look no further, my friends. :carcus: Phasma's backstory is explored. Her decision to bring the shields down on the Starkiller base when threatened with her life makes more sense to me now, which I had hoped. While I can't say it's great, I enjoyed reading this book and I dig that chromium armor! :ubik:

Bonus: Grunbeld - Why's he on here at all besides a superficial resemblance resulting in lazy theory? Well, because he's a cautionary example, the "do as I say, not as I do" lecturer with nothing more to offer. A lame wannabe stepdad Guts should mouth off to and rebel against, and he did! You suck, Grundad! :guts:

I finally had the time/energy to really sit down and give this episode the attention it so richly deserves. Thanks so much for providing the translation, puella and Aazealh! I really like how Miura is handling Casca’s restoration, bringing her and her history back to the forefront in a very vivid and cool way. I love that we’re able to know more specifically how Casca was feeling in some of those past moments, too.

I think that Farnese experiencing Casca’s memories like this is a great way to bring her to acceptance with Guts and Casca’s relationship. She witnesses their history together unfold and even feels Casca’s emotions. It was encouraging to me when at the end of the episode Farnese seems willing for the restored Casca and Guts to be together again. I really think she has a lot of love for Casca going into this and even more now that she knows her so much better. I truly think she wants what’s best for Casca, even though that means Farnese has to give up her own romantic ambitions about Guts. Don’t worry, Farnese! Roderick will be there for you! :ganishka: It warms my heart to see how far Farnese has come; from such a broken and abusive person who would burn a pet to death for perceived lack of sufficient affection towards her, to this.

I like the Guts dog a lot! I like his reactions to things, like the moment on the page before the last one where Schierke is encouraging them to be strong moving forward and he seems to be saying “Yes” with determination along with Farnese. It’s interesting how the Casca sprite fights the dog for a bit this time before running away near the beginning of the episode. I wonder if this could mean that while she is still afraid of it, she is at least a little less afraid/intimidated by it. Seems like it might be a good thing. And then of course her speaking and saying she wants to meet Guts was huge! I loved this episode.

So far I'm enjoying the Clone Wars series. I'm almost through season 1.

Here's an article about the upcoming movie with some nice pics:

I still can't recommend Clone Wars enough. It's amazing.
I second Johnstantine.  The Clone Wars had the unenviable task of trying to polish the PT turd, and I think it did a great job of it.  There were some episodes I loved, some I liked, and some I didn't like.  But overall I enjoyed and recommend it.
Hmm, I’m going to give it a shot! I’d like to see this part of the story fleshed out more.

I liked the new trailer overall. Very stoked for the upcoming movie! :ubik:

So, who has preordered their copy of the Phasma novel?  :ganishka: One thing that bugged me about the last movie was how easily it seemed like she gave up when she was captured and told to take down the shields. I mean, she was supposed to be this hardcore leader. Seems like that type would rather die than divulge something like that and yet she did it in a heartbeat. I would like to know more about her, though. I’ll probably read it, if only for the steamy scenes (Fifty Shades of Chromium).

Sonia looks very cute! :ubik: I like the fluffy cotton candy clouds in the background, too. They add well to the "daydreamy" look.

I must be due for another coloration experiment, don't you think? :slan:
Yes, please! :guts:

Thanks so much for the summary, puella!  :ubik: And thanks for posting it Aazealh! I was really eager to know what was being said. Love the conversation between Guts, Serpico, and Roderick. The memory of the bonfire of dreams is very moving also.  :judo: :casca: A heartwarming episode!

Fun listening, as always. Thanks, y'all! :ubik:

As you mentioned we had a preview of this episode, so weren't in completely uncharted territory going into it. I kind of appreciated the preview because it gave me something to get me by until the manga resumed. :ganishka: I also thought it was neat to have the rough sketches and be able to compare them to the finished version. The "spiky mountain" looks much spikier in the preview, which I thought was kind of interesting. With the next episode being mostly unspoiled, except for possibly a few snippets of scenes, I'm really anticipating seeing what's to come.

I used to have kuhli loaches myself!
Neat, I wasn't familiar with those, so I looked up some pics. They're cool looking! If I hadn't known better I might have thought they were a type of eel.

My first thought about seeing the big "spiky mountain" in the background was that it would eventually show itself to be the enormous hand from the Eclipse. As it has become a recurring symbol within the series, and in many ways represents the crux of Casca's suffering, it seemed like a natural choice. Then again, Miura is pretty good at getting us thinking one thing and then subverts our expectations, so I never know what to predict. :ganishka: Anyone have another theory about it?
The only other thing the shape brings to mind for me is the top of a tent. Since that's what Casca and the Falcons lived in a lot of the time in her life as a mercenary I thought it might have something to do with that. The seemingly far off mountain shape in her dream looks so foreboding, though. I'm not sure a tent would fit, since I would think that would be something she would see as shelter or comfort. So I don't know! Some representation of the hand or eclipse does seem like it would make sense.

Hi Loach!

I had a clown loach a while back. His name was Loafy because he liked to loaf around on the bottom of the tank a lot. He must have been busy some of the time, though, because he definitely took care of an overpopulation of snails in the tank. He was a cool fish! :guts:

Anyway, welcome aboard!

Like I thought, the sprite is a fragment of Casca's ego. I suspect they'll have to find more of these to restore her.
Looks like you were right. No Casca shrinkage involved! :casca: They just found the sprite in the casket like that. It'll be interesting to see what part she'll play in Casca's healing. I love when Farnese first puts her hand in the casket and the sprite is hesitant and shy at first and then she just jumps right in. I think it shows how important it was for the people who went into the dream to be people Casca feels comfortable and safe with, too.

Definitely will be intriguing to see the interplay between Schierke and Farnese during this whole excursion. All their personal one-on-one interactions have been in relative safety so far, but now they have to go on a little adventure by themselves. If Guts' formidable presence wasn't there, then Isidro and/or the elves' comical antics were, and the absence of all those elements is kind of making me feel unsettled.
It felt natural to me. They've been building their relationship as teacher and student and as friends. I think they are ready for their own adventure as a team. :guts: I can't wait to see what happens!

And the tiny Casca running in Farnese's hand. Cute and sad at the same time.
Yeah, so the tiny Casca must be the scribbly version of Casca that came with Schierke and Farnese in the last episode, only she has shrunk very small now. Kind of reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. Maybe her size has to do with her feeling more helpless in this situation? She is already normally helpless and child-like and now she seems even more so because she's so small. She's like a tiny little spark of life that's left of this desolated Casca in the casket.

Berserk Anime / Re: 2017 Berserk TV Series (Season 2)
« on: March 10, 2017, 09:21:17 PM »
Well, this is certainly not making me feel sorry that I stopped watching last season. What's up with that season 2 key visual? If Isidro's not careful he's gonna roast his tongue on his fire dagger and Serpico looks like he's about to sneeze. The rest just look...meh. You would think they could at least do a little better with something like that.  :schierke:
