Character Cove / The Black Swordsman as a "Religious Icon"
« on: April 21, 2017, 07:22:08 AM »
Was re-watching the Tower of Conviction Arc Episode recap, and Farnese' interactions and self-narrations regarding Guts mentioned the idea that he embodies a Prophecy as well as the 'darkness in her past that she couldn't escape'.

I'm wondering just what sort of story the Holy See was spreading and where did it come from?

Was it just a rumor the Godhand were spreading?

Later on when Farnese cuts her hair in atonement she practically reveres Guts, though he dispells the illusion she seemed to have of him, it actually took a while for her to come back down to earth so to speak.

It felt as if he was being idolized or an anti-savior to her of sorts, like cult worship or something like it.

I'm just wondering if the stage was set for Guts to take such a position in life, because he's not exactly outspoken, other than his trail of corpses.

Shootin' the Breeze / Images request for a research Paper
« on: April 05, 2007, 01:52:53 PM »
I'm doing a research paper on a violent man in the Post-Colonial Literature class I'm going to.  For reference the book is called "Things Fall Apart" by one Chinua Achebe  and the character is Okonkwo from that novel.  Basically my paper consists of me comparing and contrasting this character's violent nature and the motivations behind him with Guts.  That's right, you heard right...Guts...I'm comparing the two in my research paper as somewhat of an exploration into the mind of a violent mind and the motivations behind it.  What I'm posting this here for is because I need good stock imagery that can help me describe Guts violent nature and or motivations well for my research paper, as I'll be including images from the manga (with references cited of course).

If you guys can help me out with this, I'd appreciate it!  Thanks.  :beast:

Speculation Nation / Serpico and Griffith
« on: July 30, 2006, 08:47:17 PM »
I was just thinking this a while ago, and it seems that Serpico is quite the strategist, particularly in combat, and his fighting style isn't unlike that of Griffith himself.  I'm wondering if this might possibly help Guts in some way or perhaps that Serpico might actually encounter Griffith at any point?

Berserk Miscellaneous / Can someone please tell me?

Where you guys get all that wonderful full-color Berserk Artwork?  I haven't seen anything related to it or heard anything and it's just beautiful.

Shootin' the Breeze / Who would Win? Dragon Slayer vs. First Tsurugi
« on: October 15, 2005, 05:58:04 PM »
Well, who do you think would win?  Cloud or Guts?  Both have relatively huge swords, and we know that Guts (with Berserker Armor) can jump relatively high like Cloud in Advent Children.

How do you think the battle would go?  What would happen?  :beast:

Berserk Miscellaneous / Berserk Codes for PS2
« on: July 31, 2005, 06:48:10 AM »
No, it's not so much I'm a cheater as I want to maximize the gameplay of this awesome game.  I've already beaten it 3 times on my own merits, FYI, I've even bested the likes of Super Zodd in 100 Animal Murder Mode, but that's besides the point.

I'm just wondering if there is any possibility of getting Pro Action Replay Codes for the game, just for fun.  Codes I'm looking for:

Play as Guts covered in Blood in Any stage.
(Guts from the Slan Bossfight FYI).

Play as Berserker Armor Guts in Any Stage.  (Fighting the Apostles)
Play as Beast Berserker Guts in Any Stage.  (Beast Form during Grunberd Fight).

Infinite Berserker Gauge Time.  (for Fun, not Cheating)

I know you can play as these variations of Guts in the 100 Animal Murder Modes, I just want to know if it's possible to play as them in the other stages too.  It'd be nice anyway.

Maybe I should ask the guys at or something, but, I'm sure they'd say something like, "Using codes for Imports can't be done." When last I checked it can be done.

Speculation Nation / Philosophy behind the Brand of Sacrifice
« on: July 29, 2005, 03:49:29 AM »
I've been meaning to ask a few questions with regard to how the Godhand members deal with their "Sacrifices".

In ancient times (and even today) the concept of a ritual sacrifice requires that blood be spilt in the place of other blood, at least, as far as I know.  I know that doesn't necessarily apply to Godhand, but the thought is least based on what I know about how the Beherit works.

For a "wish" to be granted from the Beherit, the human must become a loyal apostle to Godhand AND sacrifice something "very precious" to them.

Does the Godhand consider their Apostles as "Precious" or at least valuable in a sense?  The reason I ask this is because each and every dark creature that comes after Guts and Company due to his and Casca's Brand are attempting to perform the Ritual of Sacrifice, however, most weak enemies fall fairly easily, and even some greater ones, so I'm wondering if it would be possible that Guts "sacrificed" a great number of Apostles, if in that logic, the Sacrifice already took place?

I know that's weird logic, but look at the old story of Abraham trying to sacrifice Isaac:  He was about to sacrifice him, but found a Lamb in the bush and sacrificed that instead.  Blood for Blood.  Eye for Eye, Tooth for Tooth.  By that logic you'd think Guts paid his dues (as far as Griffith's Wish is concerned anyway) a couple hundred times over.

I guess my main question is: How much blood is the Brand worth?

This of course assumes that Godhand themselves are bound by certain limitations set by the Evil Ideal, such as the concept of Causality, which leads me to my next question:

What's the likelyhood the Godhand are bound by any sort of Catch 22 in their own "flawed" (at least, to ours and Guts eyes) logic?

Lastly, and these are more of aside questions that have no relevance to this topic:

1. Does Puck have a Split Personality?

2. I've been told that the Beast is a manifestation of Guts Anger, but I have this slight feeling it's more than that, as I've noted some interesting clues with regard to the Berserker Armor.  First of all, Gurunberd's Armor is that of a Dragon, and also I've noted that the Serpent Lord wears Serpent-like Armor...this leads me to think that various Knights in different parts of the Story have Themed Enchanted Animal Armor...Guts' just happens to be that of a Wolf.  I also believe Griffith's armor is Hawk Themed (obviously) and the Prophesy points to certain aspects of there being a Hawk or at least a large bird.  My logic is that there are various Animal-like Armor in Berserk that belong to several apostles but that they allow their wearers to transform into said animals.  Which is also a semi-reference to the Guin Saga if memory serves.  Anyone have any ideas with regard to this?

Creation Station / Berserk Gameplay Music Video
« on: July 23, 2005, 05:16:15 PM »
So yeah, I got Berserk for PS2 not long ago, and I'm working on a music video to the tune of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Metallica, I'm in the Editing process right now, so hopefully things will turn out well (if you can ignore the Black Bars in the Cutscenes and the HUD/Status bits during the combat).  I have no idea how to get rid of that stuff, so I guess I'll just have to deal with it.  Wish me luck! ^__^
