Ahh, it's so great to hear Guts and Griffiths voices again, I swear some of the other characters voices sound familiar as well though I can't put my finger on it.

The anime dub kicked ass.

Really? And here I was thinking it was brought out as a april fools joke or something.
I have to admit I did enjoy the outtakes, but thats it for me.

That was awesome. That last clip showed him using SK look (pre beast) berserk armor in other areas. Maybe it's an unlockable outfit.

Some kind of "Time Attack" I think, you have to kill as many enemies as you can within the imparted time.

dwarfkicker said:
I also saw him fighting Griffith with and without his cape. Speaking of which he fights Griffith . And the cinematic moves, like when he put the cannon in Zodd's mouth and blasted him .

And notice how Griffith "counters" his attack? ;D

Check out the thread Olivier made about it. ;)

So anyone know of a good place to pre-order this game (kana/kanji-only sites aside)?

Because I don't want to end up paying over $100 for this game when I could probably get it for less.

If you're wanting the non-branded box, Liksang has it $10 cheaper than Nippon-Export, including free shipping. I have it pre-ordered there... I'd really like the figure, but not enough to pay twice as much money for it.

Haven't seen the branded box for less than US$100... not when you allow for postage, at least.

$10 less than the official price plus free shipping is definitely interesting, almost too much not to be tricky actually.

Tricky as to which box to choose, or as in 'it sounds like a trick'? If the latter: Lik-Sang is pretty established -- been running since 1998. The free shipping method is Global Priority, same as for paid orders... I've ordered from them on several occasions, and received the goods promptly and without problems.

Tricky as "there could be a trick", because the supposed minimum price is on the official site, and that selling the game for lower seems rather odd to me. I don't doubt that Lik-Sang shop's honesty however.

One of the other places I checked (Play-Asia?) was selling it for the same price, by the way, but without the free shipping.Probably the price on the official site is the RRP(?)

Ah yeah, I didn't remember that (I actually saw it there a while ago -_-), well, I guess it's a HK privilege, some tax bypassing or something like that. I'm getting the Branded Box myself anyway, so it doesn't change much :p.

Aazealh, I think I am falling in love with you  :-* ;D :p

Gut's arm blaster was impresive (compared to the DC game  :-\)
and at least we know we get to have a piece of Griffith also

thank you Aazealh, this just cleared most of my questions about this game  8)

Not only the arm cannon actually, the sword swinging has a real feeling of power, and when Guts goes Berserk he makes a carnage, unlike the DC game where he still needed 20 hits to neutralize a lousy thief...

This time Yuke's definitely scored big, I don't see how the game couldn't be a success (Sammy's own online shop doesn't even take any pre-order anymore actually).

Yeah and the whole game seems like it has a realistic feel to it, did anybody notice how Gutts was swingin his sword it looked mad real like how he would really fight, i bet a whole crap load of programing went into this game, thats why this game is going to appeal to everybody (almost) who plays video games...

Heh i also noticed how it took like 20 hits in the DC game to take down a human, i didn't like that since normally Gutts would obliterate them in one hit (in the manga)

Exactly! That was my main problem with the Dreamcast game... your sword passes right through some random thief's neck and out the other side, and he continues with what he was doing, showing no real sign of having noticed anything. It goes against the whole concept of Gatts and the Dragonslayer. You might as well be

Though there's a /bit/ of that sort of thing in the demo, since it's only the tougher, heavily armoured enemies, it's not really any problem. You do get the impression that each of your sword swings are having an effect (except on the boss, though the systems of allowing you to cut off limbs if you play things right partly make up for that). The heavy swooping sounds as you swing the sword are great too :).

From the videos released, looks as if the rest of the game is going to keep with this sort of style. Good to see that in the fights with Griffith and Zodd, it looks as if they don't have you slice them both up hundreds of times until they finally get bored and decide to leave :). If those fights are what it looks like they are in the videos (admittedly, the majority of the clips are of counters and custom attacks), they should be really, really clever.

Under two weeks 'til it's supposed to be out... pretty nice :). Just hope I'll have time to play it :/.

Berserk Updated Hands-On

TOKYO--Around this time last year, we got to play a quick and very early demo of Berserk, a new action game from Sammy based on the popular anime of the same name. The action was fast and the blood gratuitous, but there wasn't much more than simple combat included. This year, Berserk is looking much more like a complete game, and we went hands-on to see how it's shaped up over the last twelve months.

In the demo, we saw the series' hero Guts engaged in some sort of argument with a wispy female character who seemed to be egging the sword-swinging warrior on. Just before the argument came to blows, an ogre-like man named Zodd intervened, and we found ourselves right in the middle of a big boss fight. Guts came carrying his trademark massive sword, but unluckily for us, Zodd had an equally big blade to fight back with. The combat here was similar to what we played last year, but it felt more refined and featured some fighting game-style elements to boot. Several times, Zodd countered our attacks and did damage to Guts instead, and we became locked in a sort of grapple a couple of times, requiring us to hit the square button furiously to win out.

When we'd finally depleted Zodd's life bar, the fun was only beginning--the bastard proceeded to turn into a 30-foot-tall hairy creature with unpleasantly large claws. Obviously, the fight seemed a little stacked at this point, and despite invoking a special rage effect that enhanced our combat abilities, we weren't able to win out against Zodd's second form. But we had some fun trying, at least.

Berserk is looking a little more refined than last year, though the demo we played was set in a snowy area very similar to the one we saw the last time we played the game. In any event, it seems like fans of the anime may have something special to look forward to when the game finally ships (and judging by the length of the line to play the game at Sammy's TGS booth, there are a lot of fans). Berserk is slated for an October release, so look for more soon.

*Shakes head in disbelief of their stupidity*
It's kinda funny though, seeing them call Griffith a female. Obviously they couldn't hear the dialogue, otherwise they'd know better.

I actually was perplexed and wondering which female character it could be until you mentionned they were talking about Griffith... ;D

Nothing really new from that article, but at least we know the game is a success at the TGS.

Aside the opening music played, has there been any word on what the rest of the soundtrack will be like?

The slow music in the 5th trailer Sven Viking is talking about is a version of the opening song by Susumu Hirasawa as far as I can tell. Otherwise, there's the music we can hear in the demo as he said, it's fighting music, dynamic and definitely not bad, though it lacks the genius touch of Hirasawa.

Posting these if they havent been up yet. I suggest watching 3 and 7, because they're the best.

7 shows that you can unlock the Berserks Armor, because I see the player playing with it in previouse levels, like the level on the demo. It seems it unlocks different combos such as muliple back flips while swinging the swords. A large stregth increase and faster swings.
