Character theme songs?

"The Point of No Return" from The Phantom of the Opera seems like a good song for Griffith's decision to join God Hand during the Eclipse. Besides, I think we all have our own favorites for certain parts of the Berserk saga. Flame as you will, I'm a self-confessed pyromaniac.

Whale-man, we hardly knew you.
Almost everything by the Metal band Iced Earth fits Berserk. The song "My own savior" is a _perfect_ fit for Guts. There's a anime music video with Berserk and that song and it's quite good.

I used to listen to the Viking metal band Thyrfing while reading berserk. Always found it fitting, and whenever i listen to thyrfing, I have to think about Berserk. For me, the music fits berserk quite good.

Well, My rendition of the perfect song for guts is "In the End" Lincoln Park -yes i do know its overused by EVERY fricken anime fan ever but ya know.....think about it.

-I've only seen the anime....so i don't know if it fits after the eclipse :-\

Hmm.. yes that song is overused in AMVs, but i see your point. You should read the manga! :D

Hmm.. anyway, i really only posted, though unrelated, so i could comment on your particularly amusing/creative name, hahahaha.

But why Berserk has that to be related with musics of heavy metal? For me, the style of Enya and composers as Basil Poledius (Conan), would define the universe of berserk better! :)

Couldn't have said it better myself. While many metal songs fit the overall theme of berserk, I also find it strangely serene to watch mass death/destruction while listening to low-tempo sorrowful songs. Call me weird, but it somehow FITS. ;D

Much of Susumu's music is just like that, and I agree. However, there isn't just ONE genre of music that fits...

I also agree and I was accurately what I wanted to say, but some had not understood! All good that Berserk has monsters, blood, etc, etc, but will be this the reason to only think about heavy metal? Susumu Hirasawa did not create a track with sound of high guitars and yes melodies that go since vocal medieval heavy until slow and glad melodies! I am not saying that this would be an only style of music, after all the music of opening of livens up it is a good example of that different styles can be given well! :)

Gatts- My own savior- iced earth
here are the lyrics

My only comfort is in death
My only solace, my dying breath
For release, I have prayed
Thrown past life, not afraid

Life's a bitch, life's a whore
Nothing less, nothing more
There is nothing she would do for me
I will end this suffering

[chorus]
Existence of one man
Hatred with no end
My madness, my sadness
I am my own savior

The voices are calling
Out of this life, I'm falling
There is one choice, that I see
In raging flames, The Dark One awaits

Existence of one man
Hatred with no end
My madness, my sadness
I am my own savior

i'd say that works fairly well with gatts that or "payback by slayer" it depends on what mood gatts is in

i don't know why, but elephant boy and dead man's song "bear fit in the dark" seems to fit in with isidrio (sp) for no particalur reason.

PS. i just listened to my own savior and although the lyric match well i didn't like it too much

PS. yet again i was staring at this topic thinking about songs that would fit. AFI total immortal

Hope unknown
Sometimes just waking is surreal
I pass right through the nameless ones
I know that hope's unknown
Sometimes the water feels so real
As I walk through it fills my lungs
My god I'm drowning

This day never seems to end
(this pain never)
This pain never seems to
This rage I can not let go

I hear them calling
I feel them gnawing out holes,
Holes through flawless souls.
I hear them calling
I feel them gnawing out holes,
Holes through flawless, flawless souls.

So alone
Sometimes I swear that I can hear
The taunting of the voiceless ones
I fear that I alone
Fear those who finally ceased to feel
That they're alone inside this place
I am the misplaced

This day never seems to end
(this pain never)
This day never seems to end
This rage I can not let go
I hear them calling
I feel them gnawing out holes through all our flawless souls

Now every face, it looks familiar
Then every face would melt away until
Now everyone, do you know I know your deception?
I hear them calling
I feel them gnawing out holes through all our flawless souls

I think that song fits gutts pretty well.

For Guts:

"Down With The Sickness" by Disturbed

  • Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
    Broken, your servant I kneel
It seems what's left of my human side
    Is slowly changing in me

    Looking at my own reflection
When suddenly it changes, violently it changes
There is no turning back now
You've woken up the demon in me

Get up, come on get down with the sickness
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me

Madness is the gift that has been given to me

I can see inside you, the sickness is rising
Don't try to deny what you feel
It seems that all that was good has died
    And is decaying in me

It seems you're having some trouble
In dealing with these changes, living with these changes
The world is a scary place,
Now that you've woken up the demon in me

Here's a good one:

Title: Hollow Ground
Artist: The Haunted
Album: The Haunted Made Me Do It

Once again I've lost my way.
Going nowhere fast, I dread the return.
Spend my days in this self-made cage.
Where my soul can dwell,
and my loneliness is thriven far to well.

All and none of the answers I've found.
Alone I stand on hollow ground.

Too many years have passed.
Too much blood has been spilt.
I realize it's my destiny, my will.

Things aren't always what they seem
As the scars on my skin will show
On hollow ground I stand
On hollow ground repent
The sins were mine. I'm gone, I know.

Dazed and weakened by the haze.
Went nowhere fast, I dread the return.
I've lost my ways, am I losing my mind?
Maybe then my redemtion's there to find

you know, somehow I don't think gutts theme would be metal, I think galic(sp) or a hyme would fit him alot better then metal, Griffith maybe techno, i definitly think at the end of berserk griffiths song will be Nine inch nails "hurt", of course we're assuming that everything happens in gutts favor and griffith loses his kingdom.

Skullknight - the rebel alliance theme from star wars (for some reason with the scene when he bursts into the eclipse I can imagine the beginning of it playing in the background)

Young Guts - "st. anger" Metallica
Guts (presently) - "Bitter and then some" by Converge
Griffith: "Fault and Fracture" By Converge

the lyrics to "Fault and Fracture" specifically hold a Griffith esque sense to them..like it were a song he wrote about Guts:

"You were the most beautiful as the damage and the trauma
Pounding hard with battered wings of destiny
You were my last great war
You were my heaven ablaze
Riddled with faults and fractures
And I spent the last of days burning my oldest of bridges
And I spent my last of nights killing the best of friends
In the company of thieves, liars, beggars and whores
I'll lay waiting, just waiting for my time to come. "

Haha, I actually just saw Converge last week.

I can definitely apply their music to Guts, only because Converge can only be defined as an explosion, you couldn't possibly even place them in the metalcore category.

For Griffith though, I'm not quite sure Converge would fit.
