I hope that game works out well for them. I'd like to see maaany NES-era "revivals" of that sort, personally.

The music sounds awful though.
I wish it was more like the Probotector (Contra Hard Corps) tunes. When you start the game just blasting everything with your car to this music - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FGk5sMAHfk&fmt=18 you just know you're in for a helluva ride. The whole soundtrack was awesome, one of the best ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5dHOC05FOI&fmt=18

The guys doing The Conduit are also developing two other Wii games: one's a gladiator simulation reminiscent of Bushido Blade, and the other one is a Left 4 Dead clone. I guess the one thing we can't reproach them is that they aren't trying.

In short, Gladiator A.D. is supposed to be somewhere in-between Bushido Blade and Fight Night and will let you play as a variety of different gladiators, each one with his own story and fighting techniques, and that will evolve as they progress through the game. Jeff Beal is doing the score (he was the composer for HBO's Rome).

The other title is called The Grinder, and will have you hunting various mythological monsters: zombies but also werewolves, vampires and whatever other creatures they've thought of. The four characters will also have different abilities from each other that you'll be able to upgrade as time goes by. It'll feature online play, and the controls should be highly customizable.

Both games will be compatible with the Wii Motion Plus add-on.

IGN has 4-pages-long articles about them so I'm just going to post the links for those interested: Gladiator A.D. & The Grinder

As a bonus, Famitsu scans showing a preview of No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle.

Great stuff. The Grinder looks awesome. More akin to Killing Floor than Left 4 Dead, i think.

There's actually several Wii games I intend to buy this year, many of which are third-party titles that have trickled out and gotten solid reviews but little press coverage (probably because the Wii has been written off by most popular game sites/magazines as strictly kids stuff).

-Boom Blox Bash Party
-Little King's Story (supposedly a Pikmin type game that's gotten amazing reviews)
-Punch Out!

And after all the good things Aaz has said about No More Heroes, I may give it another shot. I played it for a few hours and didn't like what I saw, but ... I've said the same about games and movies I eventually grew to love.

Reminds me that I still haven't played Boom Blox... Shame on me. I'd like to get those as well, but also Madworld and eventually Muramasa, Fragile and Monster Hunter 3 when they come out here. I'm also keeping an eye on the coming Resident Evil and Dead Space rail shooters, but it's doubtful I'll buy them unless they get really good reviews. Same for the High Voltage Software games.

Well I'll be the first to admit that it's not for everybody. It's a low-budget game where you have to grind money between the fun parts, and it has a special sense of humor. I just love it though, can't help it. :guts: In the same way, I love Killer7 but I just know that a lot of people would puke on it. To each his own I guess.

Man, now I want to to give it a try.

I'm not sure what you were trying to tell me here :judo:

Me neither actually. :ganishka:

Let's just say I only meant to stress that No More Heroes is awesome. And I was dying to post it anyway.

Well in that case I'm glad I gave you an excuse to post it (not that you really needed one.)

In any case based on what I know I think I'll like it.

WOOO! Another Final Fantasy sequel. I just hope that Rosa doesn't show up in booty shorts while Rydia shows up in a short skirt with dreadlocks, and a new third female character appears that makes Daria seem exciting :troll: I also hope that it doesn't used some half-assed fps gameplay where the cut scenes make Dante seem like he obeys the laws of Earthly physics :troll:. All that aside, I'm actually pretty excited for this game. Never thought FF4 would be the one getting a sequel. Now lets see if VI and IX can get any love next.

I find the Telltale games highly overrated. I hope they don't fuck over Monkey's Island

You mean you didn't like CSI: Hard Evidence? Anyway, yeah, I hope they do it well. It'd sure be nice to have a new Monkey's Island.

"New Super Mario Bros.Wii" is a four-player platformer game akin to the Mario days of yore. Kotaku commentators described it as "Zelda: Four Swords, only sidescrolling."

I'm ... mildly excited? I kind of expected something bigger.

Miyamoto essentially confirmed that New Super Mario Bros. for Wii would include the so-called "Kind Code" which allows newer gamers to see how something should be done in a game without asking big brother to show them how to do it.

http://kotaku.com/5276446/shigeru-miyamoto-spills-beans-on-kind-code-almost

Miyamoto also confirmed that the new Zelda title would show its face next year: "Miyamoto has said that while a new Zelda game for the Wii was not at this year's E3, he hopes to announce it next year. And to prove he's not kidding around, the series creator brought in a piece of concept art for the game, showing an oldish Link (late teen/early adult) and a woman in a blue dress (presumably Zelda)." (http://kotaku.com/5276559/miyamoto-wants-to-announce-new-zelda-next-year) No pictures so far of the concept art. I hope it's shown before the show is over. I'm very curious about this "older" Link.

Miyamoto's roundtable discussion (shown here: http://kotaku.com/5276497/liveblogging-shigeru-miyamotos-developer-round-table) basically rescued Nintendo's name from the graveyard for me after their lackluster showing this morning.

If Telltale's Monkey Island is anything like their take on Sam & Max, expect to be underwhelmed.

To me that only proves he is kidding around, at least as far as I'm supposed to care. I know I'm committing blasphemy here and I'll probably be backpedaling as soon as I see that picture, but it's a year away from being officially announced? I already feel like I'm over it then, especially when it's coming out for a system that's not going to age well. Bring it out ASAP or announce it later for Wii 2, I don't want another Zelda left in the lurch between systems.

Are they going to make that into a game? =)

If it's released in late 2010/early 2011 I think it should be alright. And I believe his point was precisely that he's not going to officially announce it before it's close to release. But of course as far as the Internet is concerned, official or unofficial doesn't make a difference.

Moving on:

New Super Mario Bros Wii trailer
Super Mario Galaxy 2 trailer
The streets of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Sin & Punishment 2

Red Steel 2 conference trailer
Red Steel 2 demo part 01
Red Steel 2 demo part 02

RE Darkside Chronicles general trailer
RE Darkside Chronicles gameplay trailer (back to Rockfort Island!)
RE Darkside Chronicles gameplay trailer (Raccoon City)

Pikmin 3 is being worked on but the team is small, says Miyamoto.

In other news, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! is coming out on the DSiWare next monday. Good thing for the service, I liked the previous 2 games a lot. If they keep releasing games of that caliber I might have to get a DSi to replace my old school, v1.0 DS...

EDIT: Preview of The Grinder

And Suda51 is interested in the Wii Vitality Sensor... Curse him if he makes me buy this thing.

After reading and watching some videos of "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories", i am amazingly surprised! I was expecting a cheap remake, but boy was i wrong!
It's easily the most impressive third-party Wii game i've seen so far.

Just to quote from IGN:

"What's certain at this stage is that Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is absolutely packed with potential. It's wildly ambitious and – if it all comes together – could easily usher in a new era for survival horror. It makes brilliant use of the Wii's unique functionality and really pushes Nintendo's console to deliver a technically stunning, massively atmospheric experience."

"Another big choice was to move away from what Barlow and Hulett called the "action-horror" genre and get Silent Hill back to real survival horror." Thank Jebus for that!
