Movies to look forward to

I don't know what trailer you guys saw but the only one I seen which I am guessing is the same one you guys saw was a really ROUGH cut of the film. So anyone nitpicking at the trailer should realize that. Hell, Lionsgate even had the trailer removed from sites because the majority of the response from people were just complaints of how it looked blah blah blah.

Here's the trailer I saw:

Me, I like the way it looks. I've been following this one since Stallone created the concept and from the beginning from what I remember they wanted it to be like those low budget style, cheesy one-liner, extreme macho, explosive action movies of the 80’s/early 90’s. Commando being the best of that genre. I wish all action movies were like that again.

Cameos from Willis and Schwarzenegger.

I heard Arnold is going to be playing himself as governor of California lol. Dunno about Willis.

It'd be really funny and classy actually, if Stallone approaches Arnie in the movie, asking him to return to his mercenary ways and give up being a governor. For one last mission. :badbone:

The reviews for Where the Wild Things Are are extremely polarized:

I'm surprised. Though the bad reviews don't really make sense to me. Seems like they are more disappointed that it wasn't more childish. Doesn't bother me :serpico:

I was wondering if anyone thinks Paranormal looks interesting? It actually seems kinda scary. I may want to see it.

Yea that one, sorry. Deff let us know what you think, I need someone I can trust when it comes to movies to give me a heads up before I go spend top dollar on this over Wild THings

A new trailer of Avatar releases in theaters today. Someone actually filmed it and released it on the web. I'm not excited but I AM looking forward to seeing it. I don't know why Cameron is talking like this is the 2nd coming or something. Doesn't look groundbreaking or anything but a nice sci-fi/fantasy film. P.S. - I watched it without audio. Dunno if there's any cheesy acting or one-liners in there.

Paranormal activities doesn't interest me and I think you should pick Wild things over it. I'm one of those "it's all hocus pocus" kind of guys when it comes to ghosts and demonic possession. A movie like that would interest all the people that watch those silly ghost hunting shows. Plus the film style reminds me of blair witch proj which I didn't like and cloverfield which I despised. I read the synopsis of the entire movie just to see what I'm missing....Not much really. Some bangs, some yells some screams, some open doors and bam! The end of the movie.

BUT! I will be seeing Where the wild things are in imax next weekend. I could tell you how that is if someone hasn't already beaten me to it.

Yeah, with audio, cheese galore! Actually, I liked this one because it was like an 80's style trailer, and the part where it flashes FROM THE DIRECTOR OF... TERMINATOR... ALIENS... TERMINATOR 2... TRUE LIES... was undeniably awesome. Until TITANIC flashed across the screen and it immediately brought me back to disappointing reality, wondering, "What happened?"

While I'm sure Paranormal Activities in fact sucks, just for the record: you're not interested in the genre, haven't seen it, and nobody asked you... that's a terribly biased and uninformed opinion about it then, if I may say so objectively. You should have just said you think it looks lame, I'd agree. =)

Ya I know...reading what I typed does come across that way. Sorry I sounded like an ass. All I read was just the synopsis of the entire movie on wikipedia and from what was there, the ending and what leads up to it, isn't anything new or interesting. I mean come on, it's a clear choice if given 10 bucks and two movies to watch. Paranormal activities or wild things? Wild things hands down.

I saw Paranormal Activity last night and really enjoyed it. It was done very well for only being shot in 7 days for a budget of $15,000. It's definitely one of those movies where you're either very creeped out by it, or you think it's just plain stupid.

Similarly inspired by Where The Wild Things Are, Something Awful did a whole Photoshop Phriday with the theme of edgy children's book movie adaptations:

Looking good!

I really wanted to see it because it looked real nice and I hear it's a visually nice ride. Also Ledger's last performance which I hear isn't his best performance but still it's his last movie. But I found Terry Gilliam is on that petition in support of Roman Powlanski. So I'm choosing not to watch it. It's a shame though because it looked real nice.

For those that don't feel like clicking the link, Oburi is referring to the screenplay for The Hobbit movie.

A movie to look forward to? Really?
Admittedly, it looks a bit corny, but it doesn't look N E A R L Y as bad as many expected it to be. I can't really fault Oburi for being optimistic given the pessimism that followed this movie around before the trailer was unveiled.

(But yes, on principle, I personally think it belongs in the other thread :void:)

I'm still better than you
Did a quick search and found nothing so... I present to you... A metal Gear movie done by fans that actually looks good.

Prince of persia trailer

Thought it was gonna be crap when I first heard about it and especially Gyllenhall as the Prince. But after seeing the trailer it changed my mind. Looks nice. Can't wait for it. The only thing I didn't like was the Prince having a UK accent. That's what I didn't like about the PS2 games I just never imagined him with that of an accent. Especially Warrior within. I wish they stuck with the Prince having a US accent like in the recent PoP game.

You won't watch it because he supports Roman Polanski? I don't condone what Polanski did, but he's one of the best directors ever and people need to let that shit go already.

I never liked the work of Polanski, but I wouldn't miss out on a Terry Gilliam film even if he signed a petition to let Polanski run a daycare.
