After reading the books, the movies have never been the same for me. However, I did enjoy Half-Blood Prince. I'm taking my girlfriend to see the new film tomorrow night, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. She hasn't read any of the books nor has she seen any of the movies since Prisoner of Azkaban, so we're going to catch up this weekend before we see the new one.

I think we're gonna try to see Harry Potter in IMAX 3D sometime in the next week or so, glad to hear you enjoyed it Bob.

Saw Harry Potter with the fiance today. She liked it. I thought it was ok. I think part 2 will walk all over part 1.

Saw the trailer for True Grit finally. Movie is going to be sweet. Saw the trailer for Hobo with a Shotgun...talk about over the top violence. Although that looks crazy, I don't think I'll be buying a ticket for that one.

Yeah it most definitely suffers with having to be a two part movie, which almost instantly makes it the weaker of the two. Even with that massive of a handicap I still think it was good.

I bought a ticket on Fandango last night for the midnight showing... which didn't go through despite them charging my bank account, so I ended up missing out. :judo: Going in a few hours to see it with a friend though. Glad you liked it Bob and glad to hear it's still good despite being a part 1.

I think it being after midnight on a long day didn't help much, but I walked out when the film started to really drag. The group got to a forest or something and everything got super slow and I just stopped giving a damn. It's a really great film though, I'll just wait to finish it when it gets out on DVD. Had shitty seats too, and the people around me were obnoxious. Really crappy time/environment for a nearly 3 hours movie. : \

It's actually a short animated movie, and the animators are I think Polish (award winning guys), and you're right about the look, plus it sort of looks like it's taken panel by panel off a comic even!

It's symptomatic of people not using the full spectrum of the ratings scale. I bet when they voted it a 7, they thought they were giving it a really bad score.

Awwww ... you can't go wrong on this one though! Darren's directed Pi, Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, and The Wrestler. Plus it's got the super hot Mila + Ksenia + Montgomery, and the hot Portman + Ryder + Barbara. *twiddles fingers* Oscar buzz :schierke:

Yea Black Swan is a sure thing for me, it's getting great reviews already. Btw if anyone is interested, on the xbox 360 they now have a little Tron promotion thingy where you can watch the trailers and read about some of the characters and technology that will be in the film. Also there are some interviews with some cast members and footage that I didn't see in any of the official trailers. It's worth checking out if your interested.

I won't be lining up to see it on opening day but I think it could be worse. I was more disappointed by the Green Lantern trailer.

I was expecting both these movies to look less silly. Judging from the trailers, they're too Jon Favreau for my tastes.
