After dinner last night, I went out for drinks with my wife and some friends. I ordered an old fashioned with a bourbon I've never tried before (Whistle Pig). When it arrived, I took a sip. It tasted very... sugary. The bourbon didn't hit me at all. Initially, I thought: Maybe it's just THAT smooth! So in the name of science, I drank some more, and some more; each time trying to gauge whether or not there was bourbon. I drank the whole stupid thing and concluded at the very end: Yeah I think they forgot to add the bourbon. I told the waitress, and she looked into my glass and then at me, and said: You drank it though? THAT'S NOT THE POINT LADY! Meanwhile, my wife says her drink tastes TOO strong. I think they added my bourbon into her drink. So technically we still got our money's worth...? But I'm still upset, guys.

I've been meaning to try Whistle Pig. What's your whiskey of choice?

Did the waitress take off your drink?

Edit: Nice drink choice btw. A friend of mine is a bartender at a retirement home and that's the drink of choice for his patrons.

Nah, she gave me an insulted look and I wasn't willing to push for it. I screwed up by drinking the whole thing like a moron.

If I'm drinking it straight, my go-to bourbon is Buffalo Trace or Eagle Rare, but they've both been very hard to find for the past 5 years. If it's a cocktail, or I'm making it myself at home, I usually do Elijah Craig, because you can mask the slightly cheaper taste with your cocktail additions. Old Overholt Rye is also a very cheap but great alternative if you're just making old fashioneds.
Like so often, I'm standing at the railway tracks, looking at signs of cancelled and delayed trains, freezing my ass off, waiting for any train that takes me into the city for work.

Germany has the worst freaking public tranportation system. This is so ridiculous. :schierke:

It's always funny to me when travel youtubers come to germany and find out about this. There's always this shocked disappointment and a comment like "I thought Germans were always punctual. Not with this kind of public transportation though."

Exactly. Sadly that's not the case when it comes to the infamous Deutsche Bahn.

We're not better in montreal for public transport. Heh
We've taken a big gamble and thrown up a new chunk to the home. Adding 750 Sq feet to the existing house. Officially in the Brady Bunch scenario.
It's been so hot lately that I feel like I'm going to get sunstroke every time I go out...

I've finally finished my translation of Miura's interview in the Artwork of Berserk book. Miura defined Berserk as "a manga of the 1980s" that hadn't changed for more than thirty years, never following the current trends. He even said that long time readers were his companions. All of his comments are so interesting and impressive.

I'm a bit sad to have reached the end of this final big interview he did, but this is just the beginning. He left many interviews behind and I'm happy to be able to work on them. :guts:
In the interview from The Artwork of Berserk, Miura said he wanted to be healthy so that he could keep drawing for a long time. However, he was bothered that his working time was reduced because he exercised and lived healthily. He was always obsessed with the publication. It broke my heart to read that. It's because he worked so much that we have such a high quality manga.
Does anyone else actually like Corkus? Characters don't have to be enjoyable 24/7 to be good. Like yeah, he was annoying as fuck but his dynamic with Guts? :badbone: He also brought up some pretty valid points during their talk before Guts left. Tired of seeing my boy get hated on 24/7. :carcus: :carcus: :carcus: :carcus:
Playing RDR2 again for the first time in a couple of years :SK:. I watched Markiplier play it upon release in 2018 and purchased it a year later to play Chapter 1. I never really got what was so great about it until now. This won't be another Red Dead Redemption dickriding post, as I'm sure there's enough out there already. I just wanted to say that playing it for yourself is an entirely different experience, and I wish I realized that sooner. I feel like such an idiot for being so late to the party :rickert:. Anyways, I'm on Chapter 6 now. Here's a list of my favorite missions so far:
  1. Hell Hath No Fury
  2. A Fine Night of Debauchery
  3. Fine Joys of Tabacco
  4. Revenge is a Dish Best Eaten
Lenny and Hosea's deaths were so hard to watch, and so was Sean's :judo:. I knew what would go down during the Saint-Denis bank robbery and avoided playing it for as long as I could until no more side missions were left :farnese:.
40th anniversary of ROTJ was in its latest Disney form for the theater. Wish I'd have known beforehand.

How is Vader saying "No" to his witness of his son being tortured and murdered by his master a puzzling change?

Because it's unnecessary and the movie has been out for 40 years now and it's simply cooler without it? Would the Creation of Adam been improved if Michelangelo added lightning bolts and a "!" around the fingers decades later? You know, so the audience GETS IT.
Besides, he'll probably change his mind in five years and revert it back. Anyone remember Luke screaming as he falls in cloud city after the first Vader confrontation?

You think the creator of his own story wouldn't know what's necessary and what isn't? It's been 40 years and his story has expanded past the initial Luke saga. There's a historic element now to the mythopoetic and it's reflected in Vader.

Props to you for being original and not citing the Mona Lisa as a ridiculous and false comparative example, though. A common comparison is with Leonardo's Mona Lisa. Of course, that doesn't work, since Leonardo worked on the Mona Lisa until he dropped dead, changing something every couple of years.

The change in ESB was not him, it was a remixing error. He didn't change his mind as it was as it always has been for that scene.
Hayama Junichi's renders of classic shonen protagonists are so good. Also, Last Guardian? I thought that came out in 2016?

Yes! I was lucky enough to actually get him to sign an art book of his with a lot of those drawings at a convention recently.
The Last Guardian thing is a bit of a joke because I spent the last decade+ here saying "When are we getting Last Guardian?" every E3 on the forum haha.

Can't believe 2016 was 2 years ago. It's like yesterday when Harambe died.
Or was it 7 years ago?

2019 was 1 year ago, 2016 was 2 years ago, 2011 was 5 years ago... right?

@Domeniko well I bought these before the deluxe editions came out, and I'm not really planning on collecting the series again. Also I don't really like how the deluxe editions look, but I do like the larger format pages
