With the encouragement over the last few years by large players like Google, Mozilla, Cisco, and such to have more websites convert to HTTPS, has a conversion at any point been considered?

For example, the W3C encourages more sites to convert. Info Here

One setback I can see is the incompatibility with out of date platforms like Windows XP prior to SP3.  But a vast majority of people are going to be using compatible browsers so I don't think this is that much of an issue.

Another Could be cost, with many sites asking to $50-150 for certificates.  But a solution to this could be Let's Encrypt, which offers Domain Verification certificates for free by being sponsored by a large list of the big internet players.

And I suppose the largest hurdle to them all would be time to look into how to implement on your site, and which URLs may need to be updated to have that added 's'.  The most I can find related to the SMF platform is from this thread on their board.  Another consideration is the DV certificates provided by Let's Encrypt expire every 90 days, so they suggest renewing the certificate automatically every 60 days.

I can easily see this something that may take time to implement, and may not be done with how life typically gets in the way of side projects like this.  I mostly bring this up because I'm hoping to no longer see the not secured warning when looking at :guts:

Site & Forum News / Favicon Update
« on: December 11, 2017, 05:29:23 PM »
It seems that the last time the Favicon was updated was last time I brought it up back in 2005.  Since then, the typical screen resolutions have increased making the 16x16 icon look dated, and there are now mobile icons, touchbar icons, ect. that can be utilized.  It may be time to update it once more. Using the template at I was able to make the following

Example of appearance

Example favicons package zip

This is intended as an example since my artwork is lacking, but with an image of at least 260x260 pixels, they can generate a pretty nice Icon package.

Speculation Nation / Guts's Lineage
« on: November 06, 2017, 04:38:33 PM »
I have had this as a discussion before with a couple friends, and they immediately think that Guts must be special in someway.  Which fits into the "Hero's journey" archetype.  For example Harry Potter was the son of respected wizard, or Luke was the son of the greatest Jedi.  So with this line of thinking, Guts could be special by having a blood relation with a notable character, or royal blood, or in the case of fantasy maybe special strength granted through some sort of mixed birth(Like the part demon/devil that likes to appear so much in anime).

In my opinion, the needs to be special doesn't fit for Guts.  I feel the power of the story pushes Guts to be of Mundane Roots, but with the overall push to show that he is a survivor.  He was born to the death of his mother hanging from a tree.  Abandoned by all, but survives to see another day thanks to Shisu.  Had rough childhood where he was taught to survive or die by Gambino.  Each step of his life demonstrating the strength of the will to survive despite "only being human" or despite unwelcoming odds.  His growth as a character shifts the focus of not just self preservation(Early life), but ensuring the survival of others(OG BoTF, and current traveling party) through his will and resolve breaking beyond the norm of what should be possible with only having mundane roots and manifesting into his many extraordinary feats.

With that in mind, I think that the story has it all wrapped up on his Lineage.  I think he was born to a common woman, maybe hung for being suspected as a heretic, and then taken in by Shisu and Gambino.  I think anything beyond that is likely to be irrelevant.

Just wanted to get an idea of what the thoughts of other readers were on the topic.

My friend, Drake Goldwin of Fwooshnet, created this Casca Figure.  He used an Arowyn figure of LOTR, with the head of an appleseed figure, and sculpted the hair and created a makeshift robe.

I don't know if this is just another thing that I missed, but how long ago were the post account positions changed?

Berserk Merchandise / E-bay Item "Bootleg"
« on: December 28, 2004, 02:16:58 PM »
I saw this when seeing what the most expensive berserk Item was(because I like to see when people sell statues, not that I really have the money for it.), and I saw This.

Selling a bootleg of the berserk anime, claiming it is the licenced version, then charging $684.49, with around $25 S&H.  It just made me sick. :-X

Shootin' the Breeze / Santa Claus?
« on: December 14, 2004, 02:13:11 AM »
I'm sure I'm not the only one who as a child was taught to believe in Santa.  But my understanding was different than most kids.
My sister would write letters to me as Mrs. Clause, and give me gourmet cookies with the letters.  She had me convinced in the end that Mrs Clause existed.
At the same time my Mom was explained the truth about Santa Clause.  She explained,"He is the spirit of Christmas, and because of him people have Christmas cheer and merriment."
These explanations had me thinking that year that the truth about the whole thing was that Mrs. Clause was a widow, since Santa was a ghost that possessed people at Christmas time.  I was kind of afraid of the concept, and that that all those poor people in the mall that Santa possesses to have them dress like him.
Any one else have skewed perspectives of the existence of Santa?

Shootin' the Breeze / Berserk web backround
« on: December 01, 2004, 06:21:39 AM »
I've decided that I have been Procrastinating creating a web site(for the sole purpose of learing HTML) for far too long. But I have now reached a snag, I would like to have a berserk page of my website but I would like to have a dark toned(dark grey almost black) berserk themed Backround image.(perferably small in size)

Also it would be helpful to know what would be good to have on the page.(I was thinking mostly berserk links. Like to the Official Berserk corner of YA, here, and the like.)

If you have any tips and suggestions please share. ;D

I am simply learning from various HTML tutorials I find in google. ;D

Shootin' the Breeze / Bad Weekends
« on: October 27, 2004, 06:44:58 AM »
My luck near the end of this last weekend has been awful.

First, My main computer was attacked by a virus created by the great lucifer himself(It deleted my HDD idx)   :'(

Next, much to my dismay, I relized that the computer that I allowed a friend of mine borrow had fried it's processor do to his negligence. (This computer was what I was going to use to preserve the files of my main computer.) >:(

Later I installed XP on a newly formatted drive I had gotten, so I could finally get online. :)

The next morning, I began installing most of my other programs, and everything seemed to be OK. :-\

Then at work, I slamed my thumb in between the two large metal doors of the bailer(Machine used to crush cardboard into large bricks.) >:(

Later to find when I came home that my computer was now subjected to some sever adware, home search assistant, shopping wizard, or whatever you wish to call it. I ended up downloadeding about 5 different spyware removers to try and take care of the problem. And it continued to respawn, I eventually accepted defeat and read a Tutorial on how to remove Home shopping Assistant. :(

Now, I have it removed, and am very happy that this is behind me, well all except needing a new processor now for computer2. And best of all, although my thumb nail is torn, my thumb seems to be healing OK.

Anyone else with bad day stories? ;D

Ps. Sorry, I just wanted to rant. :-[

Speculation Nation / Could Ganishka be a previous godhand?
« on: September 08, 2004, 06:38:25 AM »
I was thinking, and it seems logical that their should have been a missing godhand.

I came to this conclusion assuming that void became a godhand during gaseric's empire's downfall, makeing him about 1080 years old.
 My thoery is like this
-1080 Void
-864 Conrad(?)
-648 Ubik(?)
-432 Ganashka(?)
-216 Slann(?)
 0 Femto
Although I'm not sure the order.
I think it is a possibility that Ganashka was exiled, or expelled from the godhand for some sort of fight or feud. This may be why he speaks so ill of the God hand. Making him somewhat like Lucifer.

Also why he refers to himself as the KING OF KINGS, or why Rakshas calls him the King of demons(although this could be due to his army of demons)

Also this may explain why he is so powerful in comparison to the other apostles.

The only problem I see is that he is on the physical Realm, which I thought was only possible during rebirth ceromonies, but maybe That's only for those who inhabit temporarily.

Please tell me any more holes or support, i'll gladly take criticism. :D

Encyclopedia: Q&A / Berserk prototype
« on: August 05, 2004, 04:45:24 AM »
I'm sure this must have been asked many times in the past, but in my search I can find nothing but broken links.  I am wondering if anyone has any idea where I can obtain scans of the prototype chapter of berserk.  I heard it sucked, and that it stars Guts the pirate, but nothing more.  Thank you for your help. ;D
