I still feel that these films are opening a whole new world when it comes to animation the detail in the war scenes is amazing having hundreds of movements in every frame.  The story aside the cg work is cutting edge.

Umm I know I should probably mind my own business and I don't mean to sound like a bully but I have two things to pick out of those statements...

First of all, "when it comes to ANIMATION, the detail in the war scenes is amazing, having HUNDREDS OF MOVEMENTS IN EVERY FRAME", well someone please tell me otherwise if I'm wrong, but CG counts animation correct? Well last time I remember Computer generated animation covering every frame, was the complete mess of scenes put in the modern Star Wars flicks, it's an extreme example, but I just don't think it's necessarily something to judge the film on, it really doesn't mean anything. So I don't think that's really a good thing. I could be wrong, since this is in an anime film, but I'm just saying, the movements per frame don't really mean ANYTHING.

Well we all know the story is cutting edge, that's why we read the manga, since you know, it's 35 volumes in, while this film hasn't even been released yet, how can you say the story is cutting edge, when we have so little to judge the film on, just cause it's an adaption of Berserk, doesn't mean it will be great by any means. To use an example, I can't say "Oh that Avengers movie, looks okay acting wise, but oh god, the action scenes looks like its gonna be a blast!" When there's like 3 minutes of footage released so far.

I'm not trying to sound rude, infact I myself, am looking forward to the film, I just feel you're giving the film way too much credit too soon.

Ok everybody, back to the real make or break issue: did they capture the true CGI quality of the manga properly? :iva:

Hehe, well, again as I said above, I think it looks great, but the movement is just a little...sluggish, atleast on certain scenes, kinda has that old stop motion movement I would expect to see in a 1940's monster movie  :iva: but that's when it's at it's worst, when it's at it's best, it looks fantastic, just wonderful.

They're lazy. Probably one guy on the entire team has read the manga, and is recreating scenes from his head. Its not on purpose, its just... slackers.

If so, I wonder what Miura would have to say towards the team.  :ganishka:

Holy Crap...Well, I would look into it, but is this REALLY worth it if you have the 2009 dvd, 6 disc set, remastered edition.  :void:

The CG never really bothered me, though some scenes as people have pointed out do need some work, everything LOOKS good to me, but in certain scenes, the movement feels stiff.

The only thing that bothers me is some of the minor changes, major changes would be worse but personally just minor changes annoy me more simply cause well...its minor, so why change it at all? Like Guts putting on his helmet before those two Hawk mercenaries attack, what's the point? Why not just stick to the manga, do they really want to just set it apart with such trivial things?

I understand that because it's trivial, it can really go both ways, (someone may say, why complain, it's trivial), but overall, that's the only thing that bothers me, it seems like they are just trying to make this a LITTLE bit different from the manga and 90's anime, which would be fine with most series but this is Berserk, it's perfect as it is.

Hello, Leith.

If you review the trailer at this specific moment 1:20 into the trailer: http://youtu.be/WF3OP3f2I10?t=1m20s you can see Guts using a blade that is of a much different anatomy than his sword he is never without. Also, you can see a veil being worn over his face, which is very realistic if you are a good assassin, but Guts was not. If I understand it correctly, the reason Guts' assassination did not go so smoothly in the manga was because he was not skilled at this sort of thing.

Ahhhh I see, hmm, that is pretty stupid, but at least things could be much worse.

I don't know, but i don't feel "hyped" about this movie at all (i was at some point, when it was announced). It just seems to me that it's going to be a disgrace.

A disgrace? Isn't that a bit harsh? I can see why it could be bad, but not awful, to me personally at least it looks good.

Ah so I wasn't too far off from the appearance of Donovan and Gambino, about them showing up in some flashback, (or Nightmare), but just not really having much lines.

I'm getting more and more hyped, but I am curious over something, is there a picture of the sword Guts is apparently gonna use for the assassination? I also agree, he shouldn't change swords, but to what degree is this change?

The word revolutionary, it's so overused now, everything seems to be called revolutionary. "The internet was revolutionary" Sure I can agree with that. "3D TV's are revolutionary  :troll: " Oh you mean the mixture of two already existing things, that neither improves anything of significance or innovates since the concept of 3D has already been done, so basically a gimmick. Sure...  :azan:

Kawaii and Desu. I'm not sure if this really fits in since it's Japanese, but GOD DAMN IT, I'm sorry but whenever some little nerd thinks its cool to use the two Japanese words everyone knows, I just want to slap him back and forth.

Well I just hope it lives up to the fan I had with Soul Calibur 1 and 2...3 was sorta good I guess, and 4 was well just okay to me, I just hope they don't over complicate things, since with each sequel they just add more and more.

I'm more of SF player, but if I want a really strict fighter, I'll play Tekken or something, Soul Calibur just needs to be fun for me  :griffnotevil:

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, Gambino appears in some flashbacks similar to how it was handled in the 90's series but instead of him talking, Guts would just talk over it? Like he would think back to his childhood, then talk over scenes from his childhood, and there we could see Gambino but he would have no voice actor...Same with Donovan, I know the character himself is not listed but just thought it could be a possibility...

To what extent is Miura's involvement in Saga project?

I'm not the best one to answer as I'm sure some members know more, but from what I know or believe, Kentaro Miura is checking in to make sure the project is going well which would make sense for slower volume releases. I might be wrong but that's the only info I heard.

i'm not gonna wait for a US release even if the movie doesn't have subtitles i'll watch it online because i love berserk

you're wrong i don't have an asian fetish for a few reasons i can't tell you here ./////////.
i'm just saying having a foreign girlfriend would be fun and interesting :serpico:

lol yeah, just a joke, yeah I do agree, it would be interesting though.

Ha yeah I saw that, come to think of it, it would be pretty awesome to get a new current gen Berserk game, I can only hope maybe the films will let that happen  :schierke:

Mario 3D land is pretty cool so far, a little easy but the extra worlds should change that.
Skyrim great as always.

Back from my relatives, and yup, had a great christmas

Got a new tv since my old one was absolute crap, I love it, very nice.
A black 3DS, along with Ocarina of time 3D.
I have a bit of money, so I bought myself the Berserk anime series (I had seen it before, but never got the chance to actually owning it)

That's it really, though I will post again, since christmas is over for my family, but the holidays aint really done yet for me, me and some friends get each other stuff, one friend I know who is rich got me like 16 volumes of Berserk, so I will see soon enough.

Maybe Gambino will just get an average obscure seiyuu or someone from set? Like how they don't list of course who does the screams casual talk of unnamed Hawk members. Just a guess...if its the case, then it's not assuring but I would trust any of their decisions from what I see so far.

Many valid points, but as always, he overexaggerates the game's flaws to the point of absurdity.

That's why he's so lovable   :slan:
I always get a good laugh from his reviews, even when he bashes a game I personally enjoy.

I must say though, after re-watching it, I noticed a little contradiction, how he states Zelda has been the same game since Ocarina of time, so he can just make the same complaints but then ends his review with a complaint about the boss at the end of the dungeon "breaking the Zelda rules" well if its different, then its a good thing according to the supposed flaws given in his first point.

Berserk Merchandise / Some statue suggestions?
« on: December 22, 2011, 04:13:09 AM »
Around the holidays, I will be spending some of my money online to get some Berserk statues, but I would like to ask any of you members who own some, to give any suggestions as to which you think are the best in quality or more bang for your buck?

If you own any, you can just list any of your favorites, or heck, even if you don't own any, maybe just off of observation, which ones interest you more? I know its personal preference, but just as an example, there's already quite a lot of Guts statues, so which one is the best in your opinion.

Also, a bit unrelated, but I just want to say, I will be offline for a good 3 or 4 days starting from Saturday because of family during the holidays of course, not like anyone needs or does care, but just leaving that out there.  :farnese:
