I want to see this now. The eye candy factor is enough for me and I used to watch that old anime every now and then, interesting to see what it's become.

Watched it last night. Loved it. While there were sections of the movie where I lost faith and felt it was a little sloppy, ultimately it was a beautiful movie. It was a completely unique experience for me. I can't compare it to anything in recent mind, except maybe the FF8 opening movie 8)

Saw it about a week ago, I too was very excited about this movie from the trailer put up here several months ago.
It wouldn't have bothered me that it was not full on action, the thing was it was just a pain to get through. By the end of the movie we were bearly paying any attention.
I agree with Hague about it trying to be beautiful the whole way through, just over done a little too much.
Action wise the one part I did like though was when he was destroying all the machines which looked alright, but I thought the rest of the fight scenes were very disappointing and relying too much on special effects and trying to be artistic when they should be focusing on the action choreography more.

I enjoyed it but the ending left me scratching my head. I'll probably check it out again when Dreamworks releases it on DVD here in the US.
