Movies to dread

According to some leaked script for the new Robocop (the authenticity of which I doubt anyone can vouch for), concerning the suit:

They run through several variations and even focus group a few of them. The first set looks very similar to the original Robocop design, but is rejected because it reminds the focus group of a "toy from the 80s." After that they make it more sleek and black.

I'm assuming this is meant to be a commentary on remakes, but I'm probably giving these people too much credit.

Whoever was in that focus group must not have been a fan of the original Robocop movies. The original suit was, and still is iconic, along with being an instant visual cue for anyone who isn't a fan of the series. Even if they'd updated the suit, while keeping the same look and feel, it would've been a fantastic marketing tool. Not a bastardised version of Shepard's N7 armor.

I think what MrWeatherby means is that the focus group takes place in the movie.

I uncovered some information from IMDb that explains a lot about the new Robocop movie:

The novel was awesome, and they did a pretty good job with the audiobook (yeah ROLLINS!) Too bad they're screwing up the film.
I never finished the novel. Too sporadic for me to feel like I was really engaged with it. But from what I read there were some cool ideas in it.

I read the original J. Michael Straczynski script, and it was really good.

That aside, though, running zombies is fucking stupid.

If you want to watch the movie in 2:24 minutes, watch the trailer. I might watch it when it gets available online just because Abigail Breslin's is a good actress.

This is supposedly for real.
Cost of film: $17,000.
Cost of music licenses in trailer: $5,000,000.

It's already a failure.

Now now, I just watched it *pat pat*. Doesn't look so bad but I haven't read the comic. Doesn't look very original and a bit predictable but the first was the same, yet fun (for me).

EDIT

R.I.P.D trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=X07xNrVd7DU

No thank you, looks like a waste of money to go see in a theater. I'd rather watch MIB or MIB III.
