Square reveals their true colors, early in 1996.

Check out the movies. They used this demo to train for the fights in AC.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

The grey wolf is supposed to represent Zack.

Walter, Geostigma is a disease created by the Jenova Cells in a person's body.  The children somehow got the cells (no idea how) and so the Sephiroth remnants needed to gather everyone with Geostigma to complete the Jenova Reunion and bring about the recreation of Sephiroth himself.

The Sephiroth that Cloud fought both was and wasn't him.  It was Kadaj's body but Sephiroth's essence.  If the Reunion occurred it would be Sephiroth remade in his entirety.

I know you said do it in PMs but there could be others who have the same problem with that part of the story.  To fully understand this movie you had to play through and understand FF7.  So yeah, anyone who is experiencing FF7 for the first time through this movie will be a little lost (that's an understatement).

Yeah so, what were the children used for again? Go over that part, and please, be specific :carcus:.

That, and because the movie's "plot" is one giant load in my pants. Understanding it is to not like it. Turn OFF the subtitles before viewing! =)

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

First before I explain that part the anime Last Order, covers the Nibelheim incident where Sephiroth goes from good guy to bad guy and burns Cloud's and Tifa's home town to the ground. It's been leaked and here's the link to that:

http://www.mininova.org/tor/109548

Now to explain the reasoning behind the kids. I'll start by going over a bit of FF7.

Jenova was an alien that fell from the stars. The Ancients called her the Calamity from the Skies. She wiped out a lot of the Ancients by changing her form and appearing as dead relatives to her/its victims. The Ancients eventually won out and sealed her a Geological Stratum (don't know what that is, most like encased in something). Thousands of years later, Shinra recovers her, realizes she's not of the earth and begin doing experiments with her. They decided to see if they could make superior beings with her cells. Sephiroth was the product of the first experiment with the cells. They were injected into the womb of his real mother while he was a fetus so that he would develop with the Jenova Cells. The project was a success and Sephiroth was a superior being though the experiment showed him having faster speed, super strenth, and hightened intelligence.

When Sephiroth apparently died during the Nibelheim incident, Shinra decided to clone him. But clone isn't what you're thinking. They are subjecting other Soldiers to the same experiment they did on Sephiroth in order to make another amazing super soldier. This experiment consisted of not only doesing the patient with Mako (gives Soldiers the glow in their eyes) but also injecting them with Jenova Cells. Zack and Cloud were the first to be a part of the Clone experiment (they were forced).

Skip ahead five years. Sephiroth, originally thought dead, had fallen into a pit of mako, which is the lifestream in a liquid like form. He was absorbed into the planet. He traveled the lifestream and gained it's knowledge. He learned about the planet's history, more about the ancients, as well as knowledge of Jenova. More importantly, he learned that he had powers that he never knew he even had. And this is the important part. Sephiroth learned that he could manipulate the Jenova Cells in a persons body. Manipulating them by calling them to a destination (the Reunion). Or manipulating them by changing their form into his, thus completely taking control of their body. This is what he did to lead Cloud and his group to their final destination.

Now I'll cover the Reunion. It's is an event where all of Jenova's Cells come back together in order to be whole. To be one. Sephiroth's ultimate goal was to be one with Jenova, to be one with the planet, to ultimately become a god.

Now let's jump ahead to Advent Children. The final battle within the planet in FF7 caused Sephiroth's essence to be absorbed into the lifestream. However, this had consequences as Sephiroth was able to corrupt the planet somewhat with this act. The essence of Jenova was released into the world. And through this act, the essence attacked the weakest of the weak. That would be the children. Adults were infected with this virus, Star Scar Syndrome (Geostigma) as well, but it more so infected the children. This virus spread Jenova's cells into those infected. And so Geostigma is the result of Jenova Cells entering a body in an unnatural way.

Now on to Sephiroth's remnants; Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo. All three of them are Sephiroth. They are remnants of Sephiroth's physical being. Their ultimate destiny is to become Sephiroth. But inorder to become him, they need Jenova's head, as well as all the cells of Jenova in those who have Geostigma. They need Jenova's head to restart the Reunion, the gathering of the Jenova Cells. With the head, the remnants would equally divide up the cells between them as well as take in the cells of those with Geostigma. This would create or make whole, Sephiroth.

Sephiroth can't manipulate the cells of those with Geostigma to appear as him like he could with the clones in FF7. And he can't manipulate any of his remants either. The clones were given the same amount of Jenova Cells as he was and that's why he could manipulate the cells within their bodies. Now, those with geostigma don't have enough Jenova Cells in them to allow this. And since the remnants are all part of Sephiroth, each of them posses only a third of the cells that he had so he can't manipulate their bodies either.

He manipulated Kadaj because Kadaj used all the cells of Jenova's head on himself instead of dividing them up with the other two. This gave him more than enough cells for Sephiroth to return with just his body.

Hope that helps.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Thanks for the history lesson. I've played FF7 though, so much of your work was for naught. And you still haven't justified why the children were physically needed by Kadaj in order to summon Sephiroth. All you said was "Reunion." The children aren't present during the summoning, so how exactly are they providing a function for the summoning? Furthermore, why does Vincent want to go to the phone store? :badbone:

And even if there is a "perfectly reasonable" explanation for this apparent plot hole, it's a moot point. The answer isn't clear. And viewers shouldn't have to be subjected to "further reading" in order to understand a basic plot point. That's just sloppy writing.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Was just reading the novel link on the advent children website (On the way to a Smile), it's basically how Denzel ended up getting Geostigma. It's still incomplete though.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Well my problem with this movie stems also from things unrelated to plot, how this is milking a franchise to death, or what not.

Seriously this movie had some of the worst audio and visual editing I've seen in ages. You'd hear a song, it'd end without notice, reason, or use only to have another song just begin playing for no apparent reason and that's only one of the examples. Sometimes songs would just suddenly end and leave an awkward silence afterwards, not even another song to continue whatever it was they were going with. And the visual editing. Christ on a crutch, did we really need a 100 differents cuts per sword swing? Man whoever was editing this movie must have been loaded or something because the editing was god awful, worse than most of the action movies guilty of the same thing.

Not even that though, I found this movie had similar problems to the French Film Kaena: The Prophecy (which oddly enough has been called Final Fantasy if I remember correctly). A CG film that actually had a somewhat interesting story and looked wonderful... problem was the animation a lot of times wasnt up to par, everything looked excellent but didnt move quite as such. I feel the same thing happens in FF VII Advent's Children. You've got excellent detail but I found people often moved very awkwardly, especially compared to stuff like Shrek 2 where both the frentic action scenes and the normal every day scenes had wonderful animation. The somewhat stilted animation is really noticable in the scenes with a lot of people.

I did enjoy the music but since most of it was straight out of the FF series and VII itself I'm not surprised there, however pretty much everything else was a let down. I mean hell they decrease Tifa's breasts and increase Aerith's? Ok?

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

They need the children who have geostigma (j-cells) for the Reunion which has to do with the Jenova Cells coming together to form one. Kadaj wanted to use the cells in Jenova's head, the cells of him and his brothers, as well as the cells found in the children to become one, which is the purpose of the Reunion. This would have them all come together as Sephiroth, the true Sephiroth, body and all, instead of him just manipulating cells to make them appear as him.

Kadaj using the cells of the head on himself gave him enough cells to become Sephiroth, but only through his (Seph) manipulations. It wasn't his body, it was Kadaj's. If it went down I just stated above, then it would be Sephiroth in Sephiroth's body. That's why the children are needed.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

So... the children really weren't needed for this movie then. Thanks for clearing that up :guts:

Moving on, how about Sephy's GRAND PLAN, U.S.S. Earth? Brilliant!

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

When you watch Last Order you'll see the new way that they are portraying the Nibelheim incident. It's the same way it's portrayed in Before Crisis, and will most likely be portrayed this way in Crisis Core.

Looks like a remake for FF7 isn't too far off now.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Bullshit FF7 official revised history aside, can anyone give me an organic story driven reason for any of this meaningless hogwash to continue in the first place?

Thank you. =)

This movie reminded me of Versus, albeit Versus was more coherent.

Versus was a better experience, I ate loads of pizza and fell asleep during Versus and when I woke up it was the future or some shit. Plus it was over. Worked for me.

I didn't get any pizza or naptime during this gag reel.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer
