*SPOILER ALERT*

Like Rocky V, that movie officially NEVER happened. Fun though.

Tell that to Square.

Before Crisis takes place 6 before FF7
Crisis Core takes place 5 years before FF7 (I won't sware by it)
FF7
Advent Children takes place 2 years after FF7
Dirge of Cerberus takes place 3 years after FF7

And Advent Children left it open for another game or movie to follow after Dirge of Cerberus.

All these things are easily viewed as milking a franchise but Square certainly stands to make a lot of money from it.

"But"? Don't you mean "AND" or "thus"? =)

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

You might want to watch it by yourself first. I remember one or two scenes in particular when I felt really embarassed to be watching it; red-faced, hoping none of my roomates came in and asked what I was watching.

"NOTHING!... nothing."

edit: No, it's not Tifa's boobs. :judo:

I always blame watching stupid animations (especially cg ones) on "research". To date shark tale's the worst I've seen

Ah yes. Good catch man. I'm gonna go fix that now.

Which parts?

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Yeah, the boost bit was insanely lame. I think that was my only real complaint I have on (real as in major). Anyway, the official website is being updated with an online novela that fills in the events that took place between FF7 and AC. So maybe it'll cover the plot holes that stick out. They stated it will cover how Rufus and Tseng survived so I'm assuming it'll touch on the three remnants.

And now for the inevitable for those who have seen it:

Do you think it was better than Episode 3 (sorry, I just had to) :guts:

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Well, they only way I can vaguely enjoy both movies is by grouping them with the genre of Saturday Morning Cartoons. So... I'd say they're peers, or maybe even freakishly-deformed Siamese Twins?

And as for Square's novellas... That won't explain away what I'm referring to. I'm talking about the actual CHILDREN in AC, of Midgar. What were they used for again? And that's a rhetorical question, so, if you want to answer it, do it in PMs. :troll:

I actually thought of this parallel while taking a dump this evening, I shit you not (pardon the expression). The difference is while Ep. III failed to live up to its own pretentions, this simply aimed low into the dirt and hit like a fuckin' A-bomb. It was what it was, 100% extraneous fan filler; it's amazing really, an entire movie that's a meaningless mcguffin in itself, but I can't say I didn't enjoy the ride (though I do wish I had the time back, what a waste =). And where was the CGI Tifa T&A? I feel that's the missing kitchen sink here.

But yeah Monty, I wouldn't show this unless everybody knew what they were getting into, enjoy laughing at absurb cinema, and there was lots of snacks and booze to be had... done soberly, it's like holding a screening of clown porn, "Hey guys, look what I'm into!"

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

If I have one complaint, it's that this movie is pretty much a fans only affair. I'd have liked to watch this with the folks.

Still, there's a lot to love; the swordfights, the hand-to-hand fights, the monsters, Vincent's Spawn-style cape and triple-barrell boomstick, sexy Tifa, sexy Yuffie, sexy Yazoo (you heard me), the wacky hijinks of Reno and Rude, and the incredible motorcycle sequences, which I like to call "bike-fu". :badbone:

BTW, check this out, my rants from earlier in the thread:

I hope it's better than the context and vibe I get from the hundreds of trailers, basically that they had nowhere interesting to take these characters, so they're going to reunite all of them for a big needless retread of TEH FINAL BATTAL so we can all buy FF7 again.

I was right. :guts:

Yeah, well if it's so short, I'd rather not see these characters outside of cameos at all, or any lame new ones to generate artificial plot (SEPHIROTH CLONES OMG!!!!). I mean, does this thing have a genuine creative point to it? Did they have an idea besides, "Hey, FFVII made money, more FFVII means making more money; brilliant." So far all the elements involved look like a bunch of smoke and mirror bullshit to substitute for any kind substantive story or character development.

Then again, if The Spirits Within was their attempt at something genuine (cause they sure weren't making money =), maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Right again. :carcus:

Holy God, this might actually be good, I mean, not really, but entertaining, good like Commando or Superman II (as a matter of fact, the three baddies look like they're right out of Superman II). Like, Final Fantasy VII Pornography. 8)

HEROS REUNITE TO FIGHT GODZILLA AND CLONES! SEPHIROTH REBIRTHDED! SOMEWHERE, SOMEHOW, SOMEONE IS GOING TO PAY!

And I hope that wasn't the Black Mages playing that cheeze rock over One-Winged Angel... =)

Ah, the triple crown, and here I really hit the nail on the head. :void:

There, that's a perfect review of the movie, and written months in advance too. :badbone:

Update: Turning subs off provides the best experience.
Funny that you mention that, I actually haven't figured out how to add the subs in my player (VLC Mac for those who are wondering :judo:). Could that be the explanation of why I enjoyed the movie? :griff:

Anyways, it was fun to watch. I'm a satisfied customer.... XD

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Glad I'm not the only one who didnt enjoy this movie. Bah it seemed like all fan service... I'm surprised Square didnt just take a load on the entire FF VII storyline and bring Aerith back to life.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

You have to watch this kind of movie just to have some mindless fun and clear your mind, just like pretty much every Jackie Chan movie out there, if you were expecting a "deer hunter" out of this movie well, I don't know what you were thinking. FF7AC had plenty of Eyecandy and lots of good action sequences which pretty much surpassed my expectations after spirits with in.

P.S. I wouldn't mind square making a sidestory or a recap for FF6 as long as Kefka was alive *muahahaha*.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Meh I honestly didnt think the action scenes were that good. ***SPOILERS*** The bahamut scene started off well enough but just turned into some really lame fan service thing and ended even worse and the Sepiroth fight, not to mention the whole sepiroth thing, was fairly lame if you asked me. The best fight scene to me was Tifas***END SPOILERS***

I don't mind watching this sort of stuff with a sense of humor, but it's difficult to do when Square takes ITSELF so seriously (GEOSTIGMA!). That's why parts of this movie are embarassing instead of being outright comedic.

Re: FF7 AC 4min trailer

Yeah, maybe they should have taken it in a more appropriate direction in the first place? That's part of storytelli... Oh, whom I kidding, this tripe has it's fanbase, and they'll eat it up. Mission Accomplished.

Whats with the grey wolf?

What was with the anything in this movie? =)

And while it does have some treats for the eye, I agree with Stallion that the action was a total bore for the most part. Repetitive motion, so stiff and stylized it registers as no more than the CGI demo that it is. The original game cutscenes actually had more natural-looking physics.

Then again, Super Mario Bros. 1 has more natural physics, honestly. :guts:

P.S. I like it without subtitles.
