Finally got around to watching the Memorial Edition. It was way worse than I remember it being, and not even the welcomed added scenes did anything to salvage the bones of that project.
The retroactive elevation the 2016 series did for the Studio 4C stuff is pretty impressive, I guess, because I fully went in thinking I was going to enjoy my time watching it. I did not.
It just further punctuates my general disappointment for the series since Miura’s passing.
After dinner last night, I went out for drinks with my wife and some friends. I ordered an old fashioned with a bourbon I've never tried before (Whistle Pig). When it arrived, I took a sip. It tasted very... sugary. The bourbon didn't hit me at all. Initially, I thought: Maybe it's just THAT smooth! So in the name of science, I drank some more, and some more; each time trying to gauge whether or not there was bourbon. I drank the whole stupid thing and concluded at the very end: Yeah I think they forgot to add the bourbon. I told the waitress, and she looked into my glass and then at me, and said: You drank it though? THAT'S NOT THE POINT LADY! Meanwhile, my wife says her drink tastes TOO strong. I think they added my bourbon into her drink. So technically we still got our money's worth...? But I'm still upset, guys.
Like so often, I'm standing at the railway tracks, looking at signs of cancelled and delayed trains, freezing my ass off, waiting for any train that takes me into the city for work.
Germany has the worst freaking public tranportation system. This is so ridiculous.
I've finally finished my translation of Miura's interview in the Artwork of Berserk book. Miura defined Berserk as "a manga of the 1980s" that hadn't changed for more than thirty years, never following the current trends. He even said that long time readers were his companions. All of his comments are so interesting and impressive.
I'm a bit sad to have reached the end of this final big interview he did, but this is just the beginning. He left many interviews behind and I'm happy to be able to work on them.
In the interview from The Artwork of Berserk, Miura said he wanted to be healthy so that he could keep drawing for a long time. However, he was bothered that his working time was reduced because he exercised and lived healthily. He was always obsessed with the publication. It broke my heart to read that. It's because he worked so much that we have such a high quality manga.
Does anyone else actually like Corkus? Characters don't have to be enjoyable 24/7 to be good. Like yeah, he was annoying as fuck but his dynamic with Guts? He also brought up some pretty valid points during their talk before Guts left. Tired of seeing my boy get hated on 24/7.
Playing RDR2 again for the first time in a couple of years . I watched Markiplier play it upon release in 2018 and purchased it a year later to play Chapter 1. I never really got what was so great about it until now. This won't be another Red Dead Redemption dickriding post, as I'm sure there's enough out there already. I just wanted to say that playing it for yourself is an entirely different experience, and I wish I realized that sooner. I feel like such an idiot for being so late to the party . Anyways, I'm on Chapter 6 now. Here's a list of my favorite missions so far:
Hell Hath No Fury
A Fine Night of Debauchery
Fine Joys of Tabacco
Revenge is a Dish Best Eaten
Lenny and Hosea's deaths were so hard to watch, and so was Sean's . I knew what would go down during the Saint-Denis bank robbery and avoided playing it for as long as I could until no more side missions were left .
