  • I don’t know what people are smoking but that new Predator movie sucked so bad i turned it off halfway. I immediately put the original on to cleanse my pallet

Unfortunately I do think the bar is very low nowadays... Most new stuff is unwatchable to me.

I haven't watched it yet, but I was generally hearing good things about it! I'll have to approach with caution. :schnoz:
You know what word i really can’t stand now? “Content”

There's so much content out there that it's hard to find something you'd be content with. Decision paralysis ^_^

Piggybacking on this idea, I cannot (for the life of me) stand it when someone makes a Berserk-related post and calls out to anyone reading in this way "Hello fellow strugglers" or "Hello strugglers" ... that word - strugglers - within that context = 1000% cringe.

A thing of nightmares would be to log into the board and find every post/ topic on here start with that sort of messaging - THE HORROR!

First time I've been able to log in and browse the boards since "that day". I give a lot of credit to the leaders here for soldiering on with the forum and the skullcasts and such. I still haven't really accepted it. I must be in denial. Hopefully little by little I can come to terms with it. But I miss my skullknight family ;_:

Good to see you on the forum again! It's been tough, but at the same time it feels natural and comforting to continue to enjoy the series with everyone. Hope you're holding up okay!

Totally get you Oburi, I've been struggling with a few things and the acceptance of what's happened. It's a weird mix of emotions and I miss everyone on here. I often miss the boat too, when I log on to say something, I see someone's said the same thing I was thinking and maybe better - so I stay away thinking I wouldn't add any value to my post.
I had a strange dream last night where I went to Walters house. It was dark and cluttered. He was constantly eating from a bowl which never left his hands. I looked over his book shelf and suggested we watch Band of Brothers, but Walter insisted we watch a new Owen Wilson movie. I begrudgingly obliged, making comments about how stupid it was to Walters annoyance as we watched.
Anyone watching the superbowl on sunday? Pretty great matchup this year. As a New Englander, I can't help but root for Brady. 43 years old and playing in his 10th championship, possibly winning for a 7th time. If it were a movie it would be dismissed as unrealistic.

Growing up in the New England football craze (and sharing my name with the OTHER Patriot quarterback pre Brady), once they started winning I couldn't have been less interested. It was the punk rock thing to do. That's when hockey took over my life as the ultimate sport. But eventually, during that drought that you're talking about, I got back on board. Probably because they couldn't seem to go all the way, despite having some of the best teams of all time, being one Super Bowl short from a perfect season and the inability to beat the Giants when it mattered. Then as you say, they just started winning again to the point that yea, next year looks pretty damn promising. And indeed, I just shake my head in disbelief at how smart Brady looks now going to Tampa, assembling his team and then winning it all (using the guys he fought to bring in). Especially when a year ago it all seemed so questionable. Did anyone think Antonio Brown would have a ring? Kinda regret that part, actually.

Brown was the breaking point with the Patriots too, cut for his toxicity and Brady only cared he had no weapons lol. I actually think this is to his competitive credit and why teammates love him; he only cares about winning and he'll back you if you help, even if it makes him look bad. He's not acting better than those guys or prioritizing his personal brand. He was probably also tired of watching Belichick trade down every draft, whiff yearly and then having to make it work and getting the blame when it didn't. But yeah, each guy Brady brought to Tampa scored a touchdown in the freakin' Super Bowl! He's a better GM than Belichick, who now has to live with his best coach status coming with the Phil Jackson caveat that, "he had the best player(s)!" I figured if anyone was going to win without the other it was Belichick because he could go another decade. Just incredible, this would be like if Jordan won with the Wizards, and he was 5 years younger at the time... :magni:

Yea I thought so too. Friggin crazy.
Does anyone else have that strange sensation when eating a chocolate bar that your throat feels like it closes up or is itchy? Sometimes causing coughing? I had a snickers at work and my throat closed up on me immediately. I thought I was going to choke to death, and it wasn't from any actual food. I couldn't breath for about 20 seconds. Very embarrassing and hard to to describe. Can anyone relate to this?

It's possible you developed an allergy to peanuts (in the Snickers). Definitely get that checked!

Watching old samurai movies. Lone Wolf and Cub on bluray is amazing. Now for Kurosawa

i will. thank you. Just watched the first in the Samurai trilogy about Musashi. It exceeded my expectations, which weren't very high based on some of the things i'd read. But I thought it was really great. I also watched some perhaps lesser known films, Goyokin and Incident at Blood Pass (starring Mifune AND Shintaru Katsu). Both very good

The Samurai Trilogy is a lot of fun. Just great, such a classic. Glad you're having fun with this. Not old school - Twilight Samurai - I think this came out in the 2000's or late 1990's and I remember it for some really good conversations between characters and heartbreaking moments.

After Kurosawa, make sure to check out Ame Agaru. It came out several years after his death, but it was his final script, and one of the lead actors is Toshiro Mifune's son, so it's sort of a strange, cool, legacy project.

I work in a rehab center so since we're part of the health system, we are still open.

I work for the railroad. We've been handed essential papers to show the police if there is a local stay at home order. Been slow, but its nice knowing we can't be shut down and employment is safe.

I've been furloughed, which essentially means I still have my job and benefits, but I'm no longer getting paid for not working. Luckily I can collect unemployment which, along with the stimulus and my income taxes which just came in means I should be ok for a while.
