Movies to look forward to

Inception comes out next weekend! I've been looking forward to it since Shutter Island and the overall summer.

I personally liked The Prestige better than Batman Begins, so I wonder if I'll end up liking Inception more than The Dark Knight. I guess it'll depend on the story structuring, which Nolan and his brother are very great at. However...not a big fan of Memento. :zodd:)

TS3 was pretty great, definitely should go see it for some fun. i was a child when i watched toy story 1, and it felt nice seeing what happens when Andy grows up.:serpico:
(just like me, same graduation year too!)

i really though they were gonna die in the furnace scene, ='[
and poor Andy wanted to keep his Woody doll ='[

Finally saw Toy Story 3 and yes it really was amazing. I also was a child when I saw the first one so it had a little more of that sentimental effect on me. And yes I had a few tears streaming down my face towards the end. It was a total bawwfest for me .

I'm sorry guys, I'm just not dreading it. I've been looking forward to Machete every since it was under consideration for a full length film. :serpico:

Ha, yea I saw that on the ign homepage today too. I'm not dreading it either. These types of movies aren't disappointing to me. Like Planet Terror, if you know what your going to the theater for, you''ll be set for some wholesome family entertainment.

For me - Batman Begins > The Dark Knight > The Prestige.

Really? I feel like we've seen this movie a dozen times already.

It looks like a mix between The Hangover and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Am I the only one who doesn't find Zack Galifianakis funny?

He can be very funny (his stand up is great) but so far his track record in films is shit. I hate a lot of the new "funny men" in comedies these days. Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, even Will Farell and Steve Carell take so many unfunny shitty roles that it gets annoying. On their own they are funny, but its too much man.

Yes, really. No shit.

It may not be wholly original, but I'm not dreading it by any means. It seems much more tasteful than "Dinner for Schmucks" or other low-grade comedies that have been coming out of the woodwork lately.

The stand-up of his that I've seen I thought was really funny, but you're right, his film roles are just the opposite.

It looks to be about the same quality to me. I'll probably skip this one.

I know, I know, but did you watch the new theatrical trailer?

I think it's a bit more expansive than status updates and duck-face profile pics. David Fincher is directing it, I have respect for him, and he's competent enough to make this worth seeing.

If you mean the one you linked to, I'd seen it this morning. I have nothing against Fincher, but he's made less-than-stellar movies before, and I feel that even with the best of treatments it's not a story that's going to be very interesting. Not to mention that it's been prominently featured in various articles in the past.

The premise may have been used before, but I'm with Green on this one (if I'm agreeing with you, you may need to check your head btw), I'm looking forward to it. If for no other reason, not too many good comedies come out these days. It crossed my mind to see Cyrus recently, so I went and watched the trailer one more time and thank fuck I did... that movie doesn't look good at all.

In other news, I don't know if anyone remembers me mentioning how I bought the Ghibli box set in a different thread, and I mentioned how I enjoyed a movie done by Hayao's son called Gedo Senki, but apparently it's getting an American theatrical release!

Sounds like you're really looking forward to it. :carcus:

We might need a neutral movie thread like "Movies to take or leave" or "Movies to exist soon."

Fincher is more of a 'miss' than a 'hit' with me. Fight Club and Se7en are the only films of his that I enjoyed. The rest? Eh.

So, this should definitely be in the 'dread' thread.

Yeah...Social Network. Not completely sure how I feel about this one. Panic Room I disliked very much, Benjamin Button was enjoyable for the most part and Zodiac was just plain boring. I'm just not sure I actually want to see how Facebook came to be, at all really. Who cares? I'd much prefer Fincher stick to darker subject matter honestly.

Just saw this:

Should I be excited?

This has potential to be awesome, I just have a nagging fear that it'll shirk its potential to capture a general audience. Daft Punk is doing the soundtrack, which so far is rad. Here are some samples: http://blogs.1077theend.com/internbryce/2010/07/22/new-daft-punk-zomg/

I haven't even seen the original and I can't wait. The music they played in the trailer is awesome! I'll check out the link you posted when I get home, Walter (and not just because it's from a Seattle radio station :iva:).

Actually, it's been drawing a lot of hype for a while now, and with so many people seeing the trailer for it this summer (haha the kind of audience that'll watch Inception for example and it'll be previewed), I think they'll flock for it UNLESS Harry Potter comes out around the same time >_>' *gaaahhhhhhh*
